Los Angeles, CA

Week later

Sipping on champagne while she sat back in the chair, she waited for her to come out.

This was unbelievable to her. Jodie was literally about to be a married woman in a few days and she still couldn't picture it. Beside her was Jay and Brad who both were in their own worlds having a discussion among themselves. Jodie was suit shopping and asked the three people she not only trusted the most but also cared about to tag along. She had no idea on what she wanted to look like, but she knew her tuxedo had to be all white. Sadie leg crossed over the other one as she patiently tapped her foot.

She knew the moment she saw Jodie come from the fitting room and stand before her that everything was going to be surreal. A wedding was happening in days and she still haven't told her how she felt. She sighed as she looked down at her forearm, using her finger to trace over the tree tattoo. Memories of the two began to flash before her.

"Where do you think we'll be in ten years" Jodie said as the two laid back, watching the beautiful view from their treehouse. It had been raining all day in Westbrooks but that was spring for you. She could see Jodie turning her head slightly to look over at her.

"I don't know but hopefully still friends"

Frowning her face as her eyebrows raised a little, it was obviously what she said made Jodie feel some type of way. They've been best friends for so long that some people who didn't know them thought they were sisters. They were inseparable and sometimes when they were apart they felt like they were losing a piece of themselves.

"Hopefully" Jodie repeated, her eyes still stuck on Sadie, "this is forever" she stated. When Sadie just smiled and laughed it off, that caused Jodie to sit all the way up. In this position, Jodie was now looking down at her.

"I'm serious" she stated, "you're my best friend and I don't see me not being friends with you"

"I know" Sadie mumbled, as she sat up as well. She reached for her hand taking it into hers, "I was just joking" she said to reassure her

"Yeah I know" Jodie mumbled, somewhat not so sure about what Sadie was saying. The blank look she held on her face told Sadie exactly how she felt. There was no way in hell, they wouldn't still be friends and as much as she tried to pick her brain trying to come up with scenarios that could possibly tear them apart—none were efficient enough.

"I know we're in this forever, I just don't know why you're thinking so hard about it" Sadie said,

"I'm not," she looked down at their hands that were intertwine, "you're like my other half—I don't know how to explain it"

"I know" Sadie smiled, "and you don't have too. So to answer your question I think we will still be friends in ten years"

Hearing her say that caused Jodie to pull her into a hug almost immediately. Their bodies pressed together, transferring body heat from one another—it was almost like they could feel each other heart beat.

"Promise" Jodie said, as she slowly pulled away, her hand out but only her pinky sticking out. "You promise this is forever"

"Forever ever" Sadie said, putting out hers as they locked with one another.

"Ayo Sadie" Jay patted her arm softly. Brad staring, watching as she sat there zoned out. "Sadie you okay?" Jay said again this time he decided to shake her.

She jumped, shaking her head as if she just got out of a hypnosis. "Yeah—yeah what's wrong" she looked around to see Jodie still haven't made it out the fitting room.

Jay laughed, "nothing we just noticed you were too quiet and then saw you was sitting here like a zombie"

She gave a faint smile, "just thinking" she said

"Thinking hard as hell" Brad chimed in

Sadie ignored him. If Jay hadn't shook her out her thoughts she probably would've burst into tears. That would've brought even more confusion. The memory of Jodie and her felt like it just happened yesterday. A promise they made to each other that neither thought to keep. "Are you sure you're okay" Jay whispered for only her to hear. Brad went to asking the lady for another glass of champagne.

"I'm fine" she said with a smirk, "I promise"

He stared at her for a while before he finally let it go. It was obvious something was bothering her but Jay and Brad wasn't the ones she needed to talk too.

When the tailor came from around the corner with a smile, Jay and Brad attention automatically went to her—not too far behind was Jodie. Her inches of hair pulled up into a bun, broadcasting her face structure. She looked happy, as she came model walking around the corner. "What y'all think" she said striking a pose, causing Sadie to smile to herself. The tuedxo was a white matching pants and jacket. The only thing detailed was the satin jacket that had diamanté buttons and bows on the sleeve.

"Eh" Sadie was the first to speak, making Jodie eyes avert towards her.

"What you don't like it" she frown, looking down at herself then meeting eyes back with her.

"I don't know" she shrugged

"It's not giving what it was supposed to gave" Brad blurted

The atmosphere grew quiet and within seconds everyone started laughing. Jodie turned to look at herself in the mirror, analyzing how the tuxedo actually looked on her. "I agree with Brad" Sadie said still laughing about what he said. It was too girly for her in Sadie's opinion

"Not your style lil dude" Jay said causing Sadie to point at him

Jodie stood there still holding that same frown, turning to look at the lady, "back to the drawing board Lisa" taking a step off the stoop, she started to walk back to the fitting room until she stopped

"Can you come with me" she looked directly at Sadie

"Me" she pointed to herself which only made Jodie roll her eyes,

"Who else I'm not asking these dudes to come"

"Good" Brad chimed in as he gave a disgust look

Sadie stood from the chair, placing her glass that was still filled of champagne on the table. Putting her cross bag on the right way, she followed behind Jodie and Lisa. Unlike the front area, the lights in the back were a little dim—making it hard to see how one actually looked in the tuxedos. Passing by the first three doors, Jodie stopped at one before she finally pushed it open. "Okay thanks Lisa I'll be right out" she said to her, moving to the side to allow Sadie to come in.

When everything was good, Jodie sighed, turning to face her. "This shit is way stressful than I thought" she said, starting to unfastening the first button on the jacket.

"I mean what did you expect, you're getting married in a few days" Sadie said, taking a seat on the mini bench that was placed in the fitting room, "why did you decide to get a tuxedo at the last minute?"

Jodie stood there, taking each layer off as she neatly hung it back on the hanger. She went to the next tuxedo as if Sadie didn't just ask her a question. "Hello" Sadie furrowed her brows, "are you just gone ignore me right in my face"

"I'm not" she said as she started to put one leg through the pants.

"So what's your answer" Sadie watched her

"I wasn't so sure if we were getting married" she finally said, avoiding all eye contact

Sadie who sat there appalled by her response, waited for Jodie to say she was joking but she never did. "It's just couple problems nothing too serious" Jodie said again, this time having both legs in the pants and pulling them up to her waist.

"Nothing you want to talk about?" Sadie asked, not for her convenience but because she truly wanted to make sure Jodie was okay—after all she was her friend.

"Hand me that" Jodie ignored her again, pointing to the jacket that hung on the side of her. Sadie did as she said, reaching for the jacket and taking it off the hanger. "I'm okay I promise" she smiled, slipping the jacket on as she looked at herself in the mirror.

"Think this might be the one" Jodie stated. A simple traditional tuxedo, not doing the most but still making a statement. The satin shawl lapel and satin buttons on the sleeves gave a modern look to the suit jacket, the matching pants just as basic.

"Yeah I like that one" Sadie stood as she went to examine it on Jodie. Her fingers trailing alongside the hems of the jacket.

"So this is it?" Jodie said again, looking pass Sadie to stare at herself in the mirror.

So infatuated with her standing in front of her she couldn't be bothered to listen to what she was saying. Her eyes leaving the tuxedo, making their way to her lips. Her lips that looked so soft and Sadie knew if they touched hers she was going to be on cloud nine. Jodie caught her staring and scrunched up her face. She couldn't possibly know what was running through Sadie's head.

"You good? She asked, and with everything going completely black, Sadie did the unthinkable. She crashed her lips into hers, not realizing what she was doing until she slid her tongue in Jodie's mouth. It didn't dawn on her that Jodie never pulled away—instead her hand creeped down Sadie's side making it's way to her lower back. Jodie gently pulled her close—closing in the gap they had between them. Their lips smacking against each other, she could feel the feeling behind each kiss they made. The thought of saliva transferring from each mouth didn't even bother her.

She finally felt alive. This all wasn't what she expected—she just went with her intuition and kissed her. Sadie never thought about the outcome, like what if she push her away or if this could actually ruin their friendship. She knew what she was doing was wrong but why did it feel so right. This was almost like destiny and the way Jodie other hand gripped her neck already gave her verification that she was just as into as Sadie was. Even with a pleasant knock on the door it still didn't stop the two. Sadie pinned up against the wall, as their tongues just glide off one another.

"Ms. Peterson?" Lisa said softly

Jodie finally pushed away, their breathing both unsteady as they stared at each other. Neither were able to make out what just happened a few seconds ago.

All Sadie knew was that she wanted more and she knew Jodie felt the same. "Uh yeah" Jodie said, slowly wiping the corners of her mouth

"Are you okay? It was just taking you a minute in there"

Her eyes never leaving Sadie, she couldn't help but plaster regret all over her face. "I'm fine" she stated, finally turning her back to Sadie as she reached for the door.

"Wait" Sadie whispered among them, "can we talk about what just happened"

She honestly wanted to. Just by the look Jodie held on her face she instantly felt bad for what she did. Her mind got to thinking about Beverly—even though the two weren't friends and barely knew each other that didn't justify what she did. But to know that it's a possibility that Jodie could feel something about her, had her mind spinning out of control. Even if they were to forget what just happened, things couldn't go back to normal.

"Nothing happened" Jodie said, Lisa probably still standing on the other side of the door.

"Are you serious" she frown, "we literally just had a—"

"Sadie" she said cutting her off, "nothing happened, we good"

But they weren't and Sadie didn't think they would ever be. "So kissing me didn't mean nothing is what you're saying"

Hearing Jodie sigh only made her realize what Mike said to her last week. "She doesn't love you Sadie and honestly I don't think she ever will". And as much as she wanted to admit that he was right—it hurt her. She could feel her chest tightening up from all the emotions she was bottling in. This wasn't how she imagined this moment—this wasn't how she thought she would feel—helpless, useless.

"Okay so you want to have this conversation right here" Jodie said, turning completely around. Sadie nodded, standing waiting for anything that was going to leave her mouth. She was anxious as she began to sweat in places she normally didn't.

"I'm getting married" Jodie told, "married" she repeated but said it slower as if Sadie couldn't comprehend. "I wasn't even suppose to kiss you back and I shouldn't have. I feel absolutely horrible that I did—Beverly don't deserve that"

"Beverly" Sadie repeated, "fuck Beverly!" She shouted, causing Jodie eyes to widen.

This was it, she could finally express her feelings and how she felt about Beverly truly. "I don't care nor do I think about her when we are together. Yes, I know you're marrying her in a few days but it's obvious you're having second thoughts. You kissed me back Jodie" she started to feel the tears well up in her eyes, "so you telling me that meant nothing—I mean nothing to you"

She couldn't believe she was letting her guard down and allowing herself to feel vulnerable. This was something she held in for the longest and even though she thought she would feel better letting it out—she didn't, she felt even worst. "I'm in love with you" she confessed, the tears now flowing down her cheek. "I've been in love with you since I was sixteen Jodie"

With no hesitation in her actions, Jodie stepped forward as her face softened a little. She brushed her thumb against Sadie's cheek to wipe away the few tears. "Stop crying" she finally said.

"No" Sadie pushed her away, "Im hurt and confused right now, so many emotions are coming out and I don't know what to do"

"How about you take a deep breath and relax" Jodie offered, "I honestly don't know what to say about all of this Sadie. Yeah I kissed you back knowing that I shouldn't have—and I'm sorry" she stopped, wiping away a few more of her tears, "I'm sorry you didn't feel comfortable enough to tell me how you truly felt. I never want to see you like this"

Still not answering her question, Sadie couldn't help but let a few more tears escape her eyes before she finally wiped them away. She looked at Jodie who looked back at her with pity in her eyes—she looked at her as if she felt bad for her. And with that, she pushed pass her, opening the fitting room door. Lisa who was leaning on the wall hopped of it when she seen the door open. When she noticed Sadie was in distraught and her eyes were somewhat bloodshot red she couldn't help but to look between her and Jodie.

"Everything's okay?" She asked them both.

Sadie didn't bother to answer as she continued back to the front of the store. She tried to get herself together before she went back out there with Jay and Brad. What just happened minutes ago, had her feeling lost. She wanted Jodie to confess her feelings for her—then it would be official. The wedding would be cancelled and Sadie would get her happily ever after. When she turned the corner, Jay and Brad eyes went straight towards her—thinking that she was Jodie instead. When Jay noticed how her body language was different from earlier he stood to his feet.

"Hey" he said to her, she quietly tried to walk pass them to leave out the building.

"Sadie" he said again, putting a little pep in his step. He reached out his hand to grab her arm. "What's wrong?"

She was sick of talking about it—sick of telling other people her feelings. It was best for her to deal with her problems by herself. "Nothing I'm fine" she gave him a fake smile but he didn't buy it one bit.

"You sure Sadie" he raised one brow, looking at her sideways, "look like you've bee—"

"I'm okay Jay I swear" she said hoping that he would just drop it and let free of her arm.

From the corner of her eye, she saw Jodie looking over at her. She stood in the mirror as Lisa looked over the tuxedo trying to figure out all the measurements. Jay looked in the direction Sadie was looking and eventually put two and two together. He released her arm, motioning for her to gone ahead and leave like she was about too. She nodded as she darted out the door towards her Jeep. Getting hit with the seventy degree weather, she felt the breeze brush against her skin.

Only a few steps away from her car, she broke down. Falling to her knees she couldn't help but cry her eyes out. Hearing her whimper's herself only made her cry harder. This was unbelievable and the pain she felt was too hard to put into words. There was no way she could be able to drive in this state and she knew it. The only person she could call, was the one who knew the truth all along and tried to get her to see it. Searching through her bag for her phone, it didn't take her long to find the number. Ringing a few times on her end, she was finally introduced to Cynthia's face. She held a smile until she saw Sadie's—it immediately dropped

"What's wrong?" She said in a worry, "Something happened?"

Sadie couldn't bare to explain everything to Cynthia . It wasn't the time to let her know that she was right—she was right all this time and should've listened to protect her feelings. "Sadie you have to say something" she said, watching her closely

"Can you come get me" she said softly,

"Of course" she said, shifting out of bed, making noises on the other end as if she was searching for shoes. "Where are you?"

"At tuxedo kingdom"

"Why are your the-" she stopped what she was doing to look back into the camera, "oh" she said, "okay I'm on my way". She didn't bother to ask any questions because it was obvious why she was there. "And Sadie" she said again

Snot and tears covering Sadie's face,Cynthia couldn't help but smile. Even though she was upset right now she knew she probably looked silly and hopefully this was something she could laughed about in the future.

"Stop crying over that girl" she stated, frowning her face as she rolled her eyes. Sadie couldn't do nothing but crack a smile as she nodded. It was easier said than done. "Don't let her feel like she got the best of you because she don't. And if we being real she not even that cute" she blurted

Sadie was just happy she parked on the other side of the building otherwise they would've saw her crying on the concrete. It was already embarrassing enough that Jodie seen her crying—she couldn't imagine everyone else there. "I'll be there faster than Flash himself" she tried to crack a joke but Sadie wasn't feeling it, "I love you" she said again

"Love you too" Sadie said back before she ended the call.

Somewhere in a virtual reality, she hoped that Jodie would've chased after her and finally confess her feelings. In this reality, there wasn't no Beverly—just them two and she absolutely loved the idea. Bringing her fingers to her lips as if she could still feel Jodie's against hers, she closed her eyes imagining the kiss all over again. It was different from their first—much different and way more intense. If Lisa never interrupted who knows where that simple kiss would've led to.

Jodie felt what she felt and she knew it. She was just in a messed up predicament and didn't know how to come out of it. Beverly was the less common denominator and had to be pushed out the picture. If she never existed—Sadie felt like she could finally have the woman of her dreams. And it would be her instead that would live a happy long life with Jodie as Mrs. Pierce.

Just as they promised each other when they were young. This was forever ever.
