《His Adventure In The Soul World》Chapter 9 : (Arc - Eternal Love) Hunting a Green Monkey-mok

“It is just like a normal yellow monkey-mok. The size is about the same. Their hands are also that of the monkeys’. Only their feet are different. Their feet are that of a chicken: long and thin starting under its kneels. And the three fingers on the feet looks quite sharp. I saw a rabbit-like mok in its hands and a clean cut at its neck. I think the green monkey-mok uses its feet as its lethal weapon. We need to take note of it.” I informed them.

After digesting the information, Brick asks “Does that green monkey-mok live alone?”

“Ah, sorry, I forget to tell you about that”, I said, “when I saw it entered the cave behind the bush, I dared not enter it since the cave is its hideout and I also am not sure about whether it is alone or not. But I waited and watched the entrance for a long time. And I found no other green-mok. Besides, I hear no voice from the cave as well. So, I think it is alone. But better be safe than sorry. We must be careful. After all, I’m not a professional scout.”

Rey intervented, “Nope, what you collected may be better than what we both could have done. Okay, now that we know its place. Do we start now? It would be nice to get its mok-soul. To kill it, tickle it to death?”

Brick and I look at him. We smiled and showed him the pointed arm bone on our waist.

“I also want one of that. When we reach back, we must go to bone smith. You must buy me a bone weapon at least.” Rey complained.

Brick and I just chuckled and continue our plan to hunt the green monkey-mok.

“So, what’s our plan?” asked Brick.

“Our plan is just like we did with the yellow monkey-mok. We will tie it with the vine we have taken. We will stab it to death after that. May be it is in deep sleep by now. If necessary, we will all use soul fusion. With enhanced strength, we wouldn’t find it difficult to kill one green monkey-mok.” I answered, “But we would have to be careful since we don’t know if there are other moks in the cave other than the green monkey-mok. Okay, let’s start now”

And just a moment after we move out of our hiding spot, “Ti Ti Ti Ti Tu Tu Tu Tu”. An alarm-like sound is heard. We quickly went back to our hiding spot and watch what is happening. There we saw a boar-mok trying to eat some berries on a bush. And on that bush, flying insects can be seen. The alarm sounds are coming from those flying insects. And at that moment, a green monkey-mok gets out from the bush and using its feet, it slice the boar-mok in the face. The boar mok, in its fright, tries to attack the green monkey-mok with its tusks. But the green monkey-mok is quite a good fighter. It dodges easily by jumping high and lands on the back of the boar-mok. Using its feet, the green monkey-mok slice the neck of the boar many time.

This time, the boar does not fight back anymore. It runs away bleeding profusely.

The green monkey-mok does not bother chasing the boar-mok. It just move the bush aside and entered its hole behind the bush. Yes, this one is living in a hole.

Seeing the green monkey-mok fight with our own eyes, we decide firmly not to give the green monkey-mok we will hunt a chance to fight back.

“Hey, Cank, this one is also a green monkey-mok, right? Can’t we hunt it?” Rey asked.

“Yes, we can.” I answered coldly, “If you are capable of fighting it alone, since it is already alarmed.”

“You would find it easier if you can avoid those annoying alarm insects” added Brick.

“Doesn’t this mean the one Cank saw would have alarm insects on its bush? Isn’t it also the same?” asked Rey.

“You may be right. Last night, I didn’t clearly see because it is dark. But I don’t know how to avoid those insects if there are some on that bush.” I said.

But before I finished my speech, I heard a sound, something was thrown on the ground. “Boaat”. It is from the direction of bush. At that time, the insects all fly to the back of the bush. “Whee, Dok” a stone was thrown to the bush.

Rey threw it and said to me, smiling guiltily “Testing whether what I guess is right. We can run fast anyway. And we are about to leave as well.” “Don’t do anything without telling us again” I shouted in a low voice. But strangely, no alarm sound is heard nor any insect is seen although a stone is thrown right into their place.

“What is that you guessed?” I asked Rey. He answered, “I think the green monkey-mok and the insects are co-operating for their survival.” Brick and I are listening attentively to Rey while looking at the bush without a blink. Rey continued, “The green monkey-mok would feed the insects so that they would watch out the potential threat for the monkey and alarm it.” He paused for a while. “And?” Brick asked. “And I think the insects are only fed when they make an alarm. So, I mean they are really hungry at other time. So, when it is time for their meal, they won’t even know if someone of them is killed.”

“Why are you so sure about it?” I doubted.

“Well, I’m a genius.” Rey replied. Both Brick and I looked at him with a frown.

“Okay, I give up. Larry told me about the insect. Just before we leave the village, I went to reception and asked her if there is anything we need to take caution on our hunt and she told me about the alarm insect. I asked her the way to solve the insect. She said she would tell me if I give her the remain of a mok. So, I agreed. At least, I wanted to act like a real genius for a while before telling you guys. Anyway, I have done it and I’m satisfied.” Rey laughed, “To give her the body of a mok is worthy of the information, don’t you guys think so?”

“Thank you, anything else left to tell?” I said.

“Nope, she told me we only need to care about the insects. The other moks are not as cautious as green monkey-moks.”

“Thanks, I think we should talk more to Larry when we go back to the village” said Brick.

“Indeed” I added, “for now, let’s go to the green monkey mok I saw. This one, here, is probably awake now. I don’t want to waste hours of our time until it is in deep sleep. We will first go to the injured boar and kill it. Then using its flesh, we will make diversion for the insects. Then we will go into the cave. And then, as planned.”

The boar couldn’t go too far with its injury. And its loss of blood has caused it become weak. When we reach near it, it is almost dead. I let Rey kill the boar by stabbing the already torn neck of the boar with my pointed arm bone. It died and he got no soul. In a way, this is also luck that we don’t get a soul. Since we have to give a mok-body to Larry, we can use this one. I cut a chunk of meat from the neck region of the boar and carefully go to the cave I found yesterday. When our hunt is over, we will store the boar and the green monkey-mok in that cave. The dead bodies of the soul world doesn’t become stinky in a few days. Unlike on earth, it started only after about a week.

When I reach the cave, on the bush, I find many insects. They might be those alarm insects. I pick the chunk of meat I prepared and throw it near the bush but not in the way we would use to go into the cave. An army of insect immediately fly out of the bush and go for the chunk of meat I just threw. We carefully move towards the bush. The insects don’t even bother us. After pushing the bush aside, I saw a cave and entered it. Using the hand signs, I tell Brick and Rey to be quiet and careful. The interior of the cave is a bit dark. But there are some luminous stones embedded on the cave’s world. How nice would it be if I can dig them out. But the soul world wouldn’t let me do it.

Soon, we find a sleeping green monkey besides a pile of small bones. I think the bones are those of its preys. We carefully move towards it and using the vines, Rey and Brick ties its legs and hands as well as neck. I was in position to choke it if anything unexpected happens. But fortunately, the monkey is in deep sleep so it didn’t wake up until Rey and Brick pull the vine from different sides to fasten it. The green monkey finds itself in a dangerous situation and tries to struggle but to no avail. Its vitality is quite strong. It doesn’t faint easily. So, I punch its jaw and chest where there supposes to be heart. Still, it can hold out. So, I use fusion. And my strength become enhanced. I continue pummeling it. Soon, due to the stress of the vine and my punches, it faints.

The reason I don’t stab it before it faints is because I’m worried that the pain would trigger its desperation to an extreme level and it would become stronger than it should be. Before I’m strong enough to fight it face to face, I would avoid those kinds of scenarios as much as possible. When it faints, Brick kills it and no mok-soul is gained.
