"Run!" cried the petrified voice of Lux.
Rex made a break for the entrance, Ahsoka and Lux following closely behind him. Suddenly he heard a crack in the cave ceiling. Rex whirled around just in time to see as rocks fell down, trapping Ahsoka and Lux on the other side. The last thing he saw was the look of pure terror on Ahsoka's face.
"Ahsoka!" he screamed running over to the pile of rocks.
He started to chip away at the rocks, throwing the smaller ones behind his back. He tried to pick up a larger one only to have it crash, just barely missing his foot. He fell to his knees, running his hands through his hair. Gone. His Soka was gone. He couldn't live without her, he wouldn't. He needed her in his life. Without Ahsoka, Rex's life had no meaning. How could he let this happen?
"Ahsoka!" he cried through angry, hot, tears.
"Rex?!" called the muffled voice of Ahsoka.
She was alive. Relief poured over Rex like a waterfall and he choked back a sob.
"Ahsoka" he choked out wiping a tear from his cheek, "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine, Lux and I are trapped. We are going to try and find another way out" she explained.
A wave of anger washed over Rex and he pounded his fist on the nearest rock. Lux was with her. That son of a bantha. If he tried anything, Rex would personally see to it that he was killed. Rex let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and pressed an ear to the rock pile.
"Are you alright?" Ahsoka asked, a hint of worry in her tone.
Rex nodded, "Yeah Soka, I'm fine"
She heard as she sighed with relief.
"Ahsoka" Rex called.
"Yes?" her muffled voice replied.
"Stay safe" he pleaded.
"I will" she murmured.
"I need you to stay alive" Rex pointed out, "I-"
There was a moment of silence.
"I-i need you" he blurted out.
Behind the wall of rocks, Ahsoka gave a sad smile.
"I need you too Rex" she admitted, "I'll be alright, promise"
The small hand of Ahsoka came through a hole in the rocks. Rex dashed over and put her hand into his own. Their fingers intertwined and he kissed the top of her hand gently. He let her hand go and watched, as painful as it was, as it disappeared once more. Rex kept trying to convince himself that everything was going to be alright. She was going to be okay. He would make sure of it.

Ahsoka sucked in a sharp breath before peeling herself away from the pile of rocks. She rubbed her arms and shook off the multiple scenarios that flashed through her head. None of them ended with her surviving. Just the thought of having to live without Rex shook her to the core. She got chills and bit her lip, thinking of all the things they would miss out on together.
"So I guess we're alone" Lux purred, scooting ever so slightly closer to the togruta.
"Hopefully not for long" Ahsoka muttered so he didn't hear her remark.
Lux threw her a sideways look, clearly hearing a bit of the comment. Ahsoka just cleared her throat and began to look around. The hole in the pile was the only light source, the tunnel itself was dark, an inky blackness. She could echolocate with her Montrals, but Lux couldn't. She would have to guide him. She gagged at the thought of having to hold hands with the boy.
"How are we going to get out of here?" Lux asked.
"All these tunnels must be connected in some way. So we have to find another way out" Ahsoka pointed out.
"I-i won't be able to see a thing!" Lux sputtered, "It's way too dark in here"
"You see these?" Ahsoka asked, pointing to her Montrals.
Lux nodded.
"These are Montrals. I can use them to see what's in front of me without having to use my eyes" Ahsoka explained to a confused Lux.
"So you have echolocation?" Lux questioned, slowly processing the statement.
"Yes," Ahsoka said.
"Looks like you're alright, but what about me?" Lux questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll guide you," Ahsoka said, trying to keep the regret from seeping into her response.
"Oh" Lux said with a sly smile, "Ok"
Ahsoka tensed, she wished Rex was here instead of this karkingg idiot. Then maybe, just maybe, they would survive. But with Lux, Ahsoka had her doubts. Rex was probably just as upset about the turn of events as her. Afterall he was very protective of her.
She took his hand and began to walk into the unknown. Lux hesitated before following her into the darkness. He started to play with her hand. First nudging his thumbs across her hand, then swinging his arm. He enjoyed the hand holding a lot more than Ahsoka. She tried very hard to touch his hand as least as possible, while still helping the blind boy.

Ahsoka closed her eyes and walked casually. Normally in an event like this, people would start to panic and freak out. But Ahsoka was used to these types of things by now. She could feel everything around her. Currently they were walking down a narrow tunnel, with stalactites hanging above them. They walked for what seemed like forever, still no sign of an exit.
"Anything?" Lux asked for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"For the last time Lux, I'll tell you when I find anything" Ahsoka growled, rolling her eyes.
Suddenly a stalactite hit Lux right in the head. He grunted and stopped to rub his sore noggin.
"Ow what was that for?" he asked.
"For not shutting your kriffing mouth" Ahsoka cooed.
Lux muttered something under his breath about him not talking that much before going quiet again. Just as Ahsoka started to focus again she felt something slice her thigh. She cursed and fell to the ground, clutching the wound.
"What?" Lux asked, "What happened?"
"I must have missed a stalagmite" Ahsoka grumbled, putting a hand to her thigh.
She could feel the blood pouring out of it, but she could only guess how deep or large it was. Still holding her hand, Lux knelt next to her and felt around for the gash. His hand ventured around several places. It landed first on her waist, then her cheek, and finally her leg. Ahsoka held her breath and prayed that this would be over soon. His hands were ice, freezing to the touch. Unlike Rex's, which were warm like the sands of Tatooine.
"Where is it?" Lux asked.
"A little higher" Ahsoka gasped.
He slowly slid his hand up her leg, landing on her thigh. Ahsoka resisted the urge to slap him and leave him in the tunnel to rot. But she knew better.
"There?" he questioned.
"Yeah" Ahsoka breathed.
Ahsoka heard as Lux tore off a piece of his shirt. Then goosebumps covered her skin as he wrapped the fabric around the gash. She tried to get to her feet but fell right into Lux's arms.
"Your weak" he whispered into her ear, "Let me"
Ahsoka swallowed hard, Lux swinging her arm over his shoulder. She put most of her weight on the boy, as her leg was burning and felt like it was on fire. She grinded her teeth and clenched her jaw. She could sense Lux's glee at helping her, it made her sick. But she stayed silent, knowing that he would be the one to help her survive. She just needed to trust in the force.
They walked for another hour or so, stumbling down the long passageways that seemed to go one forever. Ahsoka felt light headed at the expense of the amount of blood she lost. Lux seemed to notice she was getting weaker and rubbed her back reassuringly. That just made Ahsoka feel worse. Finally Ahsoka collapsed, falling to the stone floor.
"Ahsoka!" Lux cried feeling around for her form.
His hand landed right on her chest and she grabbed his wrist in a death grip. He gave a yelp of surprise then quickly took his hand back.
"Don't do that again," she warned.
"Ok" he said, his voice terribly shaky.
Ahsoka's breaths were raspy and uneven. She put a hand to her forehead to feel it was hot to the touch. She was burning up. The air in the tunnels was stale, and thick with moisture. It was also in short supply, Ahsoka's head was throbbing from the lack of oxygen. She gasped for breath but it didn't seem to help. Their time was running out. The low oxygen seemed to affect Lux too, as Ahsoka could feel him swaying next to her. Her eyes darted every which way until they landed on a small sliver of light. A way out.
