*This is actually all based off an article I read.*
There are 10 psychological tricks to staying motivated according to this article.
1 The Ulysses Pact
2 Chunking
3 Artificial Positive Reinforcement
4 Visualization
5 Gentle Self-Talk
And so on...
You get the idea.
So first one
1 The Ulysses Pact
So this pact is sticking to something even though it is hard.
Example-
If you want to stick to running twice a week with a friend you can give them a series of checks. If you miss one run they pay for whatever they want with the check. Same with the other way around. If you are younger and basically can't work because that's illegal for you well don't worry you can figure out an alternative. I mean this is just based off an article I read (that is really helpful).
2 Chunking
This is where you have this HUGE assignment and it all seems too much. It's a lot.
So dividing it all into smaller pieces helps.
Example-
You have this essay and it's a lot. Well, we got the thing for you. You just got to do in sections. Do the introduction on day 1 and the do the first paragraph the next day. It all doesn't seem like a lot anymore? Does it?
3 Artificial Positive Reinforcement
They say this for kids ha! (The article says this and guys not saying this article is not good.) This for everyone!
So they use the example of reading the book Moby Dick saying that like you tried again and again to read this book but you can't. So basically for every like I don't know 20 pages you give yourself a reward(like candy, can be anything).
4 Visualization
So, the person who wrote this article thought that visualization was a scam but then went to find out that it actually more help than you think.

So doctor tells you need to lose weight?
Well consider these 2 scenarios from the article.
1 Doctor said I should lose weight. Guess I should eat better. :(
Or
2 Doctor I should eat better. How awesome it would be if I could run and play without losing my breathe.
4 Gentle Self-Talk
So, according to article(someone just count how many times I say that please) we can be pretty mean to ourselves with our self talk. So we should be being nicer towards our selfs and what we do.
Example-
You stopped running earlier then you are supposed to cause you are tired.
Harsh talk- Seriously you couldn't finish? You are so weak. You suck!
Vs.
Gentle Talk- I'm so tired. I gave myself a workout. That's a sign I getting stronger so it's okay if I didn't finish all the way.
See the difference?
Sometimes we just lose motivation and need help getting back on it. See in 2 weeks when I come back with the other 5 ways you can stay motivated Part 2!
Thanks for reading! Wish you guys the best!

The Type Specialist
Alex wakes up in the world of Pokémon. Obviously, the next step is to become a Pokémon Trainer, but not just any Pokémon Trainer. Why should I be mediocre with every type when I can be an expert in one? The Type Specialist is my first attempt to write a fiction. It is solely about travelling the world and building a strong team. Don't expect a solid plotline outside of Alex taking on the Gym Challenge and dealing with small problems that pop up here and there. Updates 5 times a week, every weekday until caught up.
