《Freshman》3. Croquembouche

Jisung was lying on his bed.
After Minho had said those words, Jisung didn't know what to say so he had stayed silent. They kept walking side by side until their paths split. Jisung had waved at Minho as this one entered his building.
So Minho was gay. He didn't know how he felt about it. Happy? Relieved? He knew he could tell him he was too, maybe. He had never told anyone, fearing the worst reactions.
He was not sure his parents were homophobic but he was not ready to find out.
He fell asleep thinking about Minho.
The next day, Jisung was sitting with Chan and his friends in the cafeteria. Minho left first and Jisung quickly followed.
-Hey Minho!
The latter turned around.
-Jisung... What's up?
-Hmm, I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I didn't stay silent because I'm not okay with... hum you liking a boy, I just didn't know how to respond with the right words.
-It's fine Jisung. I could tell. I saw a lot of disgusted faces looking at me, and yours wasn't like that. You were... surprised I guess.
Jisung nodded.
-Yes. Well not a lot of people are open about it. And even less to say it to someone they just met.
Minho looked at him while smiling.
-I felt like you were nice.
-Oh, well thanks. He mumbled.
-So do you wanna hang out after school? Minho said, energetic.
Jisung looked at him in surprise.
-Yeah! That'd be great!
-Nice, let's meet at the gates at four, as we both finish at the same time.
-Sure, see you then!
Jisung walked to his class, happy. He liked Minho's honesty and enthusiasm.
Jisung was looking at the clock. 3:50. It felt like the longest hour ever. He didn't pay much attention to the class. He was only thinking about seeing Minho. Hoping they could be friends. Real friends. Jisung wasn't very popular in high school and didn't really have any friends. College could be a chance for him to change that. Minho could be.

When students started standing up and walking out of the class, Jisung snapped out of it, took his stuff and quickly left the room. In a few minutes, he was by the gates.
He stood there and waited for Minho who didn't take long to join him.
He smiled at the sight of him, smile that got returned.
-Hey. So do you wanna do anything in particular?
Jisung shook his head.
-Nope, just hanging around and chatting is great.
-Sounds good.
The two boys started walking side by side.
-So, what about the question game? We ask a question each to get to know each other? Said Minho.
-Hmm alright. Go ahead.
Minho seemed to think for a minute before asking a first question.
-What's your favorite food?
-Pizza. For sure. And mexican food.
Minho grinned.
-You're pretty basic.
Jisung looked at him, offended.
-Oh really? And what's yours, your Highness? Caviar? French cuisine? Tell me.
Minho hid his smile, trying to look serious as he said with a distinguished voice :
-I enjoy Croquembouche.
-What?
Jisung looked sincerely confused.
Minho laughed before responding.
-It's a French disert. A pastrie. But I'm joking. It just sounds fancy, I never even tried it. I like gimbap the best.
The younger shook his head.
-You're playing with me.
-Sorry I didn't mean to be rude. It was just so funny to see the reaction on your face.
Jisung didn't say anything back.
-If this can make you laugh at me, I believed until I was eight that noodles were a vegetable.
The blonde boy cracked in laughter.
-Oh my god. How... Oh my...
He was bended, his hands on his belly. He couldn't stop laughing.
-If you don't stop, I'm gonna feel offended.
Jisung slowly stood up.
-Wow, you're amazing.
Minho faked an upset face, as they started walking again. Jisung smiled at him.
-Want to go to a bakery? I'm starving for something sweet.
-Okay, let's go!

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 177Saga of the Storm Wizard
Rose Cooper had always been told she has a lot of potential as a wizard cadet. Too much, in fact; her weather magic frequently ran wild when her emotions got the better of her. That was why the mission to uncover a lost magical artifact in the Spratly Islands was perfect for her. They were no man's land, abandoned by both the demonic Grim Horde and the human Anti-Demonic League. All Rose would have to do to do was keep the weather under control. All of that talk of the Spratly Curse was just superstition and nonsense spread by bored sailors. If only. Evil wore many masks, as Rose was about to discover. Warning: This story contains elements that some readers may find disturbing, and minor language. Think of it as a PG-13 rating. This series is a spinoff of the Confessions of the Magpie Wizard series. As such, it contains spoilers for the main series. I have attempted to write it so that you could start here without reading the original story.
