《Pink and Yellow - Trimberly》Chapter 15

"So... When are you two gonna make it official?"
"I'm sorry?"
"Oh, c'mon. You guys are all over each other."
I took a bite of my donut to avoid the Black Ranger's comment. He noticed this and gave me a playful glare. When I ignored him once again, he excused himself from the table to buy a cup of coffee, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
This unspoken thing between the Yellow Ranger and I confuses me. I question wether or not she wants me as bad as I want her. She has let me in and shared personal information but I can just feel that there's something she's not telling me. I don't want to pressure her or anything but I also want her to be able to tell me these things.
Now that I think about it, I know nothing of her past. Nothing about her father and mother, nothing about who she was. She's a mystery and a lot of things in my life are. But to me, she's the only mystery worth solving.
Zack snapped me out of my thoughts. "Where'd ya go? Thinking about what I asked, huh?" He took a small sip of his drink. "I think you should ask her."
"To? To what exactly?" I asked.
"You're so oblivious sometimes, Kim. Ask her to be your girlfriend." He raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"I don't think that will happen anytime soon."
"You guys are pretty much girlfriends already. You hold hands, stare into each other's eyes, and lastly, but most important, you KISS." The Black Ranger spoke a little too loud.
"Shh, you idiot!" I whispered looking around the small Krispy Kreme.
"What? No one heard. And I bet it wouldn't have been so bad if they did."
"I hate you sometimes."
"I get that a lot. But anyway, I don't know how you two aren't already a couple."
I shrugged. "We don't usually talk about this kind of stuff. She's still a bit closed off , even for me."

"I thought she tells you everything."
"Well, not everything. She has told me a few things though I didn't want to pressure her to tell me more. What ever she's comfortable with."
"See? You're whipped already!" Zack exclaimed. "What ever she's comfortable with." He repeated sarcastically.
"Did you forget that she didn't speak to us the past year? At least she's talking." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Yes, I know that, Kim, and I'm glad that she's communicating..." He thought for a moment. "... But she can't hide secrets from us forever. Didn't Zoroff tell us that we're bound together or something? That we sense each other's emotions?"
"Dude... How long have we been Power Rangers?"
"Almost 2 years now." He said proudly.
"Ok, one, its Zordon. I don't understand how you keep getting that wrong and two, I know what he said but it's still her choice if she wants to open up."
"She might not have a choice to..." The Black Ranger mumbled sadly.
"What does that mean?" I asked worried.
Just then, the door to the shop opened revealing the Latina I've been thinking so much about. She spotted us and smiled then walked over to get a donut.
"Ok, hold up." I looked back towards the Black Ranger. "What did you mean by 'She might not have a choice to'? Do you know something I don't?"
"No, of course not." He sipped is coffee. "I'm just thinking that maybe she does want to open up, but something is holding her back."
"Maybe."
"Did she tell you exactly why she wouldn't speak to us for an entire year?"
"Um, yeah. She said... Well, she said..." I stuttered out. "No... Now that I think about it, she hasn't given me a specific reason. She said she's sorry multiple times but never a reason."
"That's kinda weird."
"What's kinda weird?" The Yellow Ranger sat down beside me on the booth and began eating her dessert.

"Uhh... Um..." Zack stuttered making me roll my eyes.
"There's a book that we're reading for English in class. It's a mystery book and we're trying to figure out the ending. The characters recently got into an argument and they're giving us hints about what happens next. And it's weird." I told her calmly to my surprise. Good job, Kimberly, not completely lying.
"Nice..." Trini spoke. "I'm not into mysteries and that sorta thing."
"Well, look who's talking." Zack blurted out. I kicked him in the shin under the table making him hold in a grunt.
"Ok, what the hell is happening and why are you acting so weird." She furrowed her eyebrows.
"It's really nothing, Trin." I saw her stiffen at the nickname again. Just like at Billy's. "Sorry."
She relaxed. "No, it's fine."
I raised my eyebrows and she nodded to confirm. "Ok..."
"Actually, Trini..." I began.
"Yeah? What's up?" She gave me her undivided attention which made me a bit nervous.
"I want to ask you a question."
"Ok, shoot."
"Just tell me if I'm stepping over the boundaries, ok?"
"Yeah, Kimberly, is everything alright?"
I nodded. "I'm fine. What I wanted to ask you was what happened to you yesterday with Amanda?"
"Oh. My. God. You idiot!"
I sighed. "What, Zack?"
"I thought you were going to ask her to-"
I kicked him again. This time much harder and he couldn't hold in his pain. "Ow! Fuck!"
"Yep. Just shut up." I turned back to Trini. She gave me a look I couldn't understand. "Did I say something wrong?"
"No. I'll answer the question. I won't answer everything. Not now and not all in one day. Neither you or I would be able to take it in."
"You're scaring me, Trini."
"You have three questions about yesterday and that's all. Be specific." She never broke eye contact.
"Oh, um, ok." I swallowed hard. "So... Amanda was talking shit about us-"
"-About you."
"Yeah, got it. And you were responding but then you just went blank. I couldn't get you to say anything to me or look at me. I thought I did something wrong to upset you. So what happened then?"
The Yellow Ranger took a deep breath. "That was just something that I can do." She chose her words carefully. "Amanda was... was a threat and was about to hurt you so I wanted to protect you as much as possible."
"Thanks, Trini, but you don't have to do that. I can take care of myself. I am a Power Ranger." I shrugged and chuckled slightly.
"No, you can't actually. She gets in your head and plants things that shouldn't be there. I don't like when she talks to you."
"Ok... What about you punching her?"
"She said something that set me off. That's all."
"Why would you punch her that hard?"
"I didn't mean to do it." She snapped.
"Do you even remember what she said to you?"
"That was three questions, Hart." The Latina stood up. "I'll see you later."
With that, the Yellow Ranger left the shop leaving me and Zack with his jaw dropped. Why am I so stupid sometimes?
"What, Zack?" I sighed.
"I shoulda got some popcorn or something."
"Not funny."
"Well, no. It's never fun when Crazy Girl is all worked up."
"She said it's something she can do?" I said mostly to myself ignoring the Black Ranger. "What the hell does that mean?"
"What if she's an alien and tries to invade earth?"
"I'm about to slap you."
"Ok, jeez." He raised his hands in surrender. "Pretty protective over your girlfriend..." He mumbled under his breath.
"I fucking heard that."
"Would it be so bad?"
"To what?"
"For you and her to be girlfriends. You act like it's not what you want when it sure as hell the only thing you want."
"Again, now is not the time. She's closed off and I certainly don't wanna ask any more questions for today."
"What ever. Not long 'till you ask her hand in marriage..."
"Dude... Just shut the fuck up."
