《Our Toxic Love》23.

I was left with only a couple steps until I would be seen by everyone and I couldn't change my mind and go back. As much as I was dreading this a small part of me was building up with excitement, god knows what the hell would happen if we got caught. Snape would probably kill us all.
I wasn't too sure who exactly was there but I could here quite a few different voices. God what was I doing! Urgh come on Ivy! Be a teenager! Be a teenager!! I took my final deep breath and forced my legs to move forward. Before I spoke to make my presence known I took a quick scan of the room. I could see Blaise slouched on a chair with Daphne Greengrass, her legs sprawled across his lap, in her hand was a large bottle of clear liquid.
My eyes wandered again, there was Pansy who was clearly caught in a conversation she didn't want to be in. Crabbe must of been rambling about things she didn't care about because she seemed to be more interested in her bottle which rarely left her lips.
Goyle looked like he was in his own world wandering around the room and then I saw the blonde hair. I couldn't see his face so I wasn't sure what he was doing but he was sat on the sofa with his arm over the back. I watched as his fingertips tapped the cool leather one after another.
"Ivy! Thank god!" Pansy face threw a dirty look towards Crabbe. Her hand ushered me over. "Come here sit!" Everyone's head turned round to me and suddenly I get very in the spotlight. I stopped my hands from awkwardly twitching amongst each other and slowly walked towards her.
I took a seat on a footstool next to her, I tried my best to seem confident and calm but I couldn't help but feel slightly overwhelmed. Pansy passed me over her bottle and mouthed 'drink' to me. I did exactly as she said I lifted the bottle up to my lips and as the liquid began to flow to my throat I felt the unfamiliar burn. I would be lying if I said it tasted nice, in fact it was rather awful. I tried my best not to scrunch up my face but the taste took over. I swallowed it down in one quick motion in hope it stayed down.

"Oh my goodness that is...wow" my face was still working through the after math of the vodka.
"Haha! The first one is the worst! I promise it gets better." Pansy laughed and she took the bottle off me and took a swig. Clearly she was more trained in this than I was as her face never altered.
I looked up in hope that he would be looking at me but he wasn't, he was laughing about some crude joke Blaise had made which was nothing out of the ordinary for him.
I felt so out of my comfort zone, I was already regretting being here but I knew there was nothing I could do now. Time to drink.
After around 30 minutes I was miraculously starting to feel a lot better! Like what did I have to be afraid of. I mean it was definitely the alcohol talking but I was actually enjoying myself. I'd been sat with Pansy the whole time and we had been non stop laughing at what idiots Crabbe and Goyle were. We'd laughed that loud everyone has shushed us I don't know how many times and even though I was sat in the same room as him I didn't feel intimidated, I didn't even find myself constantly scanning for him I was just actually enjoying myself.
"Why don't you try talk to Draco?" Pansy said extremely quietly so no one could hear.
"Ermm no!" I shook my head
"Stop kidding yourself! You know you want to!"
"Yeah you're right I do but no good comes from it! He's just...toxic!" I took another swig from the bottle.
"Aren't they all" Pansy rolled her eyes. "Why don't we play a game?" Oh no seriously! My heart started beating ten to the dozen, I quick took another couple swigs of my drink. I needed all the courage I could get.
"Yeah! Let's do Never have I ever?" Blaise jumped from his seat causing Daphne to almost fall off the chair. "I'll start never have I ever fancied someone in this room?" God what do I do..do I drink? But then everyone will know it's Draco! But if I don't drink what if Draco does drink and then I look horrible but then what if he does drink but it wasn't even for me.

"Would you stop thinking and just drink!" Pansy basically forced the shot into my mouth. I looked around after my drink to see that every single person drank! What the hell! Wait who did Pansy fancy? I flashed her a very confused face.
"Urgh Blaise but ages ago, before I figured out he was a pig" she looked at him with disgust but he was looking somewhere else. I couldn't help but let my mind run away from me thinking about who's Draco's might of been, there was me, Pansy and Daphne. I know Pansy and him have always been close but surely not! Maybe Daphne I knew nothing about her maybe he liked her!
"Ok my turn!" Daphne pointed her hand up and wobbled slightly "Whoops! Anyway...Never have I ever hated someone in this room!" Oh god, my anxiety during this was just not ok. It was safe to say I have definitely had my fair few times of hating Draco so I took a shot, then Pansy whipped the bottle from my hand and took her own. Once again I threw a confused look at her.
"Who?" I raised my eyebrow
"You! Haha! Sorry I mean I like you now if that helps?" She laughed contagiously and I joined in.
"Yes that helps, I mean I probably hated you too a little bit!" She nudged my elbow and a nearly fell off my chair, god maybe I was more drunk than I thought! Jesus I needed sort myself out a little bit.
"I'm just going to nip to the toilets I won't be a sec!" I stood up not so gracefully and headed towards the toilets.
I gave myself a check over in the mirror, my hair had begun falling out of its hold. I opened the claw and let my hair fall down my back.
"Well, well aren't you looking fine." It was Blaise.
"What are you doing in here it's the girls bathroom!" I pointed up to the sign.
"I just thought you might need a hand undoing your buttons" he winked at me.
"What is wrong with you? Fuck off!" I turned back round to mirror.
"Who are you trying to kid baby, you know you want me" he began taking slow steps towards me, his body getting closer to me.
"I'm not kidding anyone 'baby' I want you to fuck off!"
"Let me just get a taste-." Before he could finish his sentence the door flew open I was hoping it was Pansy to come rescue me.
"Zabini what the fuck are you doing? Get the fuck out" Draco's body was stiff and cold. His eyes like daggers with a glare that looked like it could kill.
"Malfoy, I'm trying to have a moment with Ivy here if you don't mind" he pushed his hands into his pockets.
"I do fucking mind and so does she, get out" he spat his words.
"Urgh.." Blaise stormed out and I heard the door shut. I couldn't see anyone in the mirror so I presumed Draco was gone to. I let out a big breath and lowered my head.
"Are you okay?" His voice made me jump in shock.
"Oh my god Draco! I didn't know you were in here!"

Checkpoint
as an anomaly sweeps the world, many gain strange abilities. as for Mal, the power makes it so they cannot die, or more accurately, they get sent back in time to the last place they were safe at. A power that seems like a blessing until you’re crushed under rubble, drowned in sewage, shot, stabbed, all while having the royalties to feel all the pain from such fates. And to put the icing on the cake, a strange message appeared before everyone’s eyes stating that unless someone breaks down the gate within 17 years, everyone will die”. now Mal needs to find a way to “break down the gate” (whatever the hell that means) or they will be forced to die and revive, only to die again for the rest of time. Which would suck, probably. /————————————————— this is technically a time loop novel. the MC is chaotic neutral with a worryingly lack of care about how their actions affect people. i want to interact with my readers so give critique and suggestions. I will sometimes host polls for the personality for new characters, story decisions, and the ability to cancel annoying characters, besides Mal, if they get enough complaints. I am also impatient and will end decision polls when I want to write more. If no one votes, I choose, so don’t let that happen. if you’re want world building check out hitchhikers guide to checkpoint (an encyclopedia of what I made up with lots more explanation)

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
