《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》The Master Sword

The Koroks danced around the lovely forest. There were even a couple of fairies. Still, both of their eyes laid upon the beautiful Master Sword.
There was no bond like it. Link and his sword had quite a special one. It looked familiar to him, but it was still blurry. He walked up to it, and Emery stood back to watch. This wasn't her place. As he stepped up to it, he placed his hands on it. To her surprise he quickly jumped back.
"Link..." She spoke his name with concern. He turned towards her, his lips in a flat line.
"Zelda spoke to me. I remember more now. She said I was our final hope..."
"Who's there?" They finally heard a loud, booming voice. Yet, it was old and gentle. Link turned towards the Great Deku Tree that spoke gladly to him. "It's you. You've finally decided to return and claim your sword. It's been a hundred years, I was nearly giving up hope on seeing you again."
Link was quiet, as was Emery as they both listened intently.
"Even my patience wears thin, you know? Although, that look on your face tells me you have no recollection of me. I have watched over Hyrule since time immemorial. Many have referred to me over the ages as the Great Deku Tree." He spoke gently. Link glanced to the Master Sword once again.
"That is the weapon created by the ancient Goddess'. The sword that seals the darkness- that only the chosen knight can wield against the Calamity Ganon. Believe it or not, it was actually you who held that sword one hundred years ago. But I must warn you to take extreme caution. The sword stands as a test to anyone who would dare attempt to possess it. As you are now, I cannot say whether you are worthy or not. If you sought to pull the sword in any sort of weakened state, you would surely lose your life where you stand now." He laughed boldly. "Best of luck, young one."
Link actually seems to be frightened as he looked down once again at the intimidating sword.
"If you hope to pull the sword from it's resting place, you must use your true strength. Let us see whether or not you currently possess said power." The Great Deku Tree insisted.
Link stepped up to the sword, and Emery would admit that she was scared for him. Did he possess the power? He'd never said anything to her about it, but would he? She knew she'd been cold enough to him at times where it was sure he wouldn't feel comfortable sharing this kind of information with her. How would he even have any recollection for it? She feared the worst for him, but she had to believe in him. She prayed to Goddess Hylia that he was ready to pull the sword.

He placed his hands tightly on the handle of the sword. He inhaled largely, then began to pull. She watched closely as he did. He let out many huffs and grunts. It was a slow process. It let up bit by bit, and she was beginning to see him falter. She stared at him with frightened eyes. He had to pull that sword...
He let out a loud grunt, showing signs of pain. "Link!" She exclaimed, but stopped dead in her tracks when he released it from the pedestal. He pulled it up, extending it out in front of him. It shined brightly as he did. He held it up directly, bowing his head to it for a second. Then, he pointed it skyward, just as the legends said. He twisted it quickly and precisely, then placed it on his back.
"What you just saw happened before you one hundred years ago." The Deku Tree spoke once more. She wondered what he'd saw. If she asked, would she be intruding too much? "After you were separated from the sword, the princess thought to bring it here where she knew it would be safe under my watch. She continues to fight, trapped deep within the confines of Hyrule Castle. Her heart cascades with faith that you will return. She has a smile like the sun... I would do much to feel it's warmth upon me once again."
Link nodded strongly towards him, silently showing his profession about the situation at hand. He turned around, and approached Emery gladly. He insisted: "We must save her."
"I know.." Emery mumbled quietly. She began to walk out the forest, and Link hurried after her.
"I sense that you're feeling-"
"Don't worry about it. I mean, who wouldn't be jealous of such a beautiful sword?" She replied, a lie escaping her lips. She wished she wasn't so jealous of him and Zelda. They were so much more, and she was nothing. She didn't have an important role like them, and no one knew her name. There was nothing in the legends about another hero, so she wondered what this stupid Triforce was doing, residing amongst her hand.
"Is that truly what your jealous of?" He asked, a little bit of hope that maybe she was upset over something else. Such as Zelda's love for him. Given, he wouldn't want her to be jealous of Zelda as she had no reason to be. He just wanted a sign that maybe she had feelings for him, too.
"Of course, what else is there to be jealous of?" She spoke with a playful smile, a lie still flowing from her lips.

"Right." He nodded slightly. He grabbed her hand suddenly, running out of the forest. She was trying hard to keep up.
"Link!" She laughed. "Slow down!"
"I want to use the Master Sword!" He insisted, exhilaration lacing his voice. She giggled as she followed him. Their hands were unnoticeably glowing together. It was such a bright and beautiful day out, they would never take notice. They bursted out of the forest, hearing Epona's pleasant neigh to finally see them. She laughed as they crashed into each other, falling on the ground. She grinned up at him as he hovered over her. The warmth of the sun shined down on her face.
All he could think as he looked at her was that she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. If she was jealous of Zelda- even though she's not, but he liked to have a little hope- she had no reason to be. Zelda may be a reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia, but it was Emery who looked like a Goddess to him. He wished she was more respected than she was. Still, even before all this started she wasn't known by her name. Now people are calling her Lady Emery, just as they use to call the princess Lady Zelda.
He found himself leaning down slowly, where his face would meet hers. He caught himself, though, and rolled over onto the ground. She wondered what she was to him. Just there to move on when he wanted? And then pull away after getting her hopes up when he realized she wasn't what he wanted? When he remembered he wanted Princess Zelda, despite hardly having memory of her? Even saying that, she didn't know what his memory was like. He hadn't shared recently, and she wondered what he remembered about Zelda, of all people. "It's beautiful out here, isn't it?"
"Yeah," He replied, breathlessly. He looked over at her as she stared up at the sky. She was so beautiful, he couldn't fathom how it was possible to be as perfect as her. He wanted to kiss her desperately, but he wouldn't make a move on her not knowing what she wanted, and possibly ruining their friendship. Though, weren't they bound by default due to sharing the Triforce?
"So, what did you remember?" She asked, looking over and to her surprise, he was already looking. "Back in the forest, about Zelda, I mean."
"Well," He began, chuckling at her. "I remembered the sword. The sword chose me. Despite what everyone else thought. I was only seventeen, I couldn't believe I was the chosen hero. I was freshly out of knight school which was by no means as important to me as it should've been. Then, the sword responded to me. I was named the hero who was meant to seal the darkness. With the sword that seals the darkness. And, I was set to be Zelda's appointed knight."
"Right..." She mumbled. "What about what the Deku Tree said you saw?"
"That?" He asked, wondering if she really wanted to know. She nodded. "I saw Zelda speaking to the Deku Tree just before she placed the sword in it's resting place. She still speaks to the sword, you know? Not me, I haven't heard it's voice yet."
"Then how did you know it chose you?" She asked.
"It responded to me. There's a difference, but I wouldn't expect you to know what I mean." He said, unknowingly upsetting her. He didn't mean to come off the way he did, but he did. She pushed herself up off the ground and greeted Epona. Link wondered why she got up so suddenly, but he still paid no attention to how upsetting his words had been. He stood up also, dusting his precious tunic off.
"What a good girl you are for waiting out here all night!" Emery grinned at his horse, petting her gracefully. Epona licked her face in one big go. Emery frowned slightly, then took the cloth Link had given to her to wipe her face. Even if it still had blood on it. It was her own, after all.
"Where should we go now?" Link asked her. She looked over at him, an icy look he still didn't realize how he'd earned.
"You said we must save the princess immediately, right?" She asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Well, not immediately-" He stopped when he noticed she wasn't paying attention. "Why are you upset with me?"
She was astounded that he even had to ask himself that. Even if it was unintentional for him to hurt her feelings, he should still pay closer attention to his words. "I don't know." She replied sarcastically.
He chewed his lip nervously as she climbed onto Epona, and sat there. She waited for him to get on with her arms crossed over her chest. He let out a small sigh, and tried to figure out what he could've said to upset her. He was still unaware, and Emery knew when it came to boys, they knew nothing about girls.
