《Freshman》2. Walking home

Jisung was still looking at Minho, himself staring at the new boy. Jisung felt shy, and started blushing. He put his hands on his cheeks and looked down quickly.

-He's in third year. Chan said, frowning at the two boys.

When Jisung looked up, Minho was smiling, hiding a smirk.

The boys started talking about what class they had, including Jisung in the conversation. When he walked out of the cafeteria to go to his first actual class, he thought he was glad he had met them, they were nice to him.

Jisung was coming out of his last period. He walked out of uni, knowing Chan finished later. His first day went pretty well, he met people and the courses were quite interesting.

-Hey Jisung.

He turned his head.

-Oh Minho...

The oldest was lightly smiling and started walking next to him.

-So what you do think about university?

-Well... It's nice. I feel more free than in high school. And I can choose my subjects.

Minho nodded.

-Yeah. It's quite nice. You're more independent but you've got to find you rythm, between going out and working. Teachers aren't behind you, pushing you to work.

-I see. What are you studying actually?

-Mathematics. I like it. I like solving things and the logic of it.

Jisung nodded.

-And why do you like university so much?

-People are more open minded I think. You can truly be who you are.

Jisung looked at him for a second. Did he know anything? Jisung had kept something for himself for a while now, something that wouldn't be so welcomed in his high school. He was thankful for what Minho just said.

-Oh, do you feel more free then?

-Yes, I'm more accepted and I can trust my friends with anything. Minho said, not looking up.

Jisung was wondering what Minho was talking about. It was probably personal.

-You seem like you were the popular kid though.

Minho chuckled.

-Oh really? It was not the case, I can tell you that.

Jisung felt even more curious about the boy's old situation.

-What happened?

Minho sighed.

-Well... I got beaten up, multiple times, for loving someone.

Jisung stopped in shock.

-WHAT? How dare they? But why?

The oldest smiled at Jisung.

-You're cute. Hey it's fine, it's over now. Anyway, do people need reasons to hate on others? Difference is all they need. Wrong love, wrong person, they say.

Jisung had still a hard time believing someone hurt Minho for loving someone else.

-What was wrong with this person?

Minho kept looking forward, as he started walking again.

-He was a boy.
