《Sure Thing, Commander ✔︎》5

Ahsoka patted the Tach's head and it gave a small growl before going on it's own path. Rex took his blasters from out of his pockets. He spun them on his fingers, stopping when they landed in his palms. He smiled and began to inspect the DC-17 pistols. Ahsoka took a step forward, looking over Rex's shoulder at the guns. She had always seen Rex use them in battle but here they looked quite harmless. Ahsoka knew better than to believe that though.
"Here" Rex muttered, handing Ahsoka one of the hand blasters.
"Really?" Ahsoka questioned confused, "I don't wanna break it or-"
"It's fine" Rex interrupted, "Plus I have a spare"
Ashoka hesitated before taking the blaster. She'd never fought with anything other than her light sabers. This was going to take some getting used to. She weighed it in one hand, moving the blaster in her palm up and down. It was heavy, heavier than her light sabers.
"Hold it like this" Rex said, showing an example with the other gun.
Ahsoka mimicked his form and where his fingers were. Rex shook his head and grinned. He stepped over to her and moved her finger up a little.
"Like having to teach a shiny" he smirked.
Ashoka sent a half glare half playful look in his direction. Rex put his hands up playing dumb. Ahsoka knew he wasn't as innocent as he seemed.
"But teaching them isn't that bad" Rex recovered rubbing his neck.
Ahsoka laughed and aimed the blaster at a nearby tree. She fired and completely missed. Rex crossed his arms and paid close attention as she shot three more times, missing those as well.
"Your stance is sloppy," he complained.
He walked behind her and started to fix her position. He pulled her shoulders back, tipped her chin up and helped her to the side a little. Ahsoka's cheeks went pink and she held back a slight grin. When he finished he crossed his arms again and watched as Ahsoka missed every time she fired the hand gun. Ahsoka growled in frustration and shook her head.
"Looks like we're gonna have to go all the way back to the basics" Rex declared, running a hand over his short blonde hair.
"I suppose" Ahsoka replied, "Doesn't seem like I'm improving at all"
"You've only had the blaster for a couple minutes" Rex pointed out, "Maybe not even that"
Ahsoka dropped her shoulders and fell back into her relaxed form. Rex led her through the woods to a clearing with a stump in the middle.
"Sit" Rex commanded pointing to the stump.
"Yes sir, Captain" Ahsoka said sarcastically.
A small smile spread across Rex's face and he looked pleased. Then Rex suddenly remembered the ship, his brothers, the clones, Jesse. His stomach twisted into knots and his heart sank like a stone. He remembered teaching a new batch of rookies all not that long ago. Before Order 66 and all the chaos that came with it. All his friends, family were now with the empire. They had turned to the dark side. Leaving him the odd one out. Teaching Ahsoka was going to bring back some painful memories. But Rex knew he had to do it. For Ahsoka.

"Rex?" Ahsoka said, breaking him out of his trance, "You okay?"
Rex nodded quickly, "Fine, now let's get started"
He began to explain the importance of the blaster. He continued to show Ahsoka the stances, as well as telling her about the different types of guns. Ahsoka seemed to be genuinely interested. She nodded along and repeated facts to show she was listening. Rex liked being able to share his knowledge with someone. It seemed fresh, new, in a way. But also old, nostalgic, like a path he had been down before.
The next thing Rex talked to Ahsoka about was the multiple purposes of a blaster. Mainly they were used in war. To shoot the opposing side. But you could also attach grappling hooks to pull you up a building, or swing across a canyon. Ahsoka seemed to understand as she recalled some events that related to the subject. Rex explained that when on the ship he used the blaster to stun the clones. This didn't necessarily hurt them, it just caused them to stay still or be paralyzed for the time being.
Just thinking about the memory made Rex's heart ache. His lungs burned and he suddenly felt like he wasn't getting enough air. He gasped for breath, his face feeling very hot. Ahsoka gave him a concerned look and Rex just shook the memory off not wanting to get off topic.
"We don't have to do this if you don't want to..." Ahsoka started.
"No it's fine I want to teach you" Rex said sucking in a sharp breath.
Ahsoka nodded slowly and Rex continued his rant. He explained all this to Ahsoka for a while, giving her pop quizzes, and asking her questions. Finally he deemed her ready and she got up to shoot. Rex pointed to a Wroshyr tree to their right, that was going to be the target. Ahsoka remembered her stance and aimed her gun at the large tree. She closed one eye and squinted at her target.
She pulled the trigger, firing the pistol and hit the tree off to the side. She laughed out of glee and fired again burning a hole into the core of the tree. Rex smiled, proud of his pupil. He walked up behind her and put his hands on her hips. Ahsoka's skin crawled with goosebumps just from his touch. She stopped as he guided her hips to the side, correcting her form.
"Make sure to stay turned to the right" he reminded her with an awkward cough.
Ashoka bit her lip, trying to stifle her laughter. She aimed his blaster again and shot, nearly missing the ginormous plant. Rex's brow was furrowed as he was trying to figure out what was missing. A light bulb went off in his brain and he jogged up behind her.

He moved her arm up a bit and Ahsoka could feel his breath on her neck. A shiver ran up her spine and her eyes darted, trying to focus on anything but his touch. His warm hands were once again turning her hips to the side. They lingered there just a moment longer than last time.
"Keep your hand at shoulder level" he pointed out.
He slid the back of his hand over her arm, lowering it at the same time. He stopped at her hand and nudged her finger lower on the trigger. Ahsoka was sweating now, her stomach full of butterflies. What was happening to her? Why was she feeling this way? She never felt this way before. Now all of the sudden whenever he was around, the feeling followed.
He brushed away her lekku so that they slid from onto her shoulders, to falling near her back. He insisted that it would help her aim. She found herself letting her stance fall but Rex correcting it once more. He pushed her arm back up and she felt her face get hot.
"Keep the correct form" he advised.
He slowly stepped away and back to the area where he was observing her. He waited for her to fire. After all, he wanted to know if his corrections had helped. Ahsoka took a deep breath and aimed the pistol. She pointed it straight at the large tree and fired one more. This time the plasma energy hit the tree dead in the center.
Rex let out a muffled sound, trying to keep his mouth from hanging open. He looked at her in pure awe and Ahsoka gave him a thumbs up. He returned the gesture clearly more enthusiastic about the small victory.
"How did I do?" Ahsoka asked, trying to spin the blaster on her finger.
She ended up dropping the blaster and trying to save it by tossing it from hand to hand. Rex choked back his laughter and cleared his throat.
"I think you did amazing" he admitted, "You are ready"
Ashoka beamed at the clone, those words made her light up inside. A warm tingly feeling filled her chest and she tried to push it down. She didn't want to give Rex the wrong idea. But she couldn't help the wonderful feeling he gave her whenever he was around.
"I'll show you the guns you can choose from," Rex announced.
He put his hand out and Ahsoka set the borrowed blaster on his palm. Rex closed his hand feeling the trigger on his index finger. He gave a light sigh of happiness before spinning the pistols again, and shoving them back into his pockets.
"Let's head back to camp," Ahsoka said.
Rex agreed with a quick nod and followed her through the dense jungle. She seemed to know where she was going. Rex hoped she did, because he didn't have a clue as to where they were. There was a bounce in her step as she walked. Rex could only imagine what caused it. Maybe it was learning to shoot a handgun. Maybe it was being in the jungle. Maybe it was... No Rex doubted that was the reason.
They arrived at the camp to see nothing had changed. Surprisingly no dangerous animals or natives had burned the whole place down. Rex sighed in relief. He would rather not be stranded on this planet. Especially with terrifying creatures that could kill you within an instant.
Ahsoka stopped by the ship. This was the part where Rex could lead the way. She knew where the closet was but figured Rex would want to show her all the guns he had to offer. He accepted the gesture and guided her to a long hallway on the ship. He took a right leading her to a corner with a cramped closet. He pried the door open and they let out a long groan. Ahsoka blinked as she was staring at twenty maybe thirty shiny blasters.
"Pick one," Rex urged, leaning against the wall, his arms crossed.
Ahsoka put a finger on her lip and tried to figure out which of these guns would best fit her. She ran her finger across a rather large one. It was a sniper rifle with a large scope, it was quite bulky. A smaller one in the corner caught her eye. It was only the slightest bit bigger than her hand, and seemed to be harmless.
Suddenly her finger landed on a small silver pistol. It was cold to the touch and small enough to fit in her pocket. It looked a lot like Rex's handguns but was smaller and fit her more. Ahsoka picked it up and aimed it at the wall. It was a lot lighter too. It felt similar to her light sabers.
"This" she began, "Is the one"
"Then it's yours," Rex replied.

Wooden spears and protective cuirasses? You got it! Healing tonics and farming equipment? Sure! Elaborate cupcakes and customizable fantasy golems? Darn straight! Weapons with a broken amount of different buffs applied to them due to the crafting process and materials used? You know it! The most amazing fishing rod to ever exist? Well, obviously. Fishing is the true endgame only after crafting, after all! So, if you like alchemy, blacksmithing, carpentry, cooking, leatherworking, tailoring, engineering, rune forging, magical enchanting, or basically any other type of crafting found in RPGs, come check the story out! An omnicrafter doesn't just focus on one specific type of crafting. A true omnicrafter is the best at all types of crafting! *This is a meme, I'm not sponsored by FFXIV, please don't hate me. A Hunt Upon Wings of Shadows
Lianne has spent the last few years of her life as a nomadic monster-hunter, aimlessly taking jobs and disappearing without a trace. Her innately high ether reserves are the only thing that’s keeping her alive. After a painful yet successful contract, she receives an offer to hunt a peculiar beast from a mysterious man who- much to her dismay- pairs her with a man by the name of Sirius, a skilled swordsman with too much empathy to give out. At the same time, inside the impossibly tall walls of the divine city, a group of soldiers including a naive yet powerful girl by the name of Felicia, an exemplar soldier named Raynauld, and a scarred and aloof woman named Maria prepare to head out on a mission to deliver justice to a deserter who is reported to be in a large town far outside the lush interior of the city. However, the two groups will find that their paths will intertwine, and painful memories will push them against each other at every turn, with new monsters emerging from the shadows to pick each of them apart piece by piece. ************************** Alright, so this is the first book I've posted here, and I've been sitting on this idea for a long while. I'm open to any pieces of criticism, and I would be glad to receive tips and advice. Enjoy! Normally, new chapters come out Saturday nights, sometimes double uploads if there's a short chapter or if I feel like it. That's subject to change if I run out of the current backlog. Second note, this is the first draft, and some things (like a few characters) are going to be cut. It's still going to be the same storyline, but keep that in mind.
