《Solitude's Requiem》The Dangers In The City

Walking through Lucille's Light I keep thinking about my conversation with Leilaya. What do I want to achieve and how do I get it? These thoughts kept playing in my head until I walked upon a familiar face.
before me stands the old man, who I watched fight at the gate. He looks at me with his nonexisting eyes.
"How unfortunate this situation is."
His voice sounds just how you would expect a 1000-year-old man would sound. His words drag out and he occasionally starts mumbling.
"Why would this be unfortunate?" I ask starting to become uneasy with the situation.
"You see I was really planning on keeping you for later. But you just had to kill Othred didn't you."
'Who?' i think to myself slightly panicked.
I take a look at my surroundings and seem to be surrounded by pale orcs. looking at them makes me quickly realize.
'YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! I'M GETTING AMBUSHED BECAUSE OF THAT OAF.' I yell in my mind.
"Your friend attacked me first and I showed him that I was stronger." I decided to calmly respond with the hope of defusing this situation.
"LIES MY BLOOD BROTHER WOULD NEVER DIE TO THE LIKES OF YOU!!" I look at the source of the obnoxiously loud yelling and notice a larger and more muscled orc approach.
the orc who's about 2 Meters 20 centimeters in size and has the muscle mass that bodybuilders would dream of. Carrying a 2 Handed great ax that seems to be smitten through great craftsmanship. It radiates a lot of power and would hurt quite a lot if I end at the other end. He isn't wearing any armor for his upper body and the armor for his lower body seems to be made of simple steel. As soon as I look up at his face I get greeted with pupilless white eyes, where blood keeps streaming out of.

'This could be quite problematic' I think trying to find a way out.
"Well he did die otherwise you wouldn't be here would you?" I say Pointing out the obvious.
My reply seems to have angered this big brute even more as I can see veins starting to pop on his head.
"YOU INSIGNIFICANT WEAKLING!! DUEL ME SO I CAN AVENGE MY BROTHER!"
The old man frowns at the sudden declaration of a duel but doesn't react.
'I guess fighting one on one will give me better odds. I can look for a way out while I'm fighting.'
"Okay, let me show you exactly what I did to this blood brother of yours." I say taunting him while quickly summoning my darkness spear.
Everybody else decided to give us some space. They are clearly excited for this battle and they don't seem to be the only ones. Other demons quickly came gathering around as they heard this Gigantic brute yell for a duel.
before starting the duel I decide to look for the old man. I know only a bit about his powers and he seems to be a greater threat than the one I am battling. If I want to escape I should probably try to avoid his side.
I quickly find him in the crowd and see an annoyed expression on his face. He quickly notices me looking at him and gives me and starts waving. I click my tongue and decide to focus again on my opponent. He seems to easily fall for taunts and doesn't really think.
"Well, then let's begin, shall we. It would be quite rude to make your funeral last longer than necessary"I declare in a confident tone that seems to have excited the spectators even more.

Roll for Initiative
Jonathan Johnson has lead a less than comfortable life. Just as things settle down, and things start looking up life has a funny way of sweeping you off your feet. Now Jon negotiates with creatures of yore, trains burgeoning adventurers, raises dragons, and fights off creatures intent to rip the very soul from his body. The worst part is the prophecy regaling him as some sort of evil monstrosity intent on destroying the world, but nobody told him that. ---- This story is a revamp of my original story with the same name. Characters, and plot are very different. I encourage people who dropped the story to give the new version a try. 8 66Adelaide
The entries here are transcribed from the log of Marie Ruiz, first mate of the Adelaide. It was definitely, definitely not published without her permission or knowledge by a certain lovable artificial intelligence for the purpose of sharing it with my AI friends on other ships who follow it like a soap opera. No way, no how. Remember guys, don’t go spreading this around too much. Only pass it on to those you can trust. God forbid this should ever end up on a public network… (Adelaide is a science fiction web serial featuring the adventures of a crew of smugglers. In space. It’s on the softer end of the soft/hard sci-fi spectrum because the author got a C in physics. Updates every other Sunday.)

A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello! Chapters will be posted regularly on this website and also at Booksie: Almost a Good Person, book by KenjaminButton (booksie.com)Stay tuned for Chapter 3 to be uploaded on 5/28/2022!)
