《Welcome to the Pack (Wolf oneshot book)》Elemental!Wolf x Mortal!Wolf!Reader

All wolves in this world had what was known as Elementals. They were extremely dangerous and have made people cautious of them. Especially the mortal wolves. Those wolves were born without an Elemental, sadly. You were just one of the rare few to be. The Elementals were thought to be dangerous to the Mortals, making them think they would die if they ever came in contact with an Elemental wolf.

Life wasn't all that bad without one; you hardly got picked on by other pups, for starters. And, if anything, you were known as 'special.' Though, it all changed when you became old enough to leave your family Pack. As you explored around, you had found these powerful wolves to be dangerous and life-threatening, so you stayed away all together after that.

Now, you were offered to join some Packs, but it turned out to be nothing but constantly being picked on. Of course, the Alpha wouldn't notice, and would always be confused when you wanted to leave the Pack altogether. Though, nothing the Alpha could say would make you stay with them. You flat-out refused to be apart of an abusive Pack.

One day, you were out searching for prey. Of course, this wasn't hard, since this forest was known to be overrun with different species of prey. All the Packs that lived there wouldn't run out of food any time soon. And that includes you. That's when you found them: a buck elk and it's herd. The buck was at the lead, leading a good amount of deer behind it. There were also some fawns here and there, staying close to their mothers.

You had hit the jackpot! But, all you would need would be a fawn to at least tide you over for a while. You were so distracted with the thought of how you would distract the rest of the herd or lure one of the fawns away, that you hadn't noticed the wolf across from your hiding spot. He was also a loner, on the hunt.

Deep in thought, it was quite shocking when he jumped from his own hiding spot, causing the herd to jump back and start to flee. You snapped your head up at the noises of panic and the snapping of jaws. Somehow, this wolf had managed to catch a fast but young fawn, pinning it down before sinking his fangs into its side. The herd seemed to only want to flee, not caring about the lost member, except for its mother.

She ran up to the wolf, about to ram into his side to get him off of the young deer in his grasp that was slowly dying. Until you jumped forward, quickly pinning it down nearby and tearing into her throat. There was a cry among the faint sound of the fleeing herd nearby, then silence as they had managed to escape and the deer was finally dead. The wolf had watched you the whole time, a little shocked at finding another wolf.

You had forgotten all about him for a minute, until you felt a presence behind you. You looked to see this wolf tilting his head at you, curiosity shown clearly in his eyes. Though, his appearance wasn't normal: he had brown fur with white tufts here and there, but the weird part was he had a diamond-shaped mark on his forehead. It had a small dot within it, and there were a few streaks of white fur around his brows and the sides of his head.

"Who are you?" You both asked at the same time, and you both looked away. Both of you had waited for the other to say something, and when he figured you weren't going to talk, he spoke up. "I'm Scout. I was just out on a hunt. You?" He asked, sitting in front of his fawn. You also sat, sitting in front of the deer. "I'm (Y/N). I was also on a hunt. I figured that deer-" you looked behind you to point your muzzle at it, then turned back around to face Scout. "-was about to tackle you, so I thought you could use some help. Since, ya know, you just stole my prey there."

Scout, of course, now became more confused then anything. His ears flattened and he tilted his head again. "Your... prey? But I swear I saw it first!" He claimed. He seemed upset to be accused about such a thing, and this whole time you thought he didn't have an Elemental. You were proven wrong at seeing small shadows form around his paws, slowly winding their way up his legs and around his torso.

It caused you to stand and back up a little, freaked out. You didn't know if he would use it against you, so of course it made you weary. He noticed your tense body, and within the blink of his eyes, the shadows evaporated into mist. Your ears perked in surprise at that. "Sorry... I just get a little.... defensive." He explained slowly, giving you a awkward, wolf-like smile. You dipped your head to him, but didn't smile.

Everything became quiet again, and it was so tense that you started to shuffle your paws against the ground, clearly uncomfortable. That's when you both perked your ears and lifted your heads at the sound of a howl. "Well, that's my cue to leave. Say, (Y/N)?" He gave you a serious look now. "Can you keep a secret?"

This made you feel taken aback, and you weren't sure what to answer. You just met this wolf, and he barely knew you! How could he know you could be trusted? "Depends. What is it?"

"You can't tell anyone you met me." You tilted your head. "If know, they'll come and destroy my Pack... or, what's left of it. So, with that being said-" another howl was heard, interrupting him. He only shook his head and whispered something on the lines of 'Not now, Cobalt!' before turning back to you. "My name is Scout, and I'm the next in line to lead the Shadow Mist Pack."

Wow. What a secret. Your eyes widened, considering you just met the next Alpha of one of the most powerful and well known Packs out there! Not to mention everyone was wanting to destroy the rest of their kind, since they were seen as dangerous and capable of destroying the rest of the Elements. Nonetheless, you nodded slowly, trying to take everything in.

"Good. I'll see you later... just, stay safe, alright?" With this, he ran off, another howl ringing out into the forest. And with that, you were alone again, confused as ever and trying to think about everything all at once. Though, you just grabbed your deer and started to walk away.

This was the start of an alliance between two species. And it only proved there was no need to frightened anymore for long.
