《Burn Archer》Twenty- We Met a Dragon

We ran back into the direction we came from but were stopped by a large dragon's foot. We all glanced upwards with terrified looks and a giant drop of saliva hit us. The dragon glared at us with hungry, fierce eyes.

It looked just like a dragon from the stories I've heard but this dragon, had fire in his eyes as if he would destroy anything that it laid its' eye on. My legs wobbled but managed to take a couple of steps back.

"Eleanor, take everyone to shelter and everyone stays there! The puppy stays with me," Ash screamed to Eleanor as he pointed away.

I angrily glared at him and added, "But I wanna help!"

Eleanor grabbed my arm and forcefully pulled me under a tree.

"We can't just watch them getting hurt!" I shouted as I turned my head around to block seeing Tyson turn into a werewolf and Ash fight the beast with his weapons.

"We can't just stay around doing nothing! Weren't you trained equally as much as Ash?!"

"But my responsibility is to keep all of you safe," Eleanor murmured, not trying to make eye contact with me.

"Isn't that like male domination or something? Giving you a simple job while he fights?"

She shrugged and looked to the ground. "Apparently you're never enough when the boy that you're training with is a lot better"

"Yeah well he's letting a boy who hasn't trained in for months fight there."

Eleanor shrugged, "I guess he doesn't want me to get hurt."

"Who made the boys the boss of who's getting hurt, and who isn't?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "We're strong warriors regardless of our gender, and nobody can tell us what we should do."

"She has a point there!" Ivory screamed said as she climbed off my back.

I looked over to James. "Hey James, can you please tell me everything you know about these dragons, like their weaknesses and stuff?"

He scratched his head as if he was trying to remember something. "Well I do know that the dragons are made up entirely of fire and that when water is applied to any of their body parts then it burns and withers away. But it grows back unless a large quantity is poured on it which in that case stays permanent."

"Damn wasn't that super scientific?" he added. Ivory nodded and glanced over at me.

"Is there a way to ride it?"

"Probably but no one's ever done it before."

I clutched my backpack and jerked my hand away from Eleanor's grip.

"Eleanor, darling, you need to open your eyes and see the bigger picture. The question isn't who's going to let me; it's who is going to stop me," I said with a wink as I raced out of the tree and into the dragon battle.

"Burn what the hell are you doing-" Ash screamed as he saw me jumping on top of Tyson-the-werewolf.

"Okay you need to get me closer to the dragon," I said to Tyson, ignoring Ash's complains.

"But why-"

I gazed into the wolf's eyes. "Please just do it, Tyson."

He raced closer, up to the foot of the beast. "What now?"

"I jump!"

As the dragon bought his face closer to us, I jumped off Tyson and onto its nose. It tried shaking me off, but I continued climbing upwards. I reached between its eyes and stared at the pupils.

"Burn get off right now!" I heard someone shout.

"I brought all these people in this mess, so I'm gonna get them out."

I finally reached the ball of its bumpy head. I clutched on to the skin tightly and screamed with all my might, "I'll meet you guys at the East of the River!"

The dragon began twitching and jumping trying to get me off. It roared as it began running in the opposite direction.

I spun my head around to see my gang but I noticed two were missing. My eyes searched for Tyson and Ash and stopped when I spotted Ash riding on the wolf, coming at a fast speed towards the dragon.

As Tyson was running, Ash slowly stood up and took his balance. As the dragon took off the ground, Ash grabbed onto its feet.

"Oh my goodness, Ash!" I roared as I saw Ash hanging from the dragon's foot as we soared higher into the air.

I searched through my backpack until I found a rope. I scrambled towards the dragon's huge ear and tied one end of the rope around the ear in a strong knot.

"I'm so sorry about what gonna happen to you in the next couple of minutes," I whispered patting the beast. "I've been through so much my friend, and I really would hate to see you die. But you've hurt so many people which you had no right of doing."

I threw the rope down towards his feet and Ash clutched it tight. Suddenly the dragon snorted and wiggled ferociously.

"Hold on tight Ash!"

"I'm trying my trouble-causing-human-friend!"

I felt a smile form on my lips when he used the nickname so I rubbed my cheeks to bring the blood back into my face.

Ash began climbing up and I held on to the rope tight as I saw it unscrewing from the dragon's ear.

"Ash the rope is untying itself because the dragon is moving too much!"

"Well what do I do?!'

"Just climb faster and I'm holding on for backup!"

He increased his speed but suddenly the rope snapped from behind me. I fell forwards clutching on to the rope near my chest.

"Ash just climb! I'm holding on!" I screamed.

I shut my eyes tightly and buried my legs into the dragon's skin to keep my balance.

"I can do this. I can do this," I kept whispering to myself.

I felt the rope suddenly loose all its weight and jerked my head up.

"Oh my god, he fell," I said softly as a tear tumbled down my cheek.
