《Meteor High》Chapter 3: I was wrong

The hallway went completely dark. Glass and torn apart parts of the building were still falling over the form of two figures.
Victor was holding Emma was under him. Glass and huge chunks of the ceiling were covering his back.
“Are you ok?” Victor asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” she answered. “Are you?”
Victor struggled to move, blood started to drip from under his shirt. He winced, but still managed to move the debris off of him and stand up with shaky legs.
“Yeah, I’m ok,” He told her.
“What happened? Why did the building start collapsing?” She asked.
But Victor wasn’t paying any attention to her right now. He was too busy thinking about Dr. Ryan’s words, Beth and his Mom.
“Victor? Are you ok?” Emma asked.
“Yeah, I…I’m fine. I’ve got to go.” He said as he ran down the destroyed hall.
I have to see if Beth is fine, I promised I’d keep her safe.
As Victor pushed his way through the main door and down the steps of the building, He saw someone running to the back of the school.
It was Rick Benaz, the richest kid in school and resident asshole. Victor ignored the boy before he caught sight of some else running up behind Rick. It was Daman.
What is Daman doing with Rick?
Victor thought for a second then moved to ignore the duo but another small explosion sound out from behind the school. Thinking quickly Victor finally followed after them
But when he got to where they were, he stopped in his tracks. The back part of the school was destroyed. Among the wreckage, thousands of small craters with little glowing orbs were seen surrounding the backfield. But what mainly caught Victor's attention were the four huge orbs sitting in the middle of the small rocks.

Each was a different color. One a dark sinister looking gold. Another a cold brilliant silver. The next one was slightly translucent red and the last one was very bright green.
As Victor stared in disbelief at the glowing orbs, Rick and Daman were yelling at each other about something on the side.
"Why are you following me like a creep," Rick asked with disdain leaking from his voice.
"I was just making sure you were ok. Your father would be worried if anything happened." Daman explained, his entire being radiating the image of a leashed dog.
What are they doing? Victor thought.
Do they not see the four fucking giant glowing rocks in front of us?
As he snapped out of his shock, he noticed some movement in the trees behind Rick and Damon.
Someone was watching them from behind one of the trees lining the back of the school. Victor couldn’t see their face, but he could tell that it was a guy from the outline.
He stood there watching them then moved a little closer when he saw Victor looking at him.
The boy was a little younger than Victor, He had long black hair shaved at the side, dark brown skin, and what looked like tribal markings running down his arms. He looked like he’d been living in the woods because he was covered in dirt.
Looking away from the boy, Victor moved up behind where Daman and Rick were auguring about, but when Daman him coming, for some reason he tried to run. But his leg caught when took his first step, he tripped over himself and before he hit the ground, his hand touched one of the rocks.
At that moment there was a huge explosion and a wave of colorful energy washed over the school.

The ground started to shake and crack open.
And the parts of the school that weren’t already destroyed started to come down.
Victor fell to the ground immediately, but not because of the small earthquake.
A sharp, searing pain entered his eyes. It felt like someone was throwing flaming pieces of metal in both his eyes and before long that burning sensation started to spread over his entire body.
He began to scream as loud as He could. But as his voice started to give away from what felt like hours of screaming, he heard a loud voice echo inside his head.
It sounded like millions of people trying to talk at once.
“I choose you to represent me. So you better not fail.” The voice said.
As soon as it stopped talking, the ground stopped shaking and the pain in his eyes and body had suddenly stopped.
An eerie calm spread over the grounds, but everyone could feel that whatever just happened was only the beginning of a very long nightmare.
