《Little Thief (Black Butler G/T)》Chapter Six

The slightly cold measuring tape made Kadence shiver, and she looked up at the tall butler who stared down at her, focused on what he was doing. His hand shifted her very casually and he was very silent. He hadn't even really told her what was going on, or what he was doing. "S-Sebastian, I-I'm sorry but...wh-what exactly are you taking my measurements for?" She asked softly, watching him blink out of his focused state and turn his ruby eyes toward her.
"The Master told me to create a maid's uniform in your size, so that is exactly what I will do. It shouldn't be too difficult, now, turn around and hold your arms out straight to your sides." Sebastian calmly requested, watching the tiny woman do as asked and stand with her back toward him. She was so fascinating. He wanted to learn more about these tiny creatures called 'Borrowers.'
The redhead stood as still as she could, staring at the wall ahead of her. "B-But I can't do anything. I-If he wants me to leave o-or me to die why doesn't he just say so?" Kadence shut her emerald eyes tightly and could feel her body shaking again. She hates being afraid.
"Why do you think that? The Master may be cold most of the time but it has always been quite clear that somewhere inside that soul of his there is always a drop of pity for someone like you. Someone who is as weak as you. You may, in fact, be added as a pawn to his game." Sebastian took the final measurement and placed the tape on the surface of his desk. "Now, come here."
Kadence stood still, her head hanging low. If that Earl did somehow pity her, why would he make her a maid that can't do anything? How is she supposed to work off what she indeed stole from this mansion? It was only when something brushed her arm did she yelp and wheel around to face a large gloved hand that was inches away from her, palm up on the desk.

"Well, come on. Must I grab you again? I won't hesitate to do it." Sebastian's brow arched impatiently, and he was confused as to why she herself looked just as confused.
"I-I'm a prisoner here. Wh-Why are you giving me the option of stepping on myself?" Kadence watched the large hand pull away from her and disappear back to the side of the butler. His deep voice rumbled above her, but she didn't hear what he said. She was so focused on her own thoughts.
The demon watched the Borrower with curious eyes and placed his hand on his chin in thought. "Have you been watching me today? All day I've felt a presence. It was very distracting from my work." Simply trying to change the subject, Sebastian waited for an answer. And waited. And waited. But none came. Why must this tiny creature be so silent when she is asked questions?
Snapping herself out of her trance-like state, she shifted her gaze up at the butler who was just staring at her. He looked annoyed. "I-I'm sorry, I'm n-not used to being a-around humans," Kadence said in a whisper, stepping forward very cautiously. "G-Give me y-your hand."
Sebastian did as requested, setting his hand palm up on the desk and expected the same thing as before. To his genuine surprise, the redhead began to climb into his hand at a snail-like pace. She still hadn't answered his question, but if her words were true, and he knows they are, he just has to let her calm down.
"Wh-Where are we going?" Kadence asked, shifting herself onto her knees and ensuring her dress wasn't riding up. The glove was soft, a very fine fabric indeed. She wonders just how much money this Earl has to be able to afford these things. She doesn't understand much about human life, but she knows that people value money more than almost anything.

"Nowhere. I need you to stay either in my pocket or on my shoulder so I can begin your uniform. Now, pocket or shoulder?" Sebastian watched her closely, seeing her think his question though.
If she was in his pocket, it would be slightly uncomfortable and dark. His shoulder was too close to his face. However...she hadn't slept in a while, and sleeping around a human wasn't the best idea. But she saw how he followed his Master's orders, she should be able to trust him enough to be able to sleep. "How about th-the bed? Th-That way I'm out of the way."
"Hm. I suppose that would work. But how can I trust you not to run away?" The raven-haired butler stood from the desk chair, moving swiftly to the bed but his hand holding the tiny female barely moved.
"I value my life, thank you very much," She retorted, certain she saw a faint, amused smile on his face before he returned to his straight expression. "Whoa!" She exclaimed as the hand she was sitting on tipped, sending her falling onto her back on probably the softest thing she's ever laid on.
It was so comfortable, this pillow. Immediately her limbs and eyes grew heavy, begging her to sleep right where she was. But she couldn't, not yet. Watching Sebastian closely, she waited until his back was toward her at his desk before she laid on her side. Melting into the soft surface, she shut her emerald colored eyes.
Sebastian had already begun the very tiny stitches when the Borrower's presence behind him began to grow faint. He was certain she had started running, but when he glanced over his shoulder he hardly could believe his eyes. He's never seen anyone fall asleep that fast, not even the Master.
He decides to let her be, for she'd need her strength and energy when he finished this uniform. With a heavy sigh, he shakes his head with an amused smirk and returns his attention to the fabric in his hands. Strange little creature indeed.
