《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》Misconduct

Link and Zelda approached Emery and Prince Sidon. Link did so reluctantly and unhappily. He didn't want to see them talking. He stayed behind Zelda, trying not to sneak even a peak in their direction. He couldn't believe this was the way he was acting about the situation. Jealousy was pretty much immature, but he couldn't help it.
He just couldn't stop thinking about what Zelda said. Too? What did she mean too? There was no way someone like Emery could possibly have feelings for him. Like he had thought about earlier, there was no wonder why he didn't have friends. He wasn't fun anymore. He was just boring Link, who was the all-serious, no-fun hero. He may have saved Hyrule and that may have gotten him there, but he wanted friends. He just felt like he couldn't let his father down by messing up his role. He would be so proud of him, and then to have Link go and mess it all up would be terrible. He was the hero, the chosen hero. It was important that he acted like it, and that's just what he'd do.
"Emery, I hate to tear you away from Prince Sidon here, but I say we must be on our way. The night brings not such good things. Heading back now would be in our best options." Zelda gave her a small smile. She nodded back to her.
"Of course, princess." Emery said through a bright smile that only Sidon had caused. It made Link's heart ache. He wanted to be the one to make her smile like that. Instead, it was that stupid prince. Maybe she just had an interest in princes. He couldn't make a move on her, there was no way. He'd just embarrass himself and possibly ruin everything that his father wanted for him. He couldn't do that. No matter how bad he just wanted to grab her and kiss her. Especially in front of Sidon, so he'd just back off...
"There's no way I can keep her here with me?" Prince Sidon asked flirtatiously with his flashy grin. Emery chuckled gracefully. Before Zelda could reply, Link jumped in.
"No, there isn't. Now, could you stop goofing around so we can get back, Emery?" Link spat, turning and walking for the bridge, exiting the Zora Domain. They were all stunned at his sudden outburst. Zelda had known him for so long, and she'd never seen him act this way. He was letting his jealousy get the best of him and it wasn't good. The results would end in someone's feelings getting hurt, if not already.
"Forgive him, he's in a mood." Zelda frowned at the two. Emery's heart beat fast. She was genuinely scared of Link, and that was a first. He was normally so soft and gentle, that was a side she'd never seen after spending months upon months by his side. He was normally sweet, and she couldn't figure out what brought out this side of him. Either way, what he said hurt. She felt that just because she didn't shut her mouth at every second like he did made him better than her. She wasn't goofing around, she was just talking to Prince Sidon. Was she not allowed to talk anymore? He wasn't allowed to decide for her. Her hurt typically turned to anger, and now she was unbelievably mad at him. She said goodbye to Prince Sidon, then walked to where their horses awaited them. "I'm so sorry you had to experience that."

"It's okay," Emery replied. "maybe he's right."
"He most definitely isn't!" Zelda exclaimed, wondering why she was letting such comments get to her.
"Well, he's right. I don't look like you guys, I don't act like a real hero or a real Champion." Emery shrugged. Zelda stopped her, taking her hand in hers.
"Never for a second think any of that is true. Link is upset and he unreasonably took it out on you. You mustn't listen to him. I know how you feel about yourself, that you're a failure and that you're unloveable. You're none of that, Emery. You're a strong woman who is very intelligent. Like I said before, we all fail at times- but that doesn't make us a failure. It makes us Hylian. I don't want you to feel like you don't belong with us, because you do. Without you, we wouldn't have succeeded. You are just as important as Link and I. Whether you choose to think that or not is up to you, but I assure you it's more than true. You don't think I'd lie to you?" She spoke with passion. Emery could tell Zelda really meant her words. It almost made her want to cry that someone had said such meaningful words to her. This was why she wanted desperately to like Zelda, but she was just so jealous of her.
"Thank you." Emery managed out quietly. Zelda gave her a bright smile, pulling her along confidently as they got back to their horses, her chin up. Link had heard Zelda's whole spill and was forced to act like he knew nothing. He had so many questions that he had so much time to think about on the way back.
How did Zelda know so much about Emery, only meeting her a day ago? It was more than even Link knew, and that just goes to show him that he wasn't as close to her as he thought. He had a long way to go with that. The thing that bothered him most was the guilt. He had absolutely no idea Emery thought those things about herself. How could she possibly think she was a failure? She rarely- and rarely- misses a shot. She was an incredible archer. The way her precision was with her arrows was beyond words. How could she possibly think she was a failure? He just wanted to talk to her so he could figure this all out. He wanted to help her, and most of all he wanted to show her that she was none of that.
He couldn't fathom it. How could she think she was unloveable? The word didn't even fit with her. If you knew Emery, you knew she had a heart of gold. She wished nothing more but to help, and she'd spend every waking moment doing that. Even if it meant putting herself in harms way for the greater good. Link learned that the hard way, and even if he was mean about it, he still appreciated it. Another thing was her unconditional beauty. That went without words, too. It hurt him to think about her suffering from these thoughts about herself. To spend every waking day hating herself, especially when he loved her with all his being. Most of all, it hurt him to know he was sometimes the cause of these feelings.
They arrived at the house after a long, quiet, uncomfortable ride. It was as smooth as a ride got. They were all three exhausted when they got back that night, which didn't make for a good mix. Link had gotten another bed for Zelda to sleep in, seeing as the castle was in no condition to be inhabiting right now. Hopefully they'd find a way to fix that. For the time being, she'd be living with them seeing as there was no way she could be left alone without a band of royal guards. As of now, there were none. Some how, they were going to have to fix all this. There was no way of knowing how yet, but they had no doubts they'd figure it all out eventually.

Zelda collapsed onto her bed, knowing what was to come. Everything was going to get crazy. With both of their rage being bottled up, it was bound to break lose sometime.
She watched quietly and expectantly as Link walked upstairs. For the time being, they parted ways. Emery changed into her pajamas, which were rather... Well- revealing. Her tank top showed off her cleavage and her shorts showed off her curvy hips and butt. It wasn't intended to be that way, it was obvious they were a set of extremely comfortable pajamas. Emery took a seat on the couch, crossing her legs. She opened her book to see the pages ruined with food stains. She narrowed her eyes, standing up quickly. "So, you ruined my book?"
"What?" Link replied once he realized she was talking to him.
"The pages in the book I let you borrow have food all over them, and they're ruined! It's obvious you were the one who did it!" She tossed the book down on the table as he walked down the stairs to face her.
"It's just a book." He replied irritatedly.
"Yeah, it's my book. You should respect people better." It was obvious she was talking about more than just the book. She crossed her arms over her chest, making his eyes wander down. "My eyes are up here, you know!"
"Sorry." He muttered, his face turning bright red. Neither of them could tell if it was from embarrassment or anger. Possibly both.
"You should be." She narrowed her eyes at him, giving that classic icy stare.
"I don't know why you're so mad at me-"
"Well, first you leave to fight Ganon without me, then you ruin my book, and then you're rude to me all day! It doesn't get much worse than that, Link!" She raised her voice, but he didn't falter.
"What about all the times you're rude to me? You've never apologized once! Maybe you're just getting what you deserve." He replied, equally as cold.
She didn't even know what to say to that. She cleared her throat quickly. "At least I don't brag about being better than someone else. At least I don't knowingly hurt someone else's feelings."
His mouth fell open as she pushed past him, almost knocking him down. She left the house, slamming the door after her. He let out a sigh, then realized Zelda had been watching the whole time. He could feel her disapproval.
"I don't know what to do." He sighed.
"You really hurt her, Link." Zelda replied, watching as he sat down, putting his head between his knees.
"I didn't mean to, I was just so mad... I took my anger with Prince Sidon out on her. I was just so angry..." He repeated.
"You have to go after her. She didn't take any weapons, you know. She's too heated and distracted. There's great danger out there, and I feel she's going to walk right into some of it." She said. Link jumped up, realizing she was completely right. He rushed upstairs, grabbing the Master Sword. He gave her a look. "I'll be okay here on my own, go before something terrible happens to her!"
Emery walked along the dark path. She could hardly see, and she was so angry. Her clothing was scarce, but the cold helped her cool off. She was beyond heated. How could he be so cruel? She could deal with him when he was upset, but he knowingly took it too far all day. He couldn't've said more hurtful things. He knew how she felt about being a Champion and a hero. Yet, he said such things to make her feel terrible about herself. Did he even like her at all? Weren't they meant to get along because of the shared Triforce? She just didn't understand how he could say such things...
She was so trapped in her own thoughts that she hadn't paid a bit of attention to her surroundings. That made her not hear the noises around her. All at once, the Yiga Clan jumped out, surrounding her. It was in that moment that she realized how incredibly stupid she'd been. Of course they were still after her at every second, she took out their leader and Calamity Ganon. They wanted her head on a spear, and they were going to stop at nothing to get it. Her heart fell as she knew there was no way out of it this time. They had many big, shiny weapons that were very sharp. There was no way she could fight them. What was she meant to do now?
She braced herself for their attacks, but when they didn't come, she opened her eyes that were screwed tightly shut. She looked to see Link, desperately fighting them off. Couple by couple, he took the four down. Why had he come for her rescue when he was so awful to her? She thought he hadn't cared at all.
Once they were gone, he let out a large breath. He turned around to see her holding her cut arm. He grabbed her forearm, taking a look at it. His big, worried eyes met hers. "Are you okay?"
"What do you care?" She let out a shaky sigh. She began to walk back to the house, even though she didn't want to return. He rushed to catch up with her. She just wished he'd go away.
"Emery, I'm sorry." He sighed. She didn't say anything, she just continued walking. She still held her cut and bruised arm. When she didn't reply, he stopped her, holding onto her tightly.
"Let go of me." She tried to pull out of his grip.
"Please just let me talk." He begged her desperately.
"I don't want to hear you talk, I've had enough of what you've had to say." She spoke sadly, frowning. She pulled away from him and walked off in the direction of home. He let out a small sigh and followed her as she lead the way. He'd messed up big this time, and he didn't see them every coming back from it. At least, not any time soon.

The 8th Day
One day life is good. The next day it isn't! The boundaries between... well, whatever they're between.. have shattered! Monsters burst out from cracks in the universe, and reality suddenly begins to function similar to a game -- but not a game that anyone knows all the rules about! Magic is suddenly real, but so are monsters and death! Lots of death! And the worst part of it all? I think we did it to ourselves! We invented video games, and personally I think that great Finger-in-the-Sky picked up a console somewhere and started playing them. Since He liked what he saw, he must've declared, """"On the 8th Day, let there be Game!"But what do I know about it all, really. After all, I'm just """"The Witness"""" forced to observe it all.__________________________________________________________________________Author's Note: There's a lot of tales where characters get stuck in a Virtual Reality. """"Sword Art Online"""", """"Log Horizon"""", """"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"""". This is a story told with the premise inverted -- instead of a person from reality going into a virtual world, what would happen if the virtual world instead came to reality?I want this tale to speak about the aspects of the game, as it has affected the current reality, but the focus of the story should never be on the """"reality-turned-game"""" itself, but on the characters and their oh-so-human struggles, personalities, and attempt to adjust and live within the bounds of their new existence. Hopefully this won't just be a story of """"reality turned into a game"""", but instead will be something more meaningful such as a story of the strengths, perseverance, and humanity of man-kind as they try to adapt and face the unknown.*** And, most importantly, I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. ***WARNING: RATED MATURE M[18+] FOR GORE, SEX, VIOLENCE. The apocalypse isn't a pretty place to try to survive in, and neither is every scene in a story trying to describe it.
