《Welcome to the Pack (Wolf oneshot book)》Male!Tamed!Dog x Wild!Wolf!Reader

You had been born a free wolf. No Pack, no humans, nothing. Your family was free and at peace in this part of the woods, and you loved that. Though, when you were still pretty young, humans moved not too far from your family's territory. There was nothing wrong for the most part; they left you all alone. The only problem: they had a tamed dog, a Collie who clearly like his freedom.
You could see him around your territory sometimes, and that made you a little irritated that he couldn't take a hint. Your family didn't seem to mind him, though. Well, there was one thing you could agree with them on: if he wasn't bothering you guys, then he should've been free to roam through the forest. He clearly knew to keep clear of your territory as well, and made sure to not cross the border that separated you and his... owners.
But, in order to make sure he actually kept to this rule, you decided to stand guard with some of your siblings. So, that's what was happening as of this moment: you were pacing back and forth, standing guard near the border. You decided to go it alone today, figuring your twin brother, (B/N) and younger sister, (S/N), could use the break. 'Heh, what can that tamed dog even do?! He's probably used to the comfort of his... disgusting, dry, dog food and the warmth of those- those... humans!'
You just figured he couldn't hold his own in a battle or even enjoy the comforts of hunting, sleeping out within the forest, or actually be free without his humans being there for him. So, you just thought that if he tried to cross over to your side of the forest, he wouldn't even be able to get fully over without you or one of your family hurting him severely.

But today there was no sign of him, which confused you. Sighing, you just sat next to a nearby tree, taking a break. "Well, if you aren't going to show yourself today, the less work for me. Thanks." You said, as if he was right there, but to nobody in particular. It felt nice to be assured he probably took a hint for once and just stayed away for a day. Little did you know, someone was hiding in the bushes nearby, watching you.
You were just about to stretch and get back to work when you heard a twig snap. You pricked your ears and looked towards the place it came from, and you bared your teeth. "Who's there?!" You barked, not in the mood to play games. There was a few moments of silence before the bushes started to rustle. "I said who's-" before you could say it again, a flash of black and white jumped from the shrubbery. It was the Collie.
"Who are you?!" You questioned, standing up straight and raising your hackles. He just stood there, not saying anything. Either he was thinking if he should talk to you or not, or he was being a major . You waited as patiently as possible for an answer, to which the dog just sat where he stood. "My name is Kodiak. Who are you?" He finally spoke. Honestly, you were wondering if he could even speak or understand you until then.
"That's none of your business. Now, why don't you run along to your stupid humans, and-" he didn't let you finish that sentence, since he barked to stop you. You tilted your head, baring your teeth in case he wanted to attack. But, he still sat there, as if nothing happened just now. "Woah, woah, woah! Hold the phone!" He started, to which you were confused. You've never heard of a phone before.

"Who're you calling ? I owe my humans my life! Had it not been for them, I would've been stuck in that cold, dark shelter I was brought to as a pup. Or... well, why should I tell you? Besides, you asked for my name, and I would at the least like to know what yours is!" He finished with a huff, and he had a slightly angered glint in his brown eyes. Shaking yourself and sitting as well (reluctantly), you decided to answer that. Why not?
"My name is (Y/N). My family and I have lived here as long as I can remember." He perked his floppy ears, almost like he was a little surprised. "Wow! No wonder you're so defensive of your home!" He yapped, to which you just gave a small growl of annoyance before looking back at him. That's when you both heard a distant voice, and Kodiak turned his head in curiosity towards it. "Oh! That's my Master! I better go! Later, (Y/N)!" Was all he said before running off towards his 'Master.'
You stood there, dumbfounded, and just watched. You looked towards something glinting in the sunlight, and slowly walked towards it. It turned out to be Kodiak's collar, having his scent. 'It must have gotten caught on a tree branch, and it must have snagged it off his neck. Either that, or he, for some odd reason, just left it here...' You thought to yourself. So, you just grabbed it and took it with you. Something told you deep down that you would need it later.
This seemed like the start to a new friendship, one your family didn't see coming at all.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
