《Little Thief (Black Butler G/T)》Chapter Five

"P-Please, I'm begging you, don't force me to go in there!" Kadence cried out, struggling harder than she's ever done before to try and escape the butler's fingers.
Sebastian easily ignored the tiny woman's pleas, his black shoes tapping the hardwood floor which echoed off the walls of the grand hallway. To Kadence, it reminded her she was alone in this. No one would be helping her escape this man's grasp.
After a few more moments of struggling, she felt his slender fingers tighten significantly around her body and she froze. Her emerald-colored orbs widened, her body hanging limply while she slowly looked up at Sebastian's face. He was staring firmly down at her, his own ruby eyes boring into her.
"I must request you to stop your shouting and cease your struggling. You are beginning to annoy me. And if you do continue I'm afraid I may have to do something drastic. I've been more than patient with you." His tone was very calm and collected, and a clearly fake smile was plastered on his lips. The fact he could smile through his anger frightened her a considerable amount more than any human who would shout and scream. How could he be so...calm?
A soft whimper escaped her lips, and she wasn't even sure if it was audible to him. A lump in her throat prevented her from speaking, for she was certain if she opened her mouth she'd break down into tears again. And it would seem like she was crying at nothing to the black-haired butler. So instead she just nodded her head rapidly, trembling in the somewhat tight grip.
Sebastian watched the trembling borrower for a few more seconds before he continued down the hall. It wasn't too long until he stopped in front of his Master's study door. With a gloved fist, he knocked lightly on the wooden surface and awaited an answer.

Kadence listened as a frustrated grunt came from within, and an even more frustrated voice spoke loudly. That must be him. Ciel Phantomhive.
"Come in!" Ciel barked and fell back in his study chair, scowling at the papers sitting on his desk. When the tall butler stepped into the room and shut the door behind him, he cast a glare at him from behind his blueish-gray locks of hair. "Sebastian. I told you not to disturb me today unless it was important. I have too much paperwork to attend to for my company."
Kadence couldn't believe her eyes. That voice and this mansion belonged to...a child? He couldn't be more than thirteen! But nonetheless, he was a human. And he was angry. She did her best to hide in Sebastian's hand, able to feel her hands shaking against the velvet-gloved hand.
Sebastian stared at the Young Earl with an unamused expression, arching his left brow with an exasperated sigh. "And since when do I not follow your orders? This is important. I caught a woman in the garden, she's a thief. And because of her...special disability, I thought it more fitting to bring her to you." Stepping forward, he cast a glance at the fearful tiny woman, then slowly lowered her onto the surface of the desk. "This is her. She said she is a 'Borrower.' But I do not believe anything she's ever 'borrowed' was returned."
Ciel stared down at the small figure that now stood on his desk, and it stared right back at him with wide, green eyes. "A...Borrower?" Speaking slowly, he did his best to keep a calm composure. "Sebastian, why are you bothering me with such trivial things? You could have easily just killed her and went on with your day instead of making it a big issue. A life like hers wouldn't be important."

The Earl's words struck home with Kadence, and she could feel her heart being torn apart inside her body. She's always considered herself unimportant to the humans, but not the way he was describing her. She always thought she was just something they wouldn't need to worry about. But maybe...he was right. No one but those in this mansion knew of her. They could just kill her and no one would ever know. The realization hit harder than the words and she could feel tears running down her cheeks. A mix of frightened and hurt droplets dripping onto the desk.
Sebastian's eye twitched and he softly cleared his throat. "Young Master, if I may, I only take care of those who are attacking right away. However, this tiny young lady intrigued me. You know of our...situation, and never in my years have I seen a thing such as her. Perhaps she could of some use to me. To us." Out of the corner of his ruby eyes, he could see Kadence's shoulders shaking. Was it from fear or was she...? "Oh, Young Master, you made a young lady cry." A smirk tugged at his lips and he cast a glance toward Ciel. "Even an Earl like you should know making a young woman cry is not very befitting of a man in your position."
Ciel's hands clenched under his desk and he cast a glance down at this 'Borrower' in front of him. Sure enough, she was staring straight ahead and had almost invisible drops of water running down her face. He groans to himself, leaning his face in to get a better look at the redheaded female. "Why are you crying?"
Kadence sniffled, using the sleeve of the teal gown given to her to wipe her eyes and face off. Looking up, she could see one of the Earl's eyes were covered with a black eyepatch that was mostly covered by his hair. But at her angle, it was easy to see other things that most people couldn't. "I-It's n-not important." She stuttered out, her voice shaky from her own fear and from the tears. "I-If you're going to kill m-me g-get it over with a-already."
Sebastian watched his Master closely, waiting for instructions. When he didn't receive any and the boy just continued to stare at the redhead, the butler stepped forward with an outstretched hand, ready to do the worst when Ciel's hand raised for him to stop.
Ciel clicked his tongue with a 'tsk' and turned his chair to face away from both Sebastian and the tiny girl. "Get her face cleaned up and make a maid's uniform in her size. She's staying here, but she will work off everything you say she stole. Which I can only assume were tiny things since you're only catching her now. Sebastian, you are in charge of her. Anything that happens is on your shoulders. Or is that too much pressure for you?" The corner of the young boy's lips curled upward into a smirk, and he could almost hear Sebastian's mental cursing of his name.
Sebastian frowns but remains silent for just a few seconds. Placing a hand firmly on his chest, he bows at the waist and watching the shocked Borrower out of the corner of his eye. This was just one more easy thing added to his list. "Yes, My Lord."

Fragments from the Wildlands
“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.
