Rex ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He had to get Ahsoka out of there. He could care less about Lux. His eyes darted everywhere, searching for a something, anything that could help him. The entire labyrinth of tunnels was shaking and tons of terrified workers ran every which way. In the middle of it all, Loomai. He stood there with a malicious look on his face.

"Why are you fools running!" he cried, "Afraid of the rocks? Get back to work, now!"

Rex couldn't help himself. He tackled the trandoshan, pinning him to the ground. Loomai hissed and snapped at Rex, but Rex was too strong for him.

"Listen" he growled, "It is taking all the strength I have right now not to kill you"

Loomai swallowed hard.

"So here's what you're gonna do. You're gonna stop treating your workers like animals and pay them whether you like it or not. You will also never set a foot near Ahsoka again, or so I will make your life so miserable you'll be begging for me to kill you"

The trandoshan's eyes grew very wide and he gave an abrupt nod. A smile tugged at Rex's lip. He was scared. Good.

"Do you understand?" he asked, his voice dangerously soft,

"Yes" Loomai hissed.

"Now where's your money? I think you owe us some credits" Rex demanded, getting off the reptilian being.

Loomai scrambled to his feet and Rex grabbed him by the arm.

"Don't even think about trying anything" he threatened, tightening his grip.

Loomai grumbled something under his breath before leading the way to a hut. They dashed inside and Rex started to rummage through everything, looking for credits. He finally found a large sack near the back of a drawer. He opened it up to see at least fifty-thousand credits filling the bag. He let out a small, hysteric, laugh. This was more than enough to buy a ship.

"You can't just take that!" Loomai protested.

"What? You gonna try and stop me?" Rex asked through his thick accent.

Loomai growled and shook his head. Rex smirked.

"That's what I thought"

He broke off into a sprint still looking for a tool to break Ahsoka out of the collapsed tunnel. He shoved the sack of credits into his pocket before pushing himself to go faster. He stumbled across a pile of tools used in the mine. Perfect. He spied a large pickaxe closer to the bottom of the pile. He pushed all the other tools out of the way, snatching the pickaxe from the pile. Then he ran. To where? He still didn't know.

His feet pounded the ground as he searched for any sign of Ahsoka. He ran for awhile, growing angrier and angrier that he still hadn't found Ahsoka. He roared in fury and chucked the pickaxe to the ground. Nothing. Suddenly he remembered something Ahsoka had said. "Trust in the force" He wanted to keep running, hoping to eventually find his Soka. But if he did, he might end up being too late. So as silly as it felt, he took a deep breath and stopped.

He closed his eyes and focused on Ahsoka. He had to slow down. Where was she? He barely noticed all the other workers running past him. He didn't focus on anything but Ahsoka. That's when he heard it. The faint cry of help. It was too close to the one he heard when he was taken from Ahsoka back on Kashyyyk. His heart ached and his eyes shot open.

"Ahsoka" he breathed.

He picked up the pickaxe and followed his ears to the cry of help, that was so desperate. He just hoped he wasn't too late.

Back at the cave, Ahsoka and Lux were both fighting for their lives now. Carbon Dioxide poisoning seeped into their veins, and made it hard for them to survive. It didn't help that the gash on Ahsoka's leg wasn't getting any better. She was loosing a lot of blood, adding to the light headed feeling. Ahsoka could barely keep her eyes open. She wanted so bad to give in. Give into sleep, and the darkness that followed. But she knew she shouldn't. She had to stay awake for Rex. He would come and save them.

"Help!" she screamed for at least the tenth time.

No response. Just the eerie silence, with the occasional raspy breath of either herself or Lux.

"Ahsoka" Lux started, "We aren't gonna get out of here"

She sucked in a sharp breath then coughed violently.

"Don't lose hope" she croaked, "We'll get out of here...I promise"

She felt her life slipping away, through the cracks of the pitch black darkness. "Don't give in" she pleaded to her soul. But her hope was slowly slipping away as well. She used all her strength to pull herself up to the small hole, sucking in a hoarse breath of air. She feared...that she might not make it out alive.

"Rex" she rasped, before falling back down to the stone floor. The last thing she saw was someone running towards her, then everything went black.

Rex ran faster to where he last heard the tiny togruta's voice. She must be around here somewhere. Then he heard a final weak plea of help. Ahsoka. He darted around the corner to see a small hole. Ahsoka was there. He could feel it. He peered through the small hole and stifled a cry of terror at the sight. Ahsoka's skin was a sickly white, her montrals were faded, her eyes were closed, and her chest was rising and falling just barely. She also had a revolting wound on her thigh, the blood from it creating a puddle around her body.

"Ahsoka!" he cried.

She didn't move. He bit his lip as hard as he could, soon tasting blood. Then without thinking, he swung the pickaxe. He slowly chipped away at the rock, pieces flying in every direction. He was breathing heavily. He wasn't strong enough. No. He had to be. He threw the pickaxe up over his head before crashing it down on the rocks in front of him. The rocks began to fall, tumbling around an unconscious Ahsoka. Lux was sitting with his back to the wall, also unconscious. Rex would take care of him later.

Rex jumped down into the tunnel and scooped the togruta up into his arms. It hurt his heart to see her like this, so pale and cold. Her skin was ice, freezing to the touch. And she didn't have her warm glow, or cheery smile to welcome him. Before Rex knew it, he was running with her still in his arms.

"Help!" he screamed, "I need a doctor!"

Ahsoka was weightless in his arms, but he fell to his knees. All the stress and fear was weighing him down. There was nothing he could do to stop it. Angry tears streamed down his face and he let them. Just then Ahsoka's eyes fluttered ever so slightly.

"Rex" she breathed.

Her arm shook as she weakly cuffed the side of his face with her hand. Rex took her hand in his, holding her palm on his cheek.

"Stay with me Soka" he begged, "Please..."

She opened her mouth to say something but her eyes closed, earning an angry sob from Rex. Suddenly a group of people came gallivanting towards Rex. It was the people from the refuge camp. They dashed up to Rex, solemn expressions on their faces.

"She needs help!" Rex cried, "A tunnel collapsed- she was inside- no oxygen-"

They seemed to understand as two men lifted her up onto a stretcher and hooked her up to several medical equipment. They shouted orders at each other and ran towards a transport shuttle. Rex wanted to follow and just forget about the rest. But he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he did.

"Wait!" he yelled.

A number of people turned around, the chaos seeming to fade in the background.

"There's another," Rex said.

He led them back to the tunnel where Lux lay. They picked him up as well and got him on a stretcher. Once he made sure they got Lux, Rex ran back to where Ahsoka was. Medics wheeled the two onto the shuttle, Rex following close behind. Then they took off, leaving the mine and all the panicking people. Rex wished he could help them. But there were so many. He wanted to blame this all on Loomai, but deep down he knew the collapse of the tunnels wasn't his fault.

The entire ride Rex stayed by Ahsoka's side. He laced their fingers together and gripped her hand tightly. Fearing if he let go, he might not ever get to hold her hand again. The shuttle shook violently sending Rex practically on top of Ahsoka's limp body. He stopped himself right before he crushed her. Then he grabbed a handle on the ceiling of the ship to balance himself. He suddenly remembered about the whole incident with Loomai and reached into his pocket. Thankfully, he found the sack of credits. They were finally going to get off this planet. Away from Loomai, Garm, and away from Lux. It wasn't that long of a flight, and soon they landed back at the refuge camp.
