Tiny twigs and vines crawled up the hut which Bellona lived in with her Aunt and Uncle.
The vines looked like they were going to swallow the house any moment soon, revealing how long the hut had been in existence.
Sat outside was Bellona, with knees close to her chest and her long hair swaying back and forth.
Her calm eyes were puffy, while her lips appeared red as if drenched in blood.
She stared at nothing in particular, as she sulked, thinking back to the occurrence in Grirendra.
She had seen people getting killed before, but never for once had she seen one dying right in front of her, up close. And the main reason was because she couldn't keep her lips sealed.
Tears streamed down her face as memories of the boy's face came flashing in her eyes. Remembering how quick his skin turned cold made her gulp.
His blood was in her hands, and that was something that would forever stay with her.
"Bellona" She heard someone say her name.
She didn't bother raising her head up, as she knew already who it was.
"It wasn't your fault"
Pavlos' voice was calm filled with much concern.
There was silence for a while, not until Bellona spoke up, easing the tension which filled the air.
"Maybe it was. Standing up to him was stupid of me. What was I thinking?" Her voice wavered as she spoke.
She finally raised her head up to look at Pavlos, revealing the tears which flooded her eyes.
"You did what was right, Bellona."
"Stop" She gasped.
A lady walked out of the dome which Bellona was sat in front of—Her aunt.
Eyes bearing lots of sadness, while staring on at Bellona, who seemed to appear disturbed.
"Bellona" She called.
"Crying won't bring that boy back" She uttered in a soft voice.

"His death wasn't your fault. And even if it was, I am proud that you stood up for what was right"
"You should come in and eat. I'm gonna send my condolences to his mother. The poor lady needs all sympathy"
Aunt Jaelynn retreated back into the dome after much consoling, leaving Bellona and Pavlos out in the yard.
"Our Village is a small one, but doesn't mean we should be oppressed. We're gonna fight together, for ourselves, to keep the heritage of Lorwich going, even if it means blood being spilled" Pavlos said to her.
"I'm not fighting anymore"
The words that rolled out of Bellona's lips made Pavlos' jaw twitch. His eyes pierced into her, trying to understand what she meant.
"What?" He asked unsure.
"I do not want anyone else dying because of me"
"Thousands are gonna die if nothing is done!" Pavlos uttered in a loud voice.
"I am no longer fighting, Pavlos."
With that, she stood to her feet, walking into the tiny dome, shutting the door and turning its lock.

I wrote this when I was 16/17 (which was many years ago now!) on a really old PC I called Phylis. I remember having to print it out on an old ribbon printer to submit it to publishers - this was back before esubs were the norm! It never got picked up and I ended up self publishing it. I hope you enjoy.
