《Demigods Meet Mortals》Mina Yoo (Katie Gardner)

Just a quick disclaimer, I don't recall reading about what Katie Gardner uses as her weapons, and this was written on short notice. All information on Katie here is just from the Riordan Wiki and other information from Gods knows where I found them. AnYwAyS, enjoy!
__________
"Hey Mina!" I turned around and almost got choked to death, okay, maybe that was a little exaggerated, but Grace hugged me so tightly that's what it felt like then. "Can't. Breathe!" I choked out, she let go and smiled sheepishly, "Sorry." She murmured, I smiled and grabbed her wrist, checked my watch and showed it to her. "We're going to be late!" She cried before running off, taking me with her.
I sat down and put down my things and lunch tray, "Hey, Ben, Jay, Jane, and Grace." They all smiled at me in greeting and went back to eating. I scanned my tray, castle salad? Check. Spring water? Check. Small fruit cup? Check. I'm lucky that I go to a school that's actually serious about their cafeteria food, and my lunch today is super yum, after all, it's made by miss Matilda. That's when I noticed something weird.
"Where's Katie?" I asked Ben, since he has a crush on her, so he likes to know where she is. But he just shrugged. Weird. "Hey guys, just to let you know, I'm going to the field after lunch, so yeah." Jane was the first to react, "Why? Don't tell me you're going to the field to hang with John, I know that he asked you to meet him there," Katie shook her head. "No, not because of that. My boyfriend and my friends are coming over, so I'm meeting them on the field after lunch, after all, why not take advantage of the free two periods we have?" I was shook.

"And you didn't think of inviting us to come?" "You have a boyfriend?" Me and Ben said at the same time, and I'm sure you know who said what. Hint, Ben said the boyfriend one. Anyway, Katie was surprised, "Yes, I have a boyfriend Ben, and I didn't think you would like to come. Would you?" We all nodded our heads like crazy. She laughed and told us that we needed to eat faster then.
When we were done, we walked to the field with Katie in the lead, I was going to tell her about something that happened in Chemistry when we heard a loud commotion on one corner of the field, we ran over, Katie the fastest. "What the Hades is going on?" Katie cried, and James, Carlo, and Vicky turned around, "There's demigods here! Look there!" Katie looked horrified and rushed to the front, to be faced with two one eyed guys, I remembered from Greek mythology class that they were called cyclopes. This was why I hated that the gods were revealed and that they even existed.
Instead of running away, Katie ran to the other kids that were fighting other cyclopes, I didn't notice them before, Katie ran to one Latino boy with a tool belt who was cursing stuff like: I just wanted to come over and see Katie, holy Hades!
Katie yelled, "Leo! my scythes!" The Latino boy took two long sword things out of his tool belt, what? And gave them to Katie, she looked back and saw the two cyclopes and she waited for them to run forward and try to hit her with their clubs before cartwheeling away, she jumped and landed on the cyclopes, I turned my gaze to the other kids, I saw a gold eyed girl running around slashing her big sword around, hitting the hellhounds she was battling. A blonde boy was flying and- he was flying! I then noticed that another boy, this one on the ground, with jet black hair, seemed to be controlling the water in the school swimming pool water to blast at the tons of monsters standing a little more than twenty feet away from him.

I saw that the blonde and black haired guys exchange a glance before the blacked haired boy let go of the water before running towards the blonde and I saw a black haired girl with green eyes lift her hands and green smoke appeared, lifting the black hair boy, I heard someone call him Percy, up to the blonde, who I heard Katie call Jason a moment ago, and the duo lifted the swords they were holding and clashed them together, the sky shifted, the earth trembled, and I saw the green eyed girl float up, her hands waving around, smoke surrounded the perimeter and the three looked at each other before a wave of all the monsters exploded into golden dust.
Katie ran over to us, and I grabbed her, "What the heck!" She looked at the other kids before turning back to us, "I'm Katie Gardner, daughter of Demeter, and I'm not coming back. Sorry you couldn't meet my friends properly." She smiled and ran off, that's when I realised that there was grass ropes everywhere, oh well.
And that? Is how I realised that I would hate to be a demigod like Katie.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Please use your best judgment, and don't be afraid to take breaks and come back later. I'll still be here! [Discord] - come hang out and chat!
