There are some lectures that you're totally excited for and then there are some lectures that you have second thoughts of attending.

The professor went on explaining today's lesson and he had the projector switched on as well.

I tried hard to keep my eyes open because they wanted to close.

No matter how many times this happens to me, I always wake up half an hour before my afternoon class and I have no choice but to rush. That is the only disadvantage of having your first class in the afternoon.

People around me had their headphones on and some were having a casual whisper chat with their neighbours.

To entertain my head a little I decided to look at my professor's fashion choice.

The pants were just too loose because it looked so baggy. The belt was worn out and the shirt looks fine. For what he wore, he couldn't have had a better hairstyle other than his hair being combed back. His thick big glasses were at the edge of his nose and he stood there lecturing.

I look down at my watch and I mentally let out a sigh of relief.

I looked up to my professor and he was also done with his lecture. The two hours of the lecture was officially over!

Everybody stood up to leave, so did I. I wanted to get away from this room and see the world and maybe grab a coffee or even food because I never had anything to eat since I was rushing for class.

As I stepped out of the class, I pull my phone out to call Emma. I walked to the nearest exit as I waited for her to pick the call. When she did, she informed me that she is in the small cafe where we usually grab a bite from and she bought me food!

I mean, friends who buy you food in times of need are angels sent from above.

The cool winter breeze could be felt through my sweater as I walked through Washington Square Park. It was crowded and I was pretty sure that the school for the day was up because you had girl groups walking into Starbucks and a pack of boys playing football in the centre of the Square.

I walked a little more and I found Emma sitting behind the lovely wooden fence of the cafe drinking from a mug.

"Hey, Em!" I greet her as I sat opposite to her.

"I'm actually surprised that you would even make it for your lecture today." she looks at me and places her mug on the table.

"I just greeted you, Emma, you're supposed to greet me back." I gave her a blank face.

"If you want so, Hey Holly." she gave me a small smile and gestured the waiter to bring in the food.

"Okay, sorry for not greeting you right. I just had some bad lectures today and one of them was a surprise test." she apologises.

"It's okay." I smile. "I couldn't sit anymore in Smithson's class," I tell her.

"Smithson was the one who gave the surprise test. I messed it up big time." She sighed.

A waiter walked to our table and placed a plate in front of me. I looked up to thank him but his blue-grey eyes made me forget my courtesies.

"Enjoy your meal." A smile spread across his lips, so did mine. I nod my head and he turned around to get back to where he was. I turned myself on my seat to see where he headed. I saw him serve another table with his beautiful smile. I could melt, I honestly could but suddenly my thoughts changed and my mind reminded me of how I didn't like boys.

They're all a bunch of jerks.

"I thought you were going to take his number, Holly." I heard Emma ask when I came back to senses.

"Nah, he is attractive and gorgeous but I fell for attractive and gorgeous and look where I am now." I shook my head and looked over to the park. "Don't blame yourself for what happened. It wasn't your fault and not all of them are going to be like that idiot." Emma told me.

I turn my head and look back at Emma. She had concern in her eyes.

You see, Emma can be the most annoying person but she is someone you can definitely count on.

"Emma-" "Don't continue that line. He was your first for everything thing and you definitely wish that he was your last as well but there might be an attractive gorgeous smart guy out there, waiting for you. Just don't think on all this and think about my date with Ryan."

"Emma!"

"Sorry, I was just kidding!" She exclaimed. "Now before the grilled sandwich gets cold, let's eat it." She says.

The three-layered sandwich was really high in calories but considering the fact that I haven't had anything since last night, this is worth it.

There was a good layer of cheese that was soft and melted and then on top of it was a good helping of lemon and herb marinated chicken breast which is poached and shredded for the sandwich and lastly, some lettuce and jalapeño to freshen and spice it up.

How can I describe the sensation that's going on in my mouth? The soft cheese, the perfectly cooked chicken, the kick of vinegar and spice from the jalapeño and crisp crunch of the lettuce and bread. Oh, Emma knew what I wanted right now.

Emma watched me enjoy my sandwich while she had her mini chicken satay salad. Now, do not think that Emma is one of those health freaks who are conscious of their diet. She opted for salad because she wanted to give me company while I satisfied my hungry self.

"Holly?" I heard her ask.

"Yeah?" I respond before taking another bite of my delight.

"Isn't the writer's club meeting today?" I stopped myself from taking the entire bite and looked at her because it when she reminded that I realised that I actually had that today.

Way to ruin a perfect date with my sandwich.

I place my sandwich down and checked my watch and I had twenty minutes to reach there at the exact time.

"If you run, you can make it there," Emma told me, I let out a sigh. "Oh don't be a lazy bum now, Holly. Just go and attend it like you always do." I slowly gathered my belongings.

I got up from my chair and settled my sweater and put my backpack on my shoulder. I gave Emma a hug and told her to pack me one more sandwich to when I got back to the room.

I started walking fast towards the block in which we usually have the Wordsmiths meetings. It's a little closer to the main campus but it still was a bit of a walk from the cafe.

Walking along the sidewalk, I could see the people of my year walking back home. Here I am going to a club that I honestly wasn't very interested in.

Waving my hand to some of the familiar faces, I walked into the block.

The hallway was semi-crowded, many were walking out to head back to their rooms or probably go to a bar to get drunk. I walked past the double glass door that leads me to a silent corridor.

I was soon standing in front of room 024, this is usually where the meetings are held and from the glass on the door, I could see the other members sitting. I knock on the door and open it.

"I'm sorry for getting late, Mrs Robins." I step in and see her standing there.

"You aren't late, Holly. I came in early, come on in and join us." she welcomed me in. The entire room was almost full. Comparing to their arrival, I was indeed late. I smile and walk in towards one of the seats but she stopped me.

"Holly, you need to take a number from this box first." I turn around and Mrs Robins walked towards me with a white box in her hand. I place my hand in the box and pulled out a small piece of paper.

"Now, you find your seat corresponding to the number in your hand." she tells me, I nod and turn back around to find my seat. I got the number eight and I found a chair that had the number eight stuck against the back of it. I walked to it and sat down.

I noticed a boy sitting next to me; I couldn't see his face because he wore a beanie and concentrated in the book he was reading. I mentally sigh and lean back in the chair and waited for Mrs Robins to begin.

Mrs Robins is a very cheerful person you would find here at the University, she gets excited very fast when it came to creative writing. Her blonde brunette hair was made into a neat bun and she wore a lovely maroon knee-length dress with stockings.

"Alright then, since everybody has arrived, Welcome everyone!" She greeted us all with a warm big smile. "I hope you all have been having a good day." she says, everybody nods their head in response.

"Now I wanted to meet up with you was because I came up with an idea the other day and I wanted the idea to come out into practice." She starts.

"We're in the middle of November right now and within a few weeks we will be in December and you all will be going on your winter breaks. So I came up with a task, I want you to all work in pairs." When she mentioned the part of working in pairs, I realized the pattern that each of us was seated in. Everybody had a pair and that meant that the boy who is sitting next to me was my partner.

Well great.

"I want you all to come up with a Winter Tale, A Christmas Story. It could be anything at all but it should connect to winter." Mrs Robins explained our task. "You need to come up with ideas and work as a pair for this assignment, however, this is an individual task and you must have individual stories. Identical work will be disqualified. You can discuss your ideas with your partner and this way you might get a better idea to write on." She tells us.

How does she expect me to interact with someone who I have no clue of? I have no idea who this person is!

"Your work can be of any genre. Romance, Adventure, Science Fiction, Mystery or you can re-invent an old classic." She continues to explain.

The meeting continued for another fifteen minutes and then we were told to leave whenever we wished but only after we interact with our partner.

Oh, she calls our task, A Holiday Homework.

Oh, those terrible Holiday homework days of school!

Anyway, many of the girls in the group were excited to get guys as their partner and some even got their best friends as their partner and here I am with an absolute stranger. Well, I cannot call him an absolute stranger because we go to the same University so I may have seen him somewhere.

The boy turned to me, which I never expected because he was just too silent. I thought I would have to take the first step.

I was wrong, I had to take the first step by introducing myself and I was surprised.

"Hi, I'm Holl-" "Holly Anne Winters" He says my whole name.

How does he know my entire name? I haven't seen this boy or even spoken to him at all. His hair lay on his forehead and the beanie suited him well. His dark blue eyes sparkled behind those nerdy glasses. He wore a jumper with some skinny jeans and a pair of Adidas sneakers. He looked fine I guess.

"You got that right." I smile. "What's your name?" I ask.

"Jasper, Jasper Anderson" he says as he put his bag on his shoulder and held the book in his hand. "I don't want to seem rude but I have to get back to some work." he politely tells me.

"Oh, yeah sure." I nod. "Nice to meet you, Jasper" I say.

"You too, Holly Anne" and with that, he walked to the door and left the room.

I let out a sigh and then quickly realized that I would have to interact with him a lot more because of this "Holiday Homework".
