Me and Mother watch the snow slowly fall on New Years night, It's relatively warm outside as we wait for father to get home to wish him happy birthday Mom baked a big Chocolate cake its Dads favorite but I like strawberry cake more.. Dad shows up around 11pm and we welcome him home he picks me up and pulls mom in close for a hug as we go to the living room to watch the ball drop in New york city, mom puts on some music and dances with dad in the living room while we wait, I decide to step outside as we live deep in the forest away from any city so we get a grand night sky as clear as ever, only its snowing usually its cold out but its really warm to the point that im sweating. The Forest feels empty not even the owls dwell on this Silence I think about that as I climb up to my Tree-Fort looking for anything interesting as I sit I watch the snow as it falls on the forest that I've lived in for 7 years I climb down only to notice there aren't any stars out tonight and although the air is warm the forest floor is Icey cold it sends a chill down my back as I run home. We watch the ball drop and enjoy the rest of the night but I feel prying eyes on me from The deep of Night, Dad lays me down and tells me theres nothing to worry about He'll check the surroundings before he goes to sleep I trust him because he served 15 years in the military and says "Even knowing theres nothing out there, Sometimes trusting your gut might just save your life." as he leaves the room I watch the Creeping cold crawl up my window before I fall asleep.

I hear a loud bang as a rush of cold air floods the house I hear The front door slam open as I can hear my dads heavy boots enter the house I get up to see whats happening, I open my door to see Father locking the front door holding Grandpa's double barrel he see's me scared and says he just got back from checking out around the house and theres nothing to worry about however he seems a tad bit different like he's hiding something and says Go back to my room which is probably the safest place to be if something were to be wrong our house is a 1 story house with a basement but my room is actually the Attic room the only way to it is a ceiling hatch in the hallway. I could kinda hear mom and dad talk about what dad saw in the woods he said he found 2 grizzly's turned inside out near the backend of our plot of land, he followed tracks to our house but couldn't see where the tracks went after reaching our porch because the Storm outside was extremely heavy cant see anything passed 10 feet due to harsh winds and the heavy snow.
I look out the window but I can't even see the ground but I feel the Cold of Deaths touch in the air, then I hear a very ravenous scream coming from the woods making me go pale as I see the hatch slowly open It's Mom and she's holding dad's smith and wesson and closing the hatch behind her and locking it then crawling over to me saying to close my eyes and not to make a sound. Outside the window we heard loud foot steps making their way around the house the sounds it made were almost human-like but very animalistic the sounds stop over at the far end of the house. The Wind Howling as the front door was reppeatedly hit by the creature I could hear dad shooting his double barrel and loud screams making my head feel fuzzy, the front door finally hit the floor as something really heavy charged straight at dad who was right underneth us the sound of breaking bones and tearing flesh fills the house as does the seeping cold. Mom Quietly hums a dark sad melody as tears fall from her face and loads the revolver, the house goes quiet as the sounds of father being eaten seem to have become just dead air the hatch starts to shake softly as mom whispers me to go to sleep. I feel Cold.

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
