《Burn Archer》Twenty One- A Secret Spilled

I felt a light pat on my back. "You're not getting rid of me that easily."

"Ash!" I called. "You scared the hell outta me!"

"Why? You do it to everyone around you all the time."

I patted the dragon's skin. "And you know I can't help it."

He gazed at the horizon which was covered by colourful bright swirls. The sunset on Zeig was one of the most stunning sights my eyes had laid on. "What's the plan?"

"Well we have to find a way for the dragon to go into the water, so it gets completely destroyed," I said sternly.

"And how are we gonna meet up with the others?"

"I told them that we're meeting up at the River."

"You mean that river?" Ash asked pointing to the waterfall with the exact description of the one that Tyson had given.

I smiled brightly and answered, "We're not murdering this beautiful creature anymore. Let it go and keep doing what it's made for"

"What's your plan exactly?" Ash complained. "The water fall's on the shore which is at least 200 metres away and this dragon is moving in the opposite direction every second. Let's not forget that we are surrounded by a large ocean just beneath us."

"That's why we need to jump." I whispered. He raised an eyebrow and stared at me in confusion.

"We're gonna swim there. That length is quite easy to cover." I said as I tightened my hair. "See you in the water!"

I grabbed onto Ash's hand and jumped into the icy cold water and let out a small squeal. My hand slipped from his as we hit the water lightly.

I searched the sea around me for Ash but I couldn't see him anywhere. Salt water poured into my mouth as I screamed his name.

I dipped my head underwater and spotted a figure falling deeper into the sea. I swam downwards and clutched onto his hand.

He held onto my hands tight as I tried pulling him up. When our heads were above the water, he spat out lots of water and didn't let go.

"What's the matter with you?" I asked, my voice shaking.

He looked at me angrily. "I can't swim."

I felt my heart skip a beat. I used to think that there were perfect people in this world like Ash and Eleanor, but I was wrong. Even after his whole life of training, he couldn't swim.

I laughed. "You should have said something earlier, anyways just grab on. I'll swim."

He grabbed on to my feet which I lightly pedalled with. Within a couple of minutes, we reached the edge of the shore. Ash climbed on top and pulled me in. We were completely soaked but the weather made it worse.

"Look we made it to the waterfall," Ash said pointing to the glorious rushing river.

I felt a slight bit of hope in my heart to save Earth but I nudged it away, remembering the consequences of having faith.

We walked over to the river and sat silently on the rocks. "Why did you cry after dancing, the other day? You don't have to answer if you don't wanna but I've been curious ever since."

I smiled gently as I gazed at the shining jewels in the sky. "That day, I lost my favourite person. My sister. Her name was Atlantis. She was literally the perfect person.Everyone adored her but I guess God adored her more. Atlantis had a gift to dance; in fact she was gifted at everything she did. That's why I stay away from dance as much as I can."

My heart raced. I hadn't talked about my sister before because I didn't want to cry.

"She sounds a lot like you."

I smiled wryly, "Except she was adopted."

"Atlantis was so brave. That day she saved me from the coward who murdered her," I commented.

"Again, you have that in common," he said as he joined me in staring at the night sky.

I saw his eyes panic a bit as he searched for another topic to talk about. "So how was... is your life on Earth?"

I felt as if someone punched me in the stomach. He referred to my life of Earth in past tense.

"Well I used to go to school like all the ordinary kids, but I had a hard time fitting in. I always seemed to be getting into trouble, for sticking up for what I believed in," I complained. "My family's pretty ordinary just like me"

"Burn I really don't think, no offence, but there is anything ordinary about you," Ash explained. "I was wondering about like your friend life and stuff?"

I thought back to when I used to go to the park after school and play around alone because the other kids my age were too 'old' for it. Also in parties, when my friends tried acting older than they were by wearing inappropriate clothes and playing loud music.

"I had quite a lot of friends but, these days, everyone is quite fake. I never had time for a boyfriend, if you were curious, but people said that boys were usually attracted to me but I never notice," I shrugged.

I rubbed my hands together to create heat. "I'm not a mean person, you know," I spoke after Ash didn't say anything.

"I know."

"The thing is, I don't like to think before I speak, I like to be just as surprised as everyone else about what comes out of my mouth. Same applies to my actions."

He laughed loudly. "She wasn't looking for a knight; she was looking for a sword"

I stared at him curiously waiting for his explanation to the quote. "I heard that as a child, but I never found the right person for it until you."

"Why would you think that?"

"You're a very reckless person. It's irritating. You plunge to you death at every chance that you get," he said.

"My sister and I found this quote on the internet once-"

"Internet?"

"It's an Earth thing" I rolled my eyes. For a few seconds, I had forgotten that I wasn't talking to a human boy.

"Your eyes are gonna get stuck at the back of your head if you keep rolling 'em like that."

"Anyways as I was saying, we found a quote and it was literally our fave," I excitedly said.

"Tell me," he said leaning in.

"There's a special place reserved in hell just for us, it's called the throne," I spoke proudly.

He slowly leaned backwards. "It has a nice ring to it."

"Well I guess she's probably sitting on it right this moment," I said as I forced a smile. "She's might even have a king, you know."

I swallowed hard as I thought about us sitting behind the laptop, huddled in a corner as she read me quotes and explained each of their meanings to me.

"Are you gonna tell me about you now?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

He smiled and folded his arms. "I'm an open book."

"Yet I know nothing about you."

He thought long and hard for a few seconds.

"Eleanor wasn't always my training partner, you know," he paused. "Three years ago, a young boy used to train with me until he ran off after murdering my parents."

I gasped after I remembered what Bethany told me. "You're talking about Raven?"

"So you've heard of him," he muttered.

I nodded and said, "What happened exactly?"

"He didn't show up for training on his last nights of being thirteen and he just wasn't being himself. One night he decided to just leave and when my parents tried to stop him, he killed my dad and injured my mother and took her along."

"Along where?" My mouth felt dry and the words barely left my mouth.

"He's probably sixteen now and I honestly hope that he's rotting in hell because I have no idea where he is," he spoke quietly now.

"Why did your parents try to stop him?"

"Because he was my brother."
