《Scarlet Taste (Vampire! Yandere x Emotionless! Reader)》15. Red as wine

There was finally light outside. It was the early morning, When you tried to get out of bed, you noticed that there was a man laying right beside you. He held you close to his chest, breathing softly and steadily.

You thought his hair was the color of untouched snow, but upon closer inspection, you notices that it was platinum blond. His skin was pale, deathly pale, but his cheeks held color. They were dusted light pink. His soft looking lips were parted slightly and soft snoring could be heard.

Your face felt hot and your heart rate sped up just a tiny bit. You weren't sure what was going on with your beating heart, all you know is that you don't like it.

Books and coffee.

That's what the man smelled like. That's what Cain smelled like.

Cain face was a surprise. You thought he would look older, more... mature, but he looked about the same age as you... or maybe a little older. Twenty years old was your guess.

You put you hand on Cain's cheek, slowly moving it towards his messy hair. It was soft, softer than the velvet sheets. You trail your hand back down, going over his cheek and going straight for his lips. They were as soft as they looked.

Studying Cain's face more, your finger still on his lips, you notice how lovely he truly is. Long white eyelashes and pink lips, yet he somehow managed to maintain some masculinity.

He was a pretty boy.

Suddenly, Cain licks you finger and then gently bites down on it with his two front teeth, his eyes still closed. You could feel the pressure, but it didn't hurt. He takes his hand, and wraps his fingers around your smaller hands. He kisses the tip of your finger, his eye lids opening. He stares into your eyes, his eyes half lidded and he smirks, kissing your finger again.

His eyes were as red as rubies.

Your shoulders were tense, your breath was hitched, and your eyes were wide. He looked so much prettier awake. Your mouth was open slightly at the sight of them. They were like jewels.

If your mother was a goddess, Cain's a god.

"Cain." You say, your usually calm and steady voice wavering. You spoke in a higher tone than usual and your could keep a consistent tone. He just made you feel weird. Uncomfortable...

"Hmm? How did you know it was me?" Cain chuckles, his smirk becoming more devilish. "I don't think you've ever seen me like this before."

"Your... smell." You say, your cheeks still dusted red.

"Oh? I've never seen you make that face before?" Cain says, shocked.

You try to get up again, but Cain holds you down, smiling at you. You could see his white teeth.

His white... sharp.... teeth.

You stare at them, the redness on your face dying down. His teeth were interesting. You lean closer to his face. Now Cain was blushing.

"What are—"

"Cain, what are you?" You asks, the closeness of his face not bothering you.

His canines were slightly longer than the rest of his teeth and they were sharp. He had fangs. That would explain the bite marks on John's neck and on his wife's body. Cain's smugness was left behind. He was scared what you would think. He knew it would come to this because you aren't stupid, he knew it, but he hoped that maybe you would just gloss over it and never notice.

"You already know what I am... don't you? You are smart enough to realize by now." He says, shamefully.

"You're right." You say, your blank eyes still focused on his teeth. "I am."

Thomas stood in his kitchen with a bottle of wine placed on the marble counter beside him. He had a clear wine glass in one hand, twirling the wine around in it, and a large kitchen knife in the other. He could see his reflection in the blade of the knife.

"Netty, my love... tell me what to do." He said, looking at a picture of a kind woman that was hanging on the wall.

She had dark brown eyes and black wavy hair. She had almond shaped eyes, and full pinkish lips. Her skin was a light warm brown, and she had freckles that were dusted all over her face. She was beautiful, so beautiful she could be mistaken for a model. In the picture, she had a wide smile on her face. A smile that showed that she didn't expect what was going to happen to her. There was in inscription on the bottoms of the wooden frame.

"In loving memory of Laurie 'Netty' Wilson," it said.

Netty was Thomas's dead wife. Right before he met your mother, his wife had mysteriously died. That's what the whole town thought and so... no one blamed him for going after a pretty woman like your mother. Rather than acknowledging that infidelity is a two person job, the town just made up the excuse that Thomas was grieving and that it was your mother that forced herself upon him. That's one of the things the made the town hate her so much.

Laurie was a good woman. She had a reputation as good as your mother's before you were born. She was a star student, she was beautiful, and everyone liked her. She was also one of your father's crushes, but you didn't know about that. Your stepfather and your real father fought over her all throughout high school even though your stepfather was in a relationship with your mother at the time. Your mother would've been heart broken if she knew.

Your stepfather gave up in his senior year and Thomas got her instead.

And he thought he was happy... but Thomas didn't actually know happiness. Thomas wasn't even sure if he loved her, he didn't understand things like love, but she was so kind and motherly towards him and he finally wasn't so lonely anymore. He felt warm.

So they got married and planned on starting a family... and then she suddenly died. No one knows the details.... no one except Thomas...who knows very well what happened to her.

Thomas realize after he was married that he was in love with the fact that he wasn't lonely and that Laurie could provide him with more company, that's what he thought, but when he found out that she couldn't produce children, he was outraged. She was practically worthless to him so he did away with her.

Simple as that.

He felt regret though. There was no one to keep him company and he was so lonely. Deep down... he knew that he would miss her company, but he killed her anyway.

Thomas takes a sip of his wine. The bottle next to him was near empty and Thomas was very drunk. He's always been a lightweight.

"I'll kill him...my love." He mumbles."I'll rip his spine out of his back, I'll wring his neck like I did yours," he slowly gets louder."I'll burn him and his worthless family while they sleep in their beds, I'll pore bleach in his coffee maker," a crazy smile creep onto his face. "I'll cut off his fingers and toes, I'll poke out his eyes and make him choke on them, I'll pull his brain out of his nose—Oh GOD, Laurie I want you so bad!" Thomas groans, inhaling deeply. "I'll kill him! Bring me back my company John!" Thomas laughs, staring up at the ceiling. "BRING... HER...BACK!"

He swings the knife down, aiming for the marble counter. He had a crazed look on his face. His dull eyes twinkled with murderous intent, but before the knife could even leave a scratch on the marble...

Thomas stops, his face going blank as he takes a sip of his wine before pouring the rest out in the kitchen sink.

"I should really stop drinking huh?"

Setting the empty glass down, he stares at the knife in his hand, running his finger down the dull side. He sighs, putting the knife back in it's proper place.

"Perhaps I should talk to him first... or not? What do you think?" Thomas looks at Laurie's picture again."Either way... he's going to die."

Thomas smirks, leaving the kitchen.
