《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》Courage

Link made it to Kakariko Village, where he carried Emery in his arms. He rushed through quickly, bumping into anyone and everyone. He didn't even apologize, they had to get out of his way. He had much more urgent things on his mind. He busted through the doors to where Impa sat, frightening Impa and Paya. The situation was instantly obvious to Impa.
"Paya," Spoke her frail voice. "show Master Link where he can find the royal nurse."
Paya nodded quickly, staring at him with fear. He glanced down at Emery as her hand fell lightly upon his chest. She was responding to him now, that had to mean she was better than before, right? He followed Paya into a part of the town he'd never even noticed before. Maybe that was even the point.
He placed Emery down on the table before the woman. She began working quickly. She pulled Emery's armor off so she could work easily. He felt ashamed seeing her this exposed, but again- it wasn't his main concern. The woman finished sewing up her wound and used the best of her healing creams and essences. Still, Emery looked terrible. Her face was unbelievably pale, her breathing was still ragged and small. "I've done all I can, Master Link."
He nodded to her, silently thanking her for her services. She moved Emery to a small room with a bed and a couple of chairs. It was private so she could recover. He pulled a chair up to side of the bed. She laid there, a woven blanket being her only cover. She was even colder than usual, he discovered this when he placed his warm hand on her arm. It seemed to help a bit, as her breathing smoothed out. He knew he had to stay with her now. The fact that there was a blood moon tonight didn't help his worries any less. He was exhausted, but he'd be losing sleep over her condition anyways. He'd be better off staying by her side. That was the only place he wanted to be, anyways.

He stayed by her side for days, and she still wasn't any better. She was alive, that was true, but there wasn't looking to be any hope for her. The nurse didn't expect her to make it, but Link had to. He couldn't stand the thought of her not being alive.
One late night, he was deep in his thoughts. He was remembering all the things he'd said to her that last day. He was so cruel, and he knew now this was the Goddess' way of showing him he'd taken her for granted. There was nothing for him to do now, and he couldn't help but blame himself. He couldn't save Zelda, the Champions, Hyrule, and now Emery. Why was he truly beginning to fail everyone he'd ever cared about? Why Emery? She of all people didn't deserve this. She was strong, he just knew she would pull through. She had to...
He let out a sigh as he buried his head in the sheets laid on her stomach. He found her hand, lacing his fingers with hers. "Please, get through this..."
As he laid there, he didn't notice how their hands glowed together. How their two halves of the Triforce of courage finally appeared on their hands. If they were together, it would always be whole and alive. Now, Zelda's suspicions about the misread words from their ancestors were confirmed.
Link sat up quickly as he felt her shift beneath him. He pulled his hand away from hers before seeing the glow. He looked at her as her eyes began to flutter open. She looked around for a minute before her eyes met Link's worried ones. "What's the matter with you?"
"Y-you're okay?" He questioned. She sat up, which Link quickly helped her with. He put a supporting hand on her back. She glanced around, then saw her stitched up leg. Link noticed it was now healed over and looked much healthier. To the point where the stitches could be taken out. She was no where near that point a second ago... "How have you healed so... quickly?"

"What are you talking about?" She asked, not yet recalling her fall. She was still foggy. Link called the nurse in and had her remove the stitches. A clean, but horrible scar remained on her leg now.
"Do you remember what happened before you were hit? We were fighting Windblight Ganon, and-" He stopped talking as her mouth fell slightly agape.
"Did you take back Medoh?" She asked instantly, with no regard to herself. That was courage.
"I did." He nodded. "But, what happened in the fight? How did you fall?"
She was silent for a while, debating on whether she should tell him or not. "I was protecting you."
"How?" He asked, his heart aching, realizing this was his fault. She had literally died because of him, and he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. Even if she had made a tremendous recovery.
"The creature teleported, and he was coming straight at you, so I blocked-" She stopped as he motioned for her to say no more. He looked as if he'd be sick. "W-what's wrong?"
"How could you be so careless?" He asked, standing from his chair.
"What are you talking about, I was protecting you, Link! That was in the least bit careless on my part, don't you think?" She was instantly upset. He knew he shouldn't overwhelm her this much when she first awoke, but he couldn't help it. He couldn't believe she was so incredibly stupid.
"Yes, but with no regards to yourself, Emery." He sighed, running his hand through his too-long hair. Why was he being this way towards her?
"Link, this fight wouldn't go on without you. Of course I was putting everyone else before me." She sighed. Why couldn't he understand where she was coming from?
"It can't go on without you, either! You shouldn't willingly put yourself in danger. I just don't understand why you'd do something like that." He shook his head at her.
"Because you're the hero, Link. Not me. You're the one who wields the sword that seals the darkness." She replied. "Without you, theres no way we can save Hyrule. I knew blocking that shot and saving you was the right thing, and I won't apologize."
He knew she wasn't lying, she wouldn't apologize. She would believe what she would believe, and he couldn't stop her. That didn't mean he liked it anymore, though. "Alright, fine. I'm just glad you're alive."
"What happened to me?" She asked him. He sat down in the chair again. She rested against the pillows on the bed, holding the white sheets close to her chest.
"You died, Emery."

The book of forever
An experimental diary of sorts recounting my life and experiences, written as a slightly whimsical scifi story about setting off from the past to unknown lands, rebuilding from nothing and finding myself again. The first section of the book contains matched chapters, a chapter for a interlude, both happening at the same time roughly The second section of the book contains more one off stories as we follow one of the travelers explore their heart as well as a unknown land, growing in the process. All of the text here was written in 10 syllable chunks, this reads like a epic of sorts, just with more philosophical focus and POV jumps. Hope you enjoy! >Updates may be sporadic as I only write when I have something about myself I want to share The chapters can all be read individually, although there may be some crossovers between them they work as single poems. You start at whatever chapter you want since these are a collection of roughly connected poems (although you'll notice tie ins and references to eachother)
