《The Slayers Of The Seven》XVIII - The Monster In The Fog

[Mansoon’s POV]
“We have no other choice but to ride right through it.” I called out.
“Are you crazy?!” Mallory cried. “You’ll get us all killed!”
I looked at Mallory and rolled my eyes, “You and your stupid wolves got us into this mess. I won’t have my death be a stupid bite that kills me. Let us go through this fog Saaxol.”
Saaxol gaped at me as he looked to the others for confirmation. They had to have known that this is the only way.
“Well… It truly is your choice but if you choose to avoid the fog for a detour… I don’t think you guys will survive.” Elwen said.
Even Elwen agrees with me. We will definitely be going through that fog. Saaxol casted his eyes down,
“Are you sure you’re okay with this Elwen?”
“Well I certainly hope we won’t die. I do trust your capitbilies to get us across the fog.” Elwen replied she flashed Saaxol a smile. Saaxol sighed and jumped back to the front of the carriage.
“Oh man. You all are insane…” Mallory moaned.
I grinned at Mallory. If it was my choice I would throw her out the carriage and leave her to die in the fog. But sadly that wasn’t my choice to make, and it wouldn’t leave a good impression of me to Elwen.
“I don’t see what is wrong with some fog.” Bud flatly said.
“Oh nothing much, it is just if we stay in it for so long we could be lost forever, maybe even lose our sense of self.” I replied.
Elwen sank into her seat, “Maybe this wasn’t a good idea after all Mansoon…”
I shook my head at her, “We have no other choice. If we go back now the cult is waiting for us, and everyone who got bitten by Mallory’s wolves would be dead.”

The carriage suddenly moves full force ahead into the fog. The surrounding light suddenly went void. All I could see outside the windows was only the road that we were riding on. Everything else was a gray smokey haze.
I sat right across from Elwen and held my hand slightly in front of me. If anything were to go wrong I would grab Elwen and teleport out here. She was the only precious cargo in this carriage. The only problem is, I can only go so far… I would have to be sure we were almost out to teleport her and me anywhere.
[Saaxol’s POV]
The fog crawled into my lungs, causing me to wheeze. I could tell it was also affecting the horses as they shook their heads frustrated. I shot my hands onto both of them, a small yellow light escaped my hand. This should hopefully give them some more strength to keep going.
My eyes ventured around me, the fog engulfed everything around me, it was impossible to see anything around me. If this Great Beast truly lives in the fog, then it makes me wonder if it can see through the fog? Or does it blindly wander around? If it could be seen then it would be absolutely horrible for us.
I curl up and start to have a coughing fit, as my lungs lock up I place my hand onto my chest as the feeling of vomit starts to take over. I crawl over to one side of the seat and lay my stomach on the seat iron.
If I vomit I won’t get it on the carriage. My eyes gazed up to see a round glowing yellow orb, it followed my movement as a pupil began to form onto the orb. The pupil dilated, giving a stare into my chilled body.

My throat and eyes went dry, I couldn’t even let out a shriek as the orb unexplainably gained a body, a colossal mantle protruded out as eight cosmically large arms with tentacles that could curl around Constantine’s mansion many times over. Both of my hands reach for the sky as I shout,
“I call upon the ciel to strike!”
A flash from the sky erupted as a lightning bolt launched onto the large monstrosity. The beast launches into the sudden attack as it lets out a bellowing wail. While it was distracted I swung open the door and shouted into the doorway,
“I think the beast found us, if you have any ideas to avoid this thing I’m all ears!”
Bud stuck his head out the door trumpet in hand, and played a short tune directed towards the horses.
“It’ll give them a speed boost for 10 minutes but after those 10 minutes they will fall over from being too tired!” Bud said
“Goddamnit Bud, I sure hope we're outta here in 10 minutes you dumbass!” Mansoon angrily shouted while slamming his hand into the carriage wall.
“I’m sorry I’m helping! I won’t help again!” Bud shot his arms up.
I looked behind us to see a large black figure through the fog nearing its way to the carriage. Hexa jumped out of the carriage and held onto the top of it. She pushed herself on top of the carriage, reached into her bag and pulled out a bottle with an orange liquid labeled, “potassium dichromate”. She uncorked the bottle and poured silver looking dust into the bottle, causing a large flame to appear as she chucks it at the large beast.
As the flames lit up the surrounding area I could see the beast clearly for a split second before it blinded the beast. It was a large squid with white scales protecting its body.
“That should hopefully hold it off!” Hexa shouted. “If not then I have more where that came from!”
I stared at Hexa in amazement, and then fear took over me. Has she been holding things that could explode if they touch this entire time?
I looked ahead of me as my eyes got stunned by the brightness of the sun.
“Oh the divines! We made it!” I cheered.
I look back and see the fog wall slowly back away from us. Suddenly both of the horses collapsed in place making both Hexa and me flying off the carriage. Landing face first into the dirt road.
Mallory jumped out of the carriage and vomited. Elwen patted Mallory’s back and flashed me a thumbs up, “I knew we could make it out!”
Mansoon also walked out of the carriage and looked at the fog wall that was only a few miles away from us and he slipped out a crooked smile.
What could that man be plotting? I asked myself as he studied the fog.

Lacraea: The Slow Journey To riches [HIATUS]
Darren was a successful businessman, founder of the biggest publishing studio AoE studios. He lived a good life that is, until he dies. He's given a choice. either he goes to the traditional heaven, where theres no internet, TV , meat, and sex OR he goes to a fantasy world like the many his company has published. Defeat a big bad boss and become filthy rich. Theres a catch though. unlike fantasy games, the people here are not NPCs to be trifled with mundane quests, the lowest level monsters that are usually cannon fodder in games are strong and fight for their lives like any living being would, The harsh economy of medieval times, the various languages and cultures of different races, and the politics and intrigue playing in the background with a war looming on the horizon. Oh and no respawns. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ No OP characters, No chosen one,and no "oh I did something that MILLIONS of other people just didn't think to do". I am also going to try my best to stick with realism. what a guy transported to medieval times would likely do with zero knowledge of cultures or combat aside from a few TV shows. If you're looking for a powerful chosen one who defeats scores of enemies without even looking, or who finds an ancient artifact to defeat a dark lord this isn't it.
