《Legacy of Earth》Chapter 19 – Let’s try this again

Luckily Tsuna managed to survive with little scratches as but Dain was less than pleased and orders him to get some rest while Dain as he left the room to converse with Elesfor. This also prompted Alon to follow after him and help out, mostly as a stand-in for Tsuna as something Alon would have to get used to in case Tsuna were to leave.
"What did he say?" Alon asked Dain who looked upset as he communicated through Dain.
"He still wants our help so I opened a line between him and Memento Mori." Dain sighed as he looked at Alon who was standing by the Doorway into the Mobile Armor. "How's Tsuna?"
Alon was taken aback, Dain had made a rule to constantly refer to one another on their code names when on the field, only calling one another that in Luna Sea.
"Your Freud had just slipped," Alon smiled as Dain's eyes widened in surprise but then burst into a brief laugh. "My bad, it's just I was scared as hell when I heard that Suzaku was shot." Dain smiled back at him.
"It's been a long day after all," Alon shrugged. "As for our close friend he was barely hurt, it seems the Albedo Reflectors did a good job in protecting him."
"Oh yeah I read your report about it," He said showing Alon's immediate report towards it. In it, Alon summarizes what Tsuna had told him what the Hussar is capable of with a high emphasis on the Albedo Reflector and the reliance on Solar Energy.
"I can't say having a Hussar is good news though, given how we don't have the resources to repair and maintain them." He said looking out of the door to see Gabrielle and Marina admiring the Hussar despite the damaged appearance. "I'll need to—"
Their communicators rang, as both of them answered to reveal Memento Mori's voice.
"I had discussed things with Elesfor," Memento Mori said as he sent coordinates to their Mobile Armor. "He'll explain everything you all need to know for our mission, but for now all I can say is that the construction of the Vasi Sakti must be stopped." And with that, he ended the call.
According to Memento Mori, they were to meet up with Elesfor one more time where they would continue to discuss any plans to destroy the Vasi Sakti as the assassination attempt failed. But they would remain in orbit until further notice leaving them to their devices in what to do going forwards.
"I hate it when we get cryptic missions like that," Alon muttered as he remained inside the ReZio as he watched both The Mobile Armor and the Shuttle that Henri was on land while on the ground in the middle of an abandoned airstrip that was thankfully one of the less irradiated and breathable parts of the planet allowing both of them to not only step out without any protection.
Though it did nothing to shrug off this feeling of unease from Alon however.
This feels like a trap, Alon thought as he looked around with a frown. He proceeded to open the cockpit but did his best to show that he was still armed but holding out a sniper rifle, the same rifle that Dain had used in attempting to shoot down the Zhenya, and watched as Dain stepped out of the Mobile Armor with nothing but a handgun but made sure to keep Henri, Tsuna, Gabrielle and Marina in their respective ships.
Not long after a man in a suit stepped out of a building with his hands up in the air.

"Sorry, it took me a while!" He shouted at them as he ran towards them waving his hands.
"Stay where you are!" Alon said, thankfully his voice was masked with a voice changer as he fired a round on his feet causing him to immediately stop.
"That's enough," Dain said aiming his gun at him. "You must be Elesfor Trias correct? I saw you in the conference room earlier with Zhenya Antanov."
"Yes, that would be me." He answered Alon zoomed in a lot closer to find a balding old man with a moustache with light green eyes and appears to be blind in the left eye as in its stead is a cybernetic eye placed on it resembling that of a monocle.
"I'm sorry for forcing you to make an impromptu assassination on him but we need to stop the construction of the Vasi Sakti," Elesfor said, no he was pleading for their help.
"How much do you know about the Vasi Sakti then?" Dain asked as he kept his gun pointed at him.
"Know it? I was the one who developed it." Elesfor said as he pulled something out of his pocket to reveal the datapad that shows the plans. "They wanted me to develop Mobile Station that can harness Solar Energy no matter how far it is from the sun. But I never knew that they would reverse engineer it into a weapon of mass destruction."
"Then if you want help then we'll need funding, your job nearly cost me a man I cannot afford to lose." Dain continued.
"Yes yes, I am willing to lend my entire company to your aid if it means that weapon must be destroyed." He said moving closer to Dain who kept his gun.
"He seems desperate, should we trust him?" Alon whispered to him in a low voice through the communications. "Memento Mori gave me full authority in making sure the mission succeeds, for now, we'll work together with him," Dain answered in a low voice, it was most likely from the time Dain connected him to Memento.
"Fine we'll work with you but we'll need new equipment and medical aid," Dain demanded, after all, they are being hired on a suicide mission to take out a high-value weapon used by the Principality, they'll need some leverage for all this after all.
"We'll provide you with all the weapons and equipment needed even if I have to pay it myself, but can you trust me?" Elesfor said as his face was now covered in sweat whether it was due to tension or to something else entirely, Dain on the other hand holstered his pistol and nodded.
"I'll trust you for now." He said as Elesfor finally relaxed and let out a sigh of relief.
[Legacy of Earth]
From what Alon had learned each of the Major Companies has its form of a Private Military Company that serves as an enforcer and peacekeeper. And Trinity Electronics was no different, it was an old airbase found not far off the Syntis City where the Trinity Security Company would protect the people. And much like the Technology in Venus, most of the Union's Mechs would be purchased from the Sovereign or the Principality and would be modified to fit the T.S.C.s preference.
And so Alon had an impressed look on his face as the Engineers worked on repairing the damages done to the ReZio L.A.M.I.A. and the stolen Hussar while the Medics tended to the others to deal with their wounds.

"We should thank you for your attempts to bomb the other Hussars," Elesfor said walking towards them. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that Elesfor's arms are both mechanical just.
"Who helped train the Mech Pilots?" Alon asked as he watched the other Mechs train and run drills.
"Nobody did, the first wave of Troops went through Gestaltification so it was rough. And since then all pilots have Gestalt Adapters in their spines." He explained, that there was a visible wave of guilt on his face that made Alon wonder how many got hurt in getting their Adapters.
"So it's just like me then," Alon said pointing at the back of his suit to show the adapter. At first, there was a horrified look on Elesfor but then a wave of concern. "Unlike your troops, I got mine as an attempt to handle certain farm equipment. And I doubt what your troops went through the same sanitary method I did."
"Well you're right in that regard, out of Ten recruits only Six would make it out alive due to their bodies rejecting the adapters," Elesfor explained as a squad jogged by running drills. "And due to the entire planet being a health hazard so it was no surprise many recruits would die due to being too unhealthy to adapt to the surgery."
Such is the life of a Ercurian Soldier I guess, Alon thought of the idea of a kid, barely in his teens being forced to join the Military as a means to getting by with a sixty per cent chance of surviving. And well just thinking about it upsets him so he decided to walk off his problems.
"Hey, Naga!" He turned to find an engineer with his lower half being made of cybernetics, waving at him as he and Marina stood in front of the ReZio L.A.M.I.A. "I got a few questions about your unit."
"Sure what's up?" Alon asked while shooting a glance at Tsuna's Hussar which is now fitted with both a Heavy Kinetic Shotgun and a Heavy Beam Sniper Rifle all the while a new head is being fitted into it to prevent it from being seen as an enemy.
They sure work fast, Alon pondered as the Anti-Material Rifle is now being fitted back into the ReZio L.A.M.I.A. again.
"We thought about upgrading the Anti-Material Rifle into a Vulcan Rifle instead and have it built along the L.A.M.I.A.," The Engineer asked showing him the schematics of the Vulcan rifle, it was a transforming weapon mounted under the arm as it came with two forms, one is the Sniper which is the base form and then the Triple Vulcan mode which the Sniper Rifle folds into the three barreled rifles for mid to close range combat.
"Looks good to me," Alon nodded as he approved to have it upgraded. It was good to have a long range weapon at his disposal as the Vulcans are for close range combat while the Gun-Blade only worked as a mid to close range combat weapon instead.
But despite the obvious upgrades they were getting the question of stopping the completion of the Vasi Sakti hung over his head, leaving him wondering whether or not they will succeed or not after all they are a combination of a Terrorist Organization and the Security Firm versus a contingent of the Principality's greatest soldiers.
In a way this made Alon laugh, despite the dour atmosphere he could not help but find it funny that nearly a few days ago he had just gone from fighting against the Sovereign's Best Soldiers under a misunderstanding he had made nearly a year ago by letting Tsuna in.
Well, he didn't blame the man, after all, he just helped him but for the most part, his life in Memento Mori was better compared to the already declining Farm they were managing. Not to mention they can see the stars and see worlds like Mercury and Venus.
Venus huh? Alon thought to himself as he recalled the beautiful fauna of the planet despite the war torn state the planet was on. Maybe if the whole matter with the Istar-Zuhayir versus Istar-Svortza boils over maybe I can convince my family to move there and live a new life and start a farm.
Or maybe even after the war ends. He continued as he made a beeline towards Dain who was talking to the Commander of the T.S.C.s and Elesfor in front of a Star Map located near Earth.
"So what's the plan?" Alon asked looking at the image of half built Space Colony designed to look like a massive reverse umbrella to be able to absorb large amounts of Solar Energy.
"This is the Vasi Sakti," Elesfor explained as he zoomed in near the centre where the solar panels and the very station meet. "Fortunately the Vasi has reached only fifty per cent allowing us time to stage an attack."
"We'll lead an all-out raid to the Station that to stage a distraction while a small unit led by my Dain would make their way in the inside so they can plant bombs in the Solar Furnace," Elesfor said showing the schematics of a Solar Furnace which took on a massive conical machine. "The Solar Furnace is an experimental type and if a sizable amount of explosives are detonated from within then it would be able to unleash a large enough explosion to wipe out the Vasi Sakti."
"Well, there you have it, any questions?"
"Do we have the manpower to handle all of them?"
Alon asked raising his hand causing Elesfor, the Commander and Dain to exchange looks while the other pilots present also nodded in agreement. After all, they comprise a small Shadow organization and Private Army of one of the eight major companies on the planet versus one of the most elite troops within the Principality.
Sure three of the Pilots that are present fought in the Istarian Civil War but there is a clear quantity versus quality issue about what is about to happen. And then there's the possibility that if the mission fails this would put Trinity Electronics in the line of fire and risk their lives even more.
"We don't have to face all of them the important thing is that we need to provide a distraction for me and the others to sneak in and plant the bombs," Elsfor reassured all of them. "In the meantime get ready, all T.S.C. Troops get ready for a meeting with Elesfor and the Commander as well."
We'll we be alright? Alon wondered to himself as he moved on to the ReZio-L.A.M.I.A.
[Legacy of Earth]
Turns out, this was going to be Trinity Electronics' Last stand as before their arrival Elesfor had been slowly and purposely letting go of many of the Staff, with a rather large sum of money to start their own company or to move out of this hellhole of a planet, so they can meet up and join with Memento Mori operating as their main source of technology according to the discussions and dealings with Hayato or Memento Mori in this case.
As a result, the remaining staff and soldiers chose to stay through either loyalty or lack of other options despite the large enough sum of money they will be offering and thus would be properly inducted into Memento Mori.
While it did reassure Alon that the rest aren't forced to stay or join Memento Mori, he could not help but wonder if it was the right choice given their stance against both sides.
"You alright Naga?" Marina asked as they were in the Hangar of the Kusanagi, one of two Carriers that Trinity Electronics owns.
"Just nervous," Alon said looking through his new set of weapons for combat as the two of them are now in the cockpits of their respective Machines.
The Hangar Door Opens to reveal an already raging battle going on as the first Ship, the Sunrise, where Tsuna is leading the main offensive with a handful of Mechs that are currently fighting Principality Mechs and Fighters.
"Ready?" Alon asked finally putting on his helmet.
"Ready," Marina replied.
"Naga, launching!" Alon said as the ReZio-L.A.M.I.A. launched from the catapult deck and into the ongoing battle.
