《Angelic Summons》Haze

After I had finished moping it was time to head home. I waved goodbye to the cats and tried to take a few detours when I noticed a few were still trying to follow me.
They were very cute but letting strays know where I lived was not my priority. Especially with the strict no pets policy on my lease.
Rent is due end of this week as well…
World is about to end and I still have to pay for rent? Bummer.
I know that the world as a whole is changing rapidly, with new leaders and groups forming but it is hard feel anything lately.
The most social experience I had this week was feeding these cats today, and I don’t even want these animals around my apartment complex.
I took another look at my skill
Summoning Lvl. 1(Non-Attuned)
Would it be so bad to try and attune it now? Acedia told me to hold of on this but I feel compelled to at least try.
Then again most of the stuff he said about essence went right over my head.
My head began to buzz as I tried to think about our conversation earlier this week.
I felt weak mentality and physically. My arm stump throbbed. I remembered the assault by the other sins earlier this week and how powerless I was after ring dismembered.
At some point I realized My body was laying on the sidewalk outside of my building. My legs refused to work for me and the stump continued to throb, feeling as if it would spilt among some invisible seam.
It was painful but my body was refusing to move no mater how hard I tried to thrash around. A haze invaded my senses as I tried to turn my head towards my second story residence.

In my mind I caught a glimpse of Acedia laying still on my bed in his coma. His body perfectly still before it began to tremble. He spat out some blood and looked as if he was having some sort of seizure. He seemed weaker in my Mind and looked as if he had sunk deeper into his coma.
My right leg kicked out from under me as I once again tried to force movement. The angle I the sidewalk was helped me to sit up and and get my bearings.
My right and left feet were tingling from lack of blood flow, which prompted me to try look at my now fully healed right leg.
It wasn’t healed, rather it felt as if it was being returned to me. Fitting back in like a large puzzle piece. The haze surrounding my thoughts grew strong as I tried to acknowledge the sudden introduction of my whole leg.
How long was it healed and why hadn’t I noticed before. I was obviously moving around today despite the antisocial behavior I recently adapted. And I remember only coming out at night to avoid any questions from the neighbors. So why was I fully healed without noticing it.
What changed or rather, why was I being blocked from trying to figure out the reason behind the supposed sacrifice being returned to me?
Whatever…
Acedia can probably tell me what is going on once he gets better.
I stood up shakily and made my way indoors towards the heavily injured Acedia.
Hopefully my memories will start to clear up as well, I feel as If I cannot remember anything prior to the appearance of the red mass in the sky.
It was more than a little scary, not being able to remember anything or anyone before the sudden change.

I felt like an alien. I didn’t even remember my family.
I continued to trudge through the hallway as I approached my room, and I noticed a pair of striking yellow eyes looking through the glass window at the end of the hallway. It had gleaming silver claws and all of its other features were hidden in the darkness outside. The lamps outside must have been burned out after I entered the building because it was pitch dark outside.
The cat noticed I was looking before it’s eyes widened slightly as it hurriedly ducked out of the windowsill.
Okay…
My head was still playing tricks with me I guess, because I am pretty sure that I shook off all the cats on my way home.
Entering into my apartment I was greeted with two things. Acedia lying on the bed looking like the vision I had earlier of him, and a short, fat man pointing a gun at me while sweating profusely.

Combat Origin is the first book in the World of Combat, young adult, dystopia series. If you like strong heroines, gamelit/litrpg and a good brawl, keep reading. Author note: I just discovered the Royal Road community and decided to jump in and participate. I posted Combat Origin, Book 1 during Nov and Dec of 2019 (before moving it to Amazon), followed by the short story prequel that gave backstory on two of the main characters. (non-Gamelit - because the gaming AI hasn't been found yet) Now, Book 5 has been finished and posted on Amazon, which allows me to leave a 10% sample here. The books are all free to read, If you have Kindle Unlimited. Please comment, ask questions, offer suggestions or just say hi. I'm hoping to connect with readers and improve my storytelling. -- Misty :) https://www.amazon.com/author/mistyzaugg https://mistyzaugg.com/

The Foretold: Sun Child (Complete)
As a sixteen year old commoner, your future is bleak. Worse, your appearance sets you apart from others. Your only achievement so far, is befriending the second son of the Lord of the Keep. He has been your only friend for eleven years, initially partner in mischief and later your hunting companion and confidant. Now your friendship is being torn asunder, he has turned eighteen and is being sent away to become a Judge Knight Aspirant. What is to become of you? Before your friend leaves, there is murder and conspiracy! Magic left the land hundreds of years ago, all you have is your bow and hunting skills, nevertheless you must fight to survive and save another to have any hope of a future! Note: The graphic isn't mine; it is a re-imagining of a few separate images, any objections by original artists let me know. N.B. If you are looking for Sexual Content every chapter, or every second, third or fourth chapter this isn't the story for you - the Sexual Content is required for a plot device, not a way of life and the later chapters reflect that - please stop dropping Low Ratings when you feel I haven't met your idea of "fan service". This is finished as much as a multi book vision can be finished. At 750,000 words give or take and very little readership I can only blame myself. I have learnt a lot, possibly forgotten a lot as well! I will probably return to the Chapters at some point - a touch up here and a touch up there. The second book though will probably remain in my head for a very long time, so yes "cliffs" although I hope the characters and their motivations are developed enough that you can have a good guess at the content of Book Two and tell me so I can confirm or deny! This isn't a LITRPG where classes are developed, great foes are defeated by a hero of immense power. This is a story based within (I hope) a very real and consistent culture, that leaves breadcrumbs for the reader to work out what the heck is happening and why. This is a slow burn story as the MC is stumbling around discovering her new place and role. Author's Note (Apr 2021): I dropped the Fantasy Genre for the Mystery Genre, because while the setting mentions magic, is it about past glories and trying to return to them. Whereas the MC from Chapter One doesn't understand her predicament and the range of mysteries she must solve to survive. If I have this wrong PM me and I will change this back.
