《Orion》7

A man who gets scared easily is bound to die quickly, So they say. And it seemed to be the same, as fear rested in the hearts of all of the villagers of Lorwich.
Heartbeats thumped, as they went through the woods which led to the path of Cedric's kingdom in search of Food.
Leading them bravely, was Aiden, alongside Bellona and Pavlos.
They had all been walking for hours going through villages and towns, but despite all efforts put into the search, they still couldn't find none.
Resting up in the sky was the evening sun which was slowly playing its part in the dusk of day.
All of the villagers with keen eyes and perked up ears, made sure they were cautious enough not to run into any of Cedric's guards, else it would be turmoil for them. That was certain.
They were going deeper into Grirendra when they were met with a dozen horses riding their way, blocking them from going any further.
The horses soon came to a halt right in front of the villagers, while the very horse which led the rest, hoofed and neighed as its rider got down bearing enough glory and grace to leave any man gaping.
The person had on a helmet which kept his face well hidden from view.
While the rest of the riders stayed sat on their horses, he, got down from the animal, slowly taking off the helmet worn on his head, thence, revealing himself to the villagers.
"Orion" Low murmurs could be heard, as he made his approach.
The lips of Bellona parted instantly, eyes widened, goosebumps appearing on her arms the moment her gaze rested onwards, staring confusedly at the person stood feet away from her.
Breaths got hitched in her throat, with her gaze keen on the figure of the young man.
How could it be?
She was certain she had seen him in a dream.

A dream that had no meaning to her.
Left in a state of shock, she recalled seeing him in a battle while he fought with a thousand soldiers, bearing the last strength he had. That, she remembered vividly.
The darkness of his eyes seemed to pierce the young lady's soul, as he stood feet away, with no expression whatsoever written on his face.
For the first time in her life, she was face to face with him.
She had had dreams of him a couple times, but never for once had she seen him in reality.
It was scary she wanted to run away, but was paralyzed with fear. Sickening fear.
She found herself looking at him, desperately longing for him to come towards her, but he did otherwise. He turned his back to her and called out to the other soldiers who were sat on the horses.
"What have we got here?" He spoke for the first time since his arrival.
His boots clicked lightly while he moved forward.
"Please!" Pavlos broke in.
"We do not want any trouble" He braced himself, while earning the gaze of Orion.
"Oh, trust me. I also do not want any of that. I came here to drop a message for you"
Orion stepped forward, standing directly in front of him.
"Stay away from my father's kingdom. We've been told that you've been stealing crops from us"
He turned his head to the side, staring at the villagers.
"But we're not in your kingdom. We're not in Brilthor. We're in Grirendra" Pavlos uttered.
"Y'know, you're right. I wonder what Cedric would do to you if he finds out you're invading his kingdom" Orion spoke in a calm voice.
"He invaded ours first" Pavlos responded immediately.
Seeing what was happening, Bellona stepped forward.
"We didn't cross your territory for just no reason. We were starving, children were dying"
She didn't realize she was speaking not until all eyes turned to look at her, including the fierce ones belonging to Orion.

He took a step away from Pavlos, moving towards her slowly, his eyes never leaving hers.
She grew tense watching him draw closer to her, yet she went on.
"We were only in search of food. We meant no harm"
"I'm gonna say this one more time, If I see any one of you lot in MY kingdom, trust me, you do not wanna know what I would do" His voice remained calm.
"So you're gonna watch people starve all because of some reputation?"
"Feeding them is not my responsibility" His voice rose a little as he responded.
"Please!..... All we ask is just little food for the time being, We'll bother you no more after that. I give you my word" Bellona pleaded.
"DO NOT ENTER BRILTHOR AGAIN! And that's final. This is a warning from my Father, Lucas Brennan"
The anger which rested in the eyes of the young man was threatening and killing.
"People are gonna die" Bellona's voice faltered at each utterance she made.
"I don't care what happens to them. I have seen thousands die, why should a few more make a difference?"
The girl's heart thumped hard, it seemed she would burst any moment.
Her eyes bore into him, hoping to see some sign of kindness, at least a smile, but there was none.
She heard Pavlos call her name softly in a bid to stop her from doing anything silly, but she ignored him, going on.
"Perhaps what people say about you is true"
She matched his gaze, hers strong, his, coated with fury.
"You're a pig!.......just like your father, With no ounce of affection" She spat.
The young man's jaw twitched, listening to the girl go on.
It took a while for her voice to die down, and right then, he began advancing towards her, staring deep into her eyes.
"Do not test me" He warned.
"Whatever will you do?"
"Get your father to make us homeless? That's all you lot know how to do. Right?
"You've got no affection whatsoever. And trust me when I say this, you're helpless!" She retorted.
There was silence for a while, birds giving a call of warning from up the trees, while staring down at the scene below, as the duo stood staring at each other, neither wanting to glance away.
Even the soldiers on the horses watched closely.
The lips of Orion quirked as he stared her down, giving a light chuckle.
Jaw clenched tight, and in a swift motion, he drew his sword out, flipping it quickly, and then thrusting it deep into the chest of the boy stood feet away, right next to Bellona.
A high pitched scream broke the silence of the woods, with an older lady running towards the boy, while he spat out blood, clutching his chest, and slumping to the grounds.
Bellona crouched down immediately next to the boy, placing her hands over his chest, trying to stop the flow, but it seemed not to be working.
She looked up at Orion, tears in her eyes and utter shock on her face.
"Who's helpless now?" He uttered in a low breath.
He gave a quick smirk, jumped on his horse, then rode away with his soldiers right behind him, not a bit fazed by the dying boy sprawled on the ground.
The young man soon rode far out of sight, while onlookers rushed to the boy who had been struck, trying to render aid to him, but it seemed late already.
The boy laid in his own blood, eyes widely opened and a deep cut on his chest, with his skin slowly turning cold.

Decompose!
Dear diary. When you read stories about some people missing and returning after years of absence claiming they were living in another world, your first reaction is to scoff and dismiss a story as a tall tale, right? I know I did. All the time. Until it happened to me and I no longer did. That day was today. Some god of thunder smote me. If it were Chris Hemsworth, I wouldn't mind but it was some barbaric Hitite god that abaondned Earth some four millennia ago. Yes, what can I say? I love the seventh art. I have more hours watching movies than any other activity, including sleep. What? Do you think I'm exaggerating? Maybe I am. I'll really miss hollywood the most. And my biggest regret is that I never got to visit the holy city of cinema. I did not come to another world to be a hero even though there was hints that they hoped I'd save it. I did not come with overpowered abilities able to, dunno, leap tall castles in a single bound, faster than a speeding crossbow bolt, be more powerful than a eight-horse carriage, the bounds. No. After the asshole god that murdered me brought me to his world, he gave me some boons from his discount bin and "The Power of my Soul (tm)". Forgive my french, I hope you understand I am rather upset at dying. And he somehow decided that my power is to recycle stuff. How awesome is that? Not much at first, I must admit. At least I got all my camping stuff and equipment with me. There's no lycra in the other world. I'll make it someday, but that day is not today. So here I am. In another world, in the middle of nowhere. I'm no heroine. As the song goes, I'm your basic average girl. And I'm assumed to be here to save the world. But almost everything can stop me, because I'm not named Kim. Wish me luck, diary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This novel is going have the following features: slow-paced slice-of-life No GameLit / LitRPG elements. Movie references. Sandra likes the seventh art. Journal / diary style crafting (includes chemistry, engineering and metallurgy) low magic technological advancement (for Sandra, at least. She is not against sharing though) personal relations clash of perception between the modern and ancient customs. bits of tension, fighting, and plot here and there. I won't repeat myself though. Once she crafts a good batch of soap, for example, she'll just note, "I crafted soap again." Once it is estabilished how she obtains compound X, compound X2 that is obtainable from the same process will also just be mentioned. I'll try to be as realistic as I can with the crafting, chemistry, and technology. Cover: Public Domain Image by StockSnap from Pixabay. No attribution required but we do it anyway.
