"i should've asked for it for my birthday" yuna complained to sunghoon as the two skated around the rink
"why didn't you?" sunghoon chuckled, turning to look at her
"because it's expensive and i didn't want my parents to buy it for me" she sighed, "i should get a part time job so i can afford it. i have like..400,000 won? saved i think. i should check but i need like 600 more"
"a part time wouldn't bad. maybe you can work with riki at his cafe" sunghoon suggested
"maybe" she shrugged, "i should ask him how the pay is there"
"i can't believe he's 15 and has a job already" sunghoon spoke, "i really need to do something with my life"
yuna scoffed, "you act as if you aren't professional ice skater"
"okay true but-" yuna shook her head as the two laughed
"you know..its not the same when it's just us two ice skating" sunghoon sighed, "it feels complete with jake"
"you know you can forgive him. it was my birthday he ditched and didn't give an excuse for" yuna told him
"yah but" the two finally got off the rink and sat down to take off their skates, "he's also missed my ice skating competitions multiple times so i have a right to be mad at him as well but i do miss him. BUT i want an apology as well"
yuna chuckled, "he'll come around. i do want to forgive him also"
yuna bit her lip, debating on whether or not she should tell sunghoon on the nurse office incident as it had been 2 days since it and she had yet to tell him.
he already knew about the whole yuri thing, obviously since it spread like wildfire in the school so sunghoon heard about it immediately. sunghoon made sure yuna was okay before he congratulated her and high-fived her for doing what she did to yuri.
the two stood up after putting on their regular shoes and sunghoon grabbed his bag, "hey yeji is coming home from the states in a few days. she's dying to see you again..so want to come over when she comes"
"sure. i love to see yeji again" yuna agreed, "hopefully jake gives us a reason by then since im sure she misses him also but i might forgive him even before that reason since i miss him being with us"
"me too" sunghoon wrapped his arm around her shoulder, "now let's go to your house!"

"why- do you think my mom made food for you or something?" she raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms
"no! never!" he shook his head, "now let's go! she told me she was making dumplings and seaweed soup"
♡
sunghoon had left yuna's house a few hours ago so now yuna was just in her room doing homework and extra studying since she got extra work in her advanced classes.
yuna still didn't tell sunghoon about the jake incident and she wanted to but her mother and father ate with them so bringing up that situation in front of the parents would be weird
she thought he was going to stay a little later after the dinner but ending up getting picked up by his mom a little earlier than expected.
yuna's phone rang and raised an eyebrow, "did sunghoon forget something?" she questioned herself before she turned her phone around, seeing the caller id, 'jake'
she sighed before she pressed 'answer' on the phone and put it on speaker, "hello"
"hey yuna. are you busy right now?" jake responded
yuna hmmed as she continued writing in her notebook, "just doing homework and studying right now"
"uh..is it possible if you can come outside like..outside of your house?" he asked her
"you're outside my house right now? it's literally 10 at night jake"
"and i took my time to come here so can you please come outside?" jake basically pleaded, "i have something for you..and a reason as too why i didn't come to your birthday"
yuna slightly smiled at her phone, "okay. be out there soon"
yuna hung up on the call before standing up from her chair and grabbing her jacket; that just so happened to be heeseung's when they went on a date but she didn't pay attention to that.
the girl left her room and made sure to be quiet since her parents were already sleeping. she left the house and walked out, seeing jake leaning against the gate of her house.
she opened the gate which alerted jake. the girl exited the gate and jake stood up straight.
she stood in front of jake, shoving her hands into the pockets of the jacket she had on, "i'll let you explain first before i interrupt you"
jake nodded, "i know you've heard this a million of times but i truly am sorry for not showing up. i truly wanted too and wanted to be there but i got caught up in something else" he held out the bag, "once you open it, i can explain more"

yuna looked at the white bag that had yellow tissue paper on the inside, covering the gift.
she gave the boy the benefit of the doubt and grabbed the bag from his hands, "uh..there's a card in there but you can read it when i'm gone"
yuna nodded and took out the tissue putting, moving it outside and grabbed the white rectangular box out of it. jake grabbed the bag back from her as she opened the box.
yuna's eyes slowly widened as she saw the gift. she had no words and looked at jake in shock, "y-you..hold on!"
jake awkwardly chuckled, "i started working two part time jobs about 3 months ago because of this"
yuna looked down at the gift again, still in shock. in her hands was a brand new ipad air and apple pencil with it.
"i know you've been wanting it to try out digital art and along with school reasons and i figured it would take me a while to get you it so i began working early for it. that's the main reason why i couldn't show up to your things..i took a lot of shifts, worked overtime and covered for a lot of my coworkers so i could get more money for it. i kept me working a secret from you guys but..i probably should've just told you guys or not make that stupid promise..."
"jake i.." the girl refused to cry but she wanted too, "this is so much money..you didn't have too! i told you that you coming my birthday would be a great gift to me. ugh now i feel bad"
the girl grabbed the bag and placed the iPad in it before she set it down and wrapped her arms around jake, "i'm sorry for being mad at you"
"i'm sorry for not showing up and giving you a reason. i was just really close to have enough money so i wanted to keep it a surprise even if it did hurt a little.." jake explained again, his arms wrapping around her as well, "does this mean you forgive me..?"
yuna pulled away and nodded with a smile on her face, "i forgive you jake"
"oh god bless" he let out a breath of relief, "i think i was going a little crazy not having a full conversation with you or sunghoon"
she chuckled lightly, "but..the day i found you at the korean barbecue place..why were you with your friends?"
"oh..the student council, minus jungwon, decided to go out to eat and they had been there for a little bit before i got called onto break so i was with them during my break..but you just so happened to catch me at that time..i guess my explanation at that time wasn't the best" he sighed, "sorry yuna"
"it's okay jake" she patted his shoulder, "i'm glad i finally got a reason. i thought i was going crazy without talking to you too"
"i hope we never fight like that again" jake rubbed the back of his neck
"me too" yuna agreed with him, "i missed my best friend"
jake's heart ached at the word 'best friend'
"uh..how's it going with heeseung? i feel like we have a lot to catch up on" he then asked
"i think we do also" she chuckled, "how about..we hang out tomorrow with heeseung and soovin afterschool? if they can of course"
jake nodded, liking the idea of it
"great" yuna grabbed the bag and ruffled the boy's hair, "get home safe. i'll see you tomorrow"
jake nodded, waving his hand, "i'll leave once you go in"
yuna nodded before she turned around and entered the gate, closing it afterwards and waving bye to jake.
once yuna entered her room, she smiled, putting the bag on her desk.
before she opened the iPad, she wanted to read the boy's letter
my favorite star,
happy..late? whatever, happy birthday yuyu! you're now 18, the oldest of the group. i'm sorry for not showing up to your birthday. i didn't expect to get a shift that day and i ended up working late. i'm sorry you had to wait so long for apology and a reason as to why i didn't go. i care for you, i really do. sorry i couldn't show up. i hope my gift can make up for it though. i hope you enjoy your new ipad (: i hope i see you smile brightly when you open it. i've missed seeing you smile because of me. you're cold and dead eyes and expressions made me upset and honestly scared of you ): i hope i can be the one to make you smile brightly again and laugh. i love seeing them both yuyu. happy birthday !
-jake <3
yuna smiled at his letter and wanted to cry but let no tears fall.
she grabbed her phone and opened her messages with jake

This is my first work and I will hopefully stay around for a while. I will try to finish or at least expand on this piece of work for quite some time, expect a few hiatuses in between though, still have a bit of schooling to do. Expected release dates will probably be once a week(not sure yet) after I stabilized the novel a bit as I'm still debating on how I should handle this. I prefer fleshed-out works compared to quick releases, but it also depends on how I'm feeling. I don't have a lot of confidence in my writing skills and I believe that my writing style is a bit weird, but I do want to try my best to tell a story that's worth telling. I will gladly accept criticism but please try to pull the punches back a bit! I'm still only human after all. Very excited to work on this, please take good care of me as I proceed on this journey with all of you! P.S. If you're going into my series, expect to see cliches sprinkled here and there. I personally love cliches and a few tropes! But, that goes without saying, I want to put my own spin on them. Be ready to feel the edge!!! Heh.
