A few weeks had passed since Stefan left town with Klaus and the whole supernatural community was missing him. It had gotten to the point that sheriff Forbes was searching for leads around the clock and Elena was personally driving down to each one.
Ariana took an extended leave from Juilliard so that she could finish highschool and her professors allowed that as long as she kept up with practise. Elena awoke with a usual pouting expression, after their fail at returning Stefan in Chicago, she'd given up but on that day, something was different.
Elena walked down the stairs and a beautiful melody overtook her ears, she heard her sisters harmonious voice and as she entered the sitting room, she saw her sister rapidly playing the keyboard in the left hand corner, her fingers dancing swiftly and her voice producing an godly sound.
Ariana's voice was a source of magic alone, it always managed to relax every muscle in a humans body. It had always bemused Elena that Ariana could play so wonderfully whilst being unable to see. Elena and Ariana both took piano lessons as a child but Elena could never get the hang of it however, after many failed attempts, Ariana became a magnificent musician.
Eventually, Ariana extended her skills, learning every musical instrument she was given by their parents, from the age of five upwards, she was given an instrument for every Christmas and birthday present.
It was safe to say that the world had not been easy in Ariana, she'd lost everyone she cared about and she was considered disabled, many neglected to be her friend or did so out of pity and that highly angered her, she could never decipher why somebody would pity her.
"That was beautiful" Elena complimented as the music died and Ariana smiled, she had already known Elena was in the room, she'd felt her twins presence.

"Thank you, how are you today?"
"I'm okay" Elena sighed and Ariana tilted her head gently.
"You won't be sad forever Elena, eventually Stefan shall return and he'll never leave you again" Ariana promised.
"What makes you such an expert Aria?" Elena teased and Ariana smiled whilst playing random keys on the piano, her happy behavior was often thought of as odd to people but Elena adored it.
"I don't need to of been in love to know it when I see it." She answered before giggling at her own words "sorry, I didn't realise how ridiculous that sounded."
At times Elena wondered whether Ariana was really as happy as everyone believed her to be, she surely appeared to be fine but there was always a glint in her eye, a hollow look and that may be because she was blind but Elena thought otherwise.
"It didn't sound ridiculous, I knew what you meant" Elena reassured and Ariana merely hummed as a response, swiveling on the piano stool and picking up the guitar to her left, her hands gently stroked the strings, memorizing their positions before she produced another tune.
Elena walked around the room as she heard her sisters playing, her gaze traveling over the photographs on the walls, there were many of the twins, they were truly identical in every way. One photo caught Elena's attention, it was of the twins on their first day of high school, Elena was hugging Ariana from the side and someone snapped a photo, Elena only knew which was which by the dullness of Ari's eyes and the fact that her hair was slightly curled.
"It's senior prank night tonight" Elena informed her younger twin and Ari smiled from the piano stool, all of her friends had been overly excited for that night to arrive and Ariana could never comprehend why.

"I know, are you going?"
"Caroline's making me which means you are coming as well."
"Do I get a choice?"
"Nope" Elena popped the 'p' and then exited the room, heading up the stairs and leaving Ariana to play her guitar in peace.

Ariana sat on the teachers desk chair, hearing the click of mouse traps as her friends set them up around her, they all chatted aimlessly and Ariana suddenly jolted forward when they went off in one go.
"Matt!" Everyone shrieked and Ari tilted her head slightly, not knowing what was happening.
"Forgot it was prank night?" Tyler asked as he sat on the teachers desk beside Ariana, lifting one of her curls and trailing it around his hand, she smiled upwards, every one of her friends had a different way of announcing their presence to her, this was Tyler's.
"Obviously" the blond jock sighed and everyone smirked, knowing what was about to happen.
"How could you forget!" Caroline scolded before starting to rant, only being cut off when Elena started mocking her speech. Ariana blocked out the rest of the words exchanged until she felt someone tap three times on her hand; Elena.
Ariana took Elena's opened hand and they exited the room together, being stopped by Caroline as they did so.
"Where are you two going?"
"To super glue Alaric's desk shut" they answered in sync, having had the exact same idea.
"I love you!" Caroline yelled as they started walking down the corridor, Ariana briefly overheard Tyler ordering the other seniors as though they were soldiers and both girls giggled as they walked toward the double doors.

Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. Tales of Ordinary, Completely Unremarkable Contractors
"Where life had no value, death, sometimes, had its price. That is why the mercenaries appeared." - Artur Xerxes, in A Century of Disappointment: Memoirs of a Travelling Dwarf It's never too difficult to land contracts for a set very specialised skills in a continent teeming with werewolves, vampires, giant leopards, undead and, god forbid, elves. The difficulty comes when these contractors find themselves suffocated in the dense atmosphere of this world's rigid - and mostly unfair - rules; death, suffering and misfortune await those unwilling to sacrifice to bend these in their favour. In this non-linear plot, you will observe a scarred and deformed farm girl cashing her first bounty posters, a seemingly ordinary barmaid at a tavern in the bustling centre of a sprawling, corrupt city and an enigmatic leader of a firm specialising in dealings any other would consider suicidal. Watch them all take everything to the next level at every available opportunity, and then feel dread at the thought that this still might not be enough to halt the physical embodiment of doom about to do what it does best Please, feel free to review and comment! Any sort of feedback can help me become a better writer and write more engaging stories for you. I used to update once every 3-5 days, but this rewrite is taking much too long...I do hope it will be worth it.
