《What's Really Hood》SIX

'I ain't get no sleep 'cus of yall! Yall not gon' get no sleep 'cus of me!'
"Oh my god!" I yelled out
I reached for my phone that was sitting on my night stand and swiped it to turn my alarm off. Why did I even set my alarm to that?
I remained laying on my stomach adjusting my eyes as I looked out the window. I kissed my teeth throwing the covers over my head.
There was a knock at my door "Trin, I hope you're up." My father came in and walked over to my bed side
I moved the covers from out of my face and saw him buttoning up his white shirt.
"Oh good, you're already up. I need your help."
I sighed and threw the covers off of me sitting up with my feet hanging off of the bed. I looked up at him and yawned obnoxiously. Ten more minutes would've been good.
My fathers eyes grew wide as he put his hands over my face and pushed me back on the bed.
I propped myself on my elbows and watched him as he covered his nose "You could help me with my tie after you brush your teeth." He said quickly walking out of my room
I kissed my teeth and got out of my bed heading straight to the bathroom.
'''
I sighed as I walked up to the schools front entrance. I hate it here already. As soon as I entered the school, the security guards by the front desk greeted me. I forced a smile and nodded walking pass them.
I was about to head up the stairs to my locker, but I stopped dead in my tracks as I saw Mr. Johnson, my math teacher that picks on Michael and I all the time waiting for the elevator. I hate his guts but just this once, I gotta butter him up.
I spun on my heels and cleared my throat walking quickly over to him "Mr. Johnson! Good morning to you."
He looked at me through his thick circular glasses pushing them up as they were hanging on the bridge of his nose.
"Ah, Ms. James never seen you this cheery in the morning. Ever." He continued pressing the elevator button
"Only because I see my favorite intelligent teacher ever." I replied with a toothy grin
He sighed as he continued pressing the button "What do you want Ms. James?"
"Nothing at all sir. What makes you think I want something."

He looked at me with a straight face. Damn, for an old middle aged black man he got so much attitude.
I sighed "Just a ride in the elevator Mr. Johnson, that's all I'm asking." I said looking at him
The elevator door then opened and he motioned his head to go in the elevator. I sighed in relief and basically ran in there. I just didn't have the energy to climb up those steps this early in the morning.
"Thanks, I owe you one." I said as the door closed
Students weren't allowed in the elevator without a pass or teacher.
"To repay me back, I advise you to get some help in math. Maybe a little tutoring." He clicked the 4 button
"What!" I exclaimed
"Christopher could help you, since he's in your little clique with Michael and Kaelyn, correct?"
I stiffled a laugh. Kaelyn Huh?
But then realization hit me "With all do respect Mr. Johnson, I totally disagree."
Just because whatever happened last night when I was coming home from my fathers job happened, that doesn't make me comfortable that Chris would be tutoring me. He obviously wasn't in the right state of mind, and if he was I bet he would've ignored me and let me walk right pass him.
"Your grades are slipping Trinity." The elevator doors opened and he walked out
I followed suit since I have him first period anyways.
"It shouldn't be a problem, Christopher is actually passing my class and you're already friends with him. I'm making it easier for you Mrs. James since I've been observing and you talk to Michael and only hang with that specific clique." He stopped in front of his classroom and started digging through his brief case
I just had the greatest urge to slap his bald head. It was like a target, I couldn't help but stare at my reflection.
"Don't you think Ms. James?"
"Huh, what?" I snapped out of it and saw he was waiting for me to enter the room
I walked in and took my seat right by the window. He took a seat at his desk and began to get settled in.
"Don't you think you have an advantage since you're already comfortable with Mr. Brown's presence?"
"Well, I don't think Chris would be comfortable wasting his time tutoring little ol' me." I hanged my bag on the back of my chair
"I beg to differ. If Christopher does comply, then that eighty-nine percent would raise right to a ninety-one percent."

"He has a eighty-nine in this class?" I asked blown away
could've fooled me.
"You sound surprised?" He said in a questioning tone
I knitted my eyebrows sitting back in my seat "No, not at all."
I watched Mr. Johnson organize his desk for like 2 minutes until I felt my lids begin to grow heavy. A little nap won't hurt. Got like 9 minutes until the bell ring and first period starts. Every minute counts.
'''
Wham!
"X=125!" I shot up wiping the drool that was about to fall all on my shirt
I heard a few chuckles from behind and to the left of me. As my eyes began to adjust to the bright lighting. I saw Mr. Johnson looking at me shaking his head and Chris giving me a blank look. As our eyes met he turned back around in his seat.
"My bad, my books fell." I looked up and saw Kae- Kaelyn excuse me, with a sly smirk plastered on her face
She picked up the books from off of my desk and took her seat behind me.
I got up from my seat enraged "What the fuck is your problem!"
"My problem is you." She said simply folding her arms across her chest
I scoffed "Listen bitch, I don't know what your problem is, whether you have a stick shoved up your-"
"Trinity." Mr.Johnson warned
"No Mr. Johnson!" I yelled looking in his direction "I don't know what your problem is Kaelyn, but if you pull some coonery shit like that again, I'll fuck you up!"
I'll kill her.
She shot up from her seat "Bitch you have no right calling me by my government. Who gonna fuck me up?"
The whole room got silent. It's like the buzzing of teenagers gossiping and talking ceased giving this heathen and I their undivided attention.
I looked at her "Try me." She said "You're nothing Trinity, I'll demolish your little posh ass. You think your shit don't stink because you from Cali or some shit? I'll gladly knock you off of that high ass pedestal of yours without hesitation."
My fist began to itch, itching to deck her in her big mouth. I looked at my fist and began to itch it. I glanced at her real quick and punched her right in the jaw.
"Ohh!" The class roared and everyone from of the left of the room ran over to the right where the both of us were
Kae looked at me peeking through her bangs. She put her hands up to her mouth and whipped it, her hands were covered in blood.
"You fucking bitch." She mumbled
She jumped after me and slapped me in my face. I held my cheek and glared at her.
I charged after her and tackled her as we both flipped over her desk.
"Yo chill out!" I heard Chris yell
No stopping now, I've been waiting ever since I met her to do this.
She got on top and got a good grip on my weave. I yelped and swiftly flipped us over so I was on top, but she still had a handful of my hair in her hands. I balled my hands in a tight fist and began to pound on her face, on my Lilo and Myrtle shit.
"Yo Trinity, cool it!" Michael yelled "Johnson, you not gonna do anything?"
"And risk my life breaking up a girl fight? Yeah right." He simply said walking over to the classroom phone calling for security I assumed.
But that didn't stop me, if anything it made me more aggressive.
I looked down at my MK watch and saw it was 9:02 and simultaneously the late bell went off. I sighed loudly leaning back in my seat whipping my face down roughly.
If only that really did happen.
"You didn't sleep last night?" Michael took his binder out of his empty book bag and went in my bag and grabbed a pen
I looked at him with a straight face and answered "I did, I just didn't want to get up this morning."
"That was unnecessary what she did." He said after a few seconds
I laid my head on his shoulder and nodded agreeing "Yeah, I have no idea what her deal is."
I peered up at him and he was already looking down at me as I was laying comfortably on his shoulder. I felt someone staring at me, but I didn't bother to look.
"Hey Kae." Chris swerved in his seat looking passed us over at Kae but he did a double take with his eyes
I sat up clearing my throat and got up off of Michael sweeping away the invisible eraser thingy's on my desk.
"Yeah?" She answered
His eyes turned into slits "...Come sit by me." He took his bag up that was taking the seat that was next to him
As long as I've been here, no one ever sat in that seat. I folded my arms scrutinizing them both as Kae gathered her things sitting next to him giggling obnoxiously.

It's granted him what is widely considered the most unlucky of inconveniences: becoming host to a powerful but pernicious spirit that will act as his guide and protector--and one day end his life. Sairne is sworn to stand by August's side and, when the fancy strikes her, advise him, all in the service of atoning for a past life she can’t remember having committed a grave enough offense to earn her soul indentureship in the mortal realm. Bound by a celestial contract neither one can negotiate, their fates are all they've ever known. But in a city ruled by religious right and where magic runs deep as bedrock, their search for a missing friend leads them to a dark conspiracy that could transmute the very magic that binds them to their fates, and that might grant them the ultimate choice: do they save the city or save themselves? Cross-posted on Wattpad and Ao3. For fans of fantasy YA story beats if they starred adults instead, 1920s inspired setting, lots of banter, larger cast of characters, somewhat soft magic system. Completed, but being actively edited prior to posting! I'm the only captain on this ship, so mind any errors.
