《Devil May Love | Niklaus Mikaelson》Chapter Eight: Tornado

to the hotel room, Klaus threw a grade-A tantrum. It was the kind of tantrum where one turns into a mini tornado and everything in their path is destroyed. I planned on leaving a few hundreds for the maids because of it.
Clothes were being thrown out of suitcases (only his thankfully), chairs were broken, walls were punched, the whole nine yards. I didn't really know how to react to him being in that state. If I yelled for him to stop, would he lash out on me? If I tried to physically stop him, would I end up losing a limb?
His eyes were glowing yellow, black veins were prominent under his eyes, and his fangs were out yet I still kind of found him...beautiful.
I snapped back into reality when he picked up our last bottle of unopened Champagne and was about to launch towards the wall.
"Klaus! Stop! Just stop it; you're acting like a sixteenth of your age so stop!" The power behind my voice astonished the both of us but he lowered his arm and turned to look at me.
Quickly, I grabbed the liquid stars from his hand and set the bottle on the table before forcing him to sit down as I stood in front of him. For once, I felt like the powerful one between the two of us.
Tears were in his golden eyes but they never spilled over, "Your eyes" He murmured looking astonished as he stared deeply into my eyes.
Aside from them burning a bit, I didn't understand what he was talking about. I wasn't crying was I? Because seriously, I would feel like a fool after my whole yell thing.
"They're red and orange" He whispered standing in half a second before lifting my chin and studying them, "Vibrant, alluring, fiery"
Frowning, I tried to wiggle my face out of his grasp to no avail.
"Th-that doesn't make sense...you're seeing things"
He ticked an eyebrow and just looked at me, "You don't even believe what you just said. Look for yourself"
As soon as he let me go, I sped to the slightly destroyed bathroom and looked towards the mirror feeling my heartbeat spike at the sight before me. Sure enough the veins under my eyes were black but instead of the usual blood red, there was the color of fire in my eyes.
"This can't be happening" I murmured watching in horror as my fangs protruded but my canines were sharper than usual and my ears were becoming pointed at the top.
Stop, stop, stop, STOP!
Hyperventilating, I began blinking continuously while trying to steady my heartbeat enough to stop myself from fully forming. My chest began to sting badly but I felt myself going back to normal. The veins disappeared, my ears were back to their normal shape, my fangs retracted, and finally my eyes were back to a pale green.
Klaus was sitting, drinking from the champagne bottle, eyeing his mess when I returned.

His gaze never left me as I sat across him on the least destroyed couch and reached over to grab the bottle of alcohol from him for the second time.
He moved the bottle away so I couldn't reach, "Care to explain?"
I sighed, visibly deflating before I shrugged, "More unus is coming out, I don't know how but it is and I could possibly die from it"
Apparently, Klaus thought I needed a drink so he handed me the bottle with a calculating expression on his face. I knew he was trying to make sense of things and I also knew he wasn't going to be able to. He thought that side of me was a myth after all.
"Have you spoken to a witch yet?"
"Witches don't particularly care for me, being a supernatural abomination and all. They might actually dislike me more than you" I laughed dryly at my words and the original grinned.
"I doubt it" He said arrogantly wearing a cocky smile, "I have a habit of riling them up with my antics"
Rolling my eyes, I chuckled a bit, "I'm sure but I'll probably just end up going back to Spain if anything, my Nana should know what to do"
"And if she doesn't?"
"Then I die" I said with a shrug before taking a long swig of the champagne and then another.
My human side was pretty buzzed—quite the lightweight—but the vampire and unus side were barely affected to overall I was fuzzy but only barely. Klaus on the other hand, didn't seem fazed at all and it kind of irritated me.
"How much does it take you to get drunk?" I asked, letting my curiosity get the best of me.
That and I lost more and more of a filter when alcohol became involved. Let's just hope I make it through the night without losing a limb.
The blonde hybrid just shrugged, looking off into space, "It's not very much about quantity, love, it's more so based on control or...lack of it"
He gave me a pointed look and I lifted an eyebrow at him.
"Are you saying that I have no control?"
He smirked and shrugged trying to pull off a clueless look, "Well you do have half a bottle of champagne running through your veins as we speak"
My jaw dropped and I looked at him incredulously, "Says the man whose mess we're literally in the middle of!"
"Touché"
I rolled my eyes and put the bottle down before getting up to go to bed but Klaus stopped me.
"Where are you headed off to?"
I glanced at him over my shoulder, "What does it look like? I'm shoveling off the bed and then climbing into it"
"I don't remember dismissing you to bed"
He tried to look high and mighty as he glared at me but his mask was ruined by the look in his eyes.
I barked out a bitter laughter, "You're still playing the hostage card with me, Nik? I mean, seriously, what are you planning to do, tie me up in a broken chair or something? Make me clean up the mess?"

The man furrowed his eyebrows, "Nik?"
My breath hitched in my throat, I hadn't even realized I called him that and I didn't even know why I did. Now things were brutally awkward and I definitely could've made a mistake by calling him that.
"I—um—I'm sorry it just slipped and I...I don't know...why..." Staring down at the carpet seemed like a better choice than facing the look he'd be wearing.
He cleared his throat and my eyes snapped up to his. They read something I couldn't quite recognize but it felt...familiar for whatever reason.
"It's fine" He said quietly, now him being the one staring at the floor, "Rebekah is really the only one I've known to call me it is all"
"Y-your sister?" I stuttered furrowing my eyebrows and he just nodded, "Elijah spoke about her a lot during our friendship...have you been in touch with either of them?"
The man's face hardened before me in seconds, "Yes and no...they currently lay daggered in their designated coffins"
My eyebrows shot up at his statement, "I'm sorry, what?"
"They all betrayed me" He muttered with a simple shrug like it was nothing when it was absolutely something.
"Dagger meaning...what exactly?" I questioned, I wasn't very familiar with the term but I was pretty terrified by it.
Klaus sighed, "As you know, us originals can't be killed but there is a special dagger dipped in something quite lethal to us that can kill us temporarily if stabbed into our hearts and left there"
"And that's how all of your siblings are right now? Temporarily dead?" I probably had a horrified look on my face but at least there was a reason for it.
Sure my brother's have annoyed me at certain times but even if they didn't accept me when I came back I wouldn't just temporarily kill them for it! I wasn't sure why I was even surprised that the Original hybrid had done something of the sort but it was still sickening to think about. I wanted to know what his siblings did to him for them to 'deserve' something like that but there was pretty much a slim chance he'd actually tell me.
The blonde rolled his eyes, "Don't look so shocked love, it was all necessary. I'm sure you know what it's like when siblings go off the rail"
"Not really" I deadpanned, "I haven't seen my brothers in more than a century, anything I've heard about them are through rumors and stories. I was going to start catching up with them but then this whole werewolf bite fiasco happened, I think you might be familiar with it"
The hybrid cut his eyes at me but slowly began to grin, "So you've heard about the infamous Ripper, then?"
"I thought they had the wrong brother honestly but yes, I have"
Klaus had a certain glimmer in his eye when he spoke about some of Stefan's darkest days. It worried me because I knew he had a plan brewing in his head.
"Those were his best days in my opinion" He stated smugly, "Nothing is better than a vampire in his true element"
I scoffed at that, "True element? My brother in that state was not a vampire in its true element, that was a man who became a monstrous killer only for it to cripple him after he brought himself back to reality"
Klaus tsked at me and shook his head before blurring into my personal space causing me to jump at the sudden invasion.
"Now, now love...you've got it all wrong...us vampires are made for power and to kill" He whispered into my ear taking one step forward with each step I took back, "We live on the chase and the ecstasy of pain and pleasure of getting everything we want"
By the time he finished his little spiel I was backed against the wall where he caged me in with his physique with his lips a millimeter away from my ear. My body was heating up with each breath he fanned against my skin and my eyes were beginning to burn and it wasn't from tears. The sporadic beat of my heart could've probably been heard from even a human ear. I was stunned speechless.
"I would've loved to have seen you at your darkest Dear Angel...I'm sure it was quite the sight to see" He was speaking painfully slow and dangerously low, it felt like I was walking into the heat of the sun being so close to him.
"Stop" I muttered weakly avoiding his gaze as I put my hand on his chest to push him off.
There was an immediate sizzling sound once I made contact with his shirt and he growled in pain while my eyes went wide when I realized I'd burnt him. Quickly, I retracted my palm and stared at it in confusion. It looked exactly the same but obviously wasn't if I'd just burnt an Original just by touching him.
Per usual, Klaus grabbed my chin ignoring the sound of his flesh burning this time and studied my eyes again with a menacing look in his. I struggled in his grip, trying to shove him off of me, but I was forced to stay where I was since he was stronger than me and obviously didn't care about the fact that my skin felt like fire.
"Interesting..." He murmured moving his eyes back and forth across my face before forcing me to open my mouth to reveal my newly elongated fangs. He looked down at them and smirked before letting me go.
"Go pack your things, we're going to our next destination"
