You kept reaching for his hand. But he kept pulling away. You kept trying to hug him, but he'd back up. You kept trying to lean on him... but he didn't want you to.

Warning signs.

So many warning signs for the day he'd say:

"I'm sorry, I've fallen in love with someone else, let's break up!" with a sweet smile.

Akio, former boyfriend, current ex boyfriend.

You were currently alone in your room, hugging your pillow tightly and flipping through the pictures of the two of you.

Akio always smiled sweetly, put a peace sign up, and leaned close to you but never touched you. He wasn't very handsy at all but he still at the very least was kind to you. He was practically your best friend!

You sighed. Your only friend really...

You buried your head in your pillow. The way he said it... he'd never once said he loved you. Only called you adorable, lovely, or dear. But then, to tell you while the two of you were on a date!!

"Ive fallen in love with someone else! Let's break up."

Tears swelled up in your eyes. You wiped them away and looked back at the photos of the two of you. You stared in his digitally photographed eyes. His bright... blue eyes.

You quickly checked his social media to see if he'd change his status to single again. But you were suprised to find it still said taken.

For a moment your heart fluttered. Does that mean he might still want you-?!

Then you noticed who it was at. It wasn't you. It was a link to some other girls profile.

You threw your phone across the room and dug your teeth into your pillow. "That asshole." You whispered. "He was probably cheating on me too!!" You hissed.

As angry as you wanted to be... you just couldn't bring yourself to. All you felt was melancholy.

Your phone suddenly buzzed making your head shoot up. For a second you forgot your current situation.

"Akio?" You whispered, slowly picking your phone off the ground. The excitement quickly faded when you realized it was someone else.

You rose a brow. It was Shino, a guy who went to your same collage and had a few classes of yours as well.

"Hey (Y/n) sorry to hear about the news :(

I hope Akio didn't hurt you too bad, that guy can be brutal." Is what his message said.

You opened it up cautiously and hesitantly typed back "Nah... it's totally fine. I saw it coming anyways."

You bit your lip. That was the biggest lie you've ever told in your life! It was fine? You saw it coming?! More like you should be fine and you should've seen it coming. But you were just so happy to finally have a relationship- with someone who was not only handsome but also kind- that you didn't even care about the warning signs! You just assumed this was how he dated people.

'I bet he's fucking her right now...' you thought. You quickly shook your head. No! Don't make yourself even more upset (Y/n)!! Stay strong!!!

Another ping.

"I see." Shino said. "Well if you need to take your mind off things I was wondering if you wanted to go to the coffee shop with me?"

You blinked. Was he asking you out on a date? Right after your heart got smashed into pieces?? You couldn't help but smile a bit. That was so sweet.

"Sure!" You wrote back. "Id love to!"

And with that, you decided to get some sleep. Just a little less heart broken then before.

You brushed through your hair before gently patting down the winkles in your clothes. You looked in the mirror at yourself. You and Shino had set up a time to meet up and you were just getting ready. You were a little flustered he wanted to hang out with you... you barely knew him that well.

But he seemed to only have good intentions and you hadn't heard anything bad about Shino ever. So... you felt it wasn't a bad decision.

The only thing that made you so nervous was the fact that you just didn't know why. Was he doing it out of pity? Or was there something else?

You threw up a peace sign in the mirror and gave an awkward smile. "I look.... b-beautiful." You struggled, turning to see another angle of yourself. "I-I am purely a- a g-goddess." You turned away. "T-truly... girls w-w-wish they w-were me." Your smile dropped.

At least you tried.

You grabbed your purse and walked out of your home, locking the door behind you.

"Hey Shino!" You said, walking up to him as he stood next to the small convenient store. He looked over at you and gave you a small smile.

"Hello (Y/n)! You look great." He said, turning to face you. You smiled back at him with a small blush on your face.

"Thank you. Sooo...where's this coffee shop?" You asked, rocking on your heels.

"Ah!" He said. "It's this way... trust me you're going to love it! It's so cute." He began walking with you keeping pace with him.

You noticed he was quite a bit taller than Akio. He was already nicer as well... honestly you were kinda starting to hope Shino wasn't just doing this out of pity. Sure, you JUST broke up with Akio but he immediately started dating so he has no room!

The two of you turned a corner, making small talk really. About college, and classes, other people the two of you knew. You were starting to feel a little confident and comfortable but when you turned that corner and looked up it all went away in a blink of an eye.

Akio stood there. With some of his friends. They stood on the other side of the street and despite all the other people walking around you noticed him first.

Your instinct made you reach up and grip on Shinos sleeve. He paused to look at you with a confused expression. "What's wrong?" He asked. You pointed over to where Akio stood. He followed to. "Ah..."

"Is there a different way we could go?" You asked. Shino shook his head.

"Sorry it's on this street, we'd have to go this way." He said. "We could wait a few minutes to see if they'll leave."

You bit your lip. Shino was just too nice for this world... you sighed. "No, it's fine. Let's just go."

Shino seemed hesitant. "Are you sure?"

You nodded. "Yes. I just won't look at him and I'll ignore him."

Shino nodded. "Got it!"

The two of you began walking down the street. You kept your eyes ahead of you, not daring to look in Akios direction. For a moment you forgot your infidelity and prayed to god he wouldn't notice you.

But of course he did. Because why wouldn't he!?

"(Y/n)?"

As soon as you heard your name you forgot your saying you'd ignore him and slowly turned to face him. He stared at you, piercing your soul with his Atlantic colored eyes.

"A-Ah... Akio what a surprise!" You said awkwardly, your eyes struggling to meet his.

He glanced at Shino then back at you. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

You hesitated to speak. "Well-."

"And how come you're with Shino?" Akio said glancing between the two of you once more.

Wait a minute. Why did it feel like he was interrogating you? The two of you weren't dating anymore and he broke up with you? What's this gate keeping feel he's trying to make?

"Oh um..." Shino started. "I was just-."

Without thinking you wrapped your hands around Shinos arm and leaned into him. "He was just taking me on a date! Obviously... because he's my boyfriend." You smiled.

Akio looked shocked for a moment. "Your... boyfriend?"

"Mhm!" You said cheerfully. You felt Shino tense up.

"I see." Akio smiled. "Well, I'm glad you've already moved on (y/n). That makes me happy." He said. "I should get going now. Shino," Akio looked at him. "I'd be careful with (Y/n) she can be such a handful. See ya." With that he walked away.

"Yeah later!" You said, quickly dragging Shino away and towards the coffee shop. The moment the two of you stepped a foot inside you released the breath you were holding in with one heavy wheeze.

You pulled away from Shino and felt a wave of shock and embarrassment wash over you. "Oh my god I'm so so sorry Shino!" You said. "God I'm such an idiot why did I do thattttt." You cried, rubbing your temples.

Shino seemed hesitant to speak, likely out of shock, but eventually said. "It's alright (Y/n) I completely understand." He gave you a soft smile. "I mean... I honestly probably would've done the same."

Your eyes widened. "Y-you're not mad?" You asked, genuinely surprised.

He shook his head. "No of course not."

You slowly smiled at him. "T-...thank you so much Shino!"

Akio walked back to his friends, his eyes staring at the concrete.

"Well Akio was it as funny as you thought it'd be?" One of them said.

"Was she traumatized to see you?" Another asked with a huge grin.

He looked up at them with hollow eyes. He wasn't laughing. Immediately they knew something was up.

"Who said she was allowed to have a boyfriend?" Akio asked in flat tone. No emotion crossed his face.

His friends looked at eachother. "W...What do you mean?" They asked nervously. "You have... a girlfriend too you know."

Akio suddenly shook his head then looked at them with a small smile. "Whatever... if she wants to play a game with me then I'll gladly play." He began walking away from them, they followed cautiously. Something didn't feel quiet right.

"I want to get Akio back." You said, staring at your coffee cup that had your hands currently wrapped around it.

Shino seemed surprised. "Really? I see... well if that's what you want I'll help any way I can." He said.

You smiled, still not looking at him. "No... I've already put you through enough Shino. You don't need to get involved with my mess."

He shook his head. "No I'd be more than happy to."

You rose a brow. Why was he so willing to do this for you? "I...if you want to. But if you wanna back out at any time I get it."

He grinned. "I won't. I promise."

You gave him a soft smile. Truly, you didn't want to involve him at all. He seemed the ignorant type, as in he didn't know what consequences his actions had. He probably thought helping you was the right thing butttt you weren't so sure. You weren't exactly an angel or anything- but not a demon either.

More like... you were just a mess. The utter definition of a human. Who in their right mind would try and get back with their ex who clearly doesn't love them anymore?

You held your phone up to Shino. "Smile! I'm putting this on my Instagram!" You said.

Shino immediately got flustered. "W-what? Really... um ok." He said, throwing a peace sign up and smiling.

You took the picture and then showed him. "Tada." You said.

He stared at it, a blush creeping up on his cheeks. "U-uhm are you sure?" He asked.

You nodded. "Yeah you're cute and pretty photogenic if you ask me." You stated, as you began editing the photo so you could post it.

Shino patted his cheeks in an attempted to stop his blushing. Where you doing that on purpose? "Jeez (y/n)..." he mumbled.

You looked up with a confused look on your face. "What?" You asked.

Guess not... he signed. "Nothing."

As the weeks went on you and Shino would often hang out together. You truly did enjoy his company and a lot of people thought you were dating. Akio ran his mouth to everyone, telling the whole class that you two were a thing.

People would come to you and ask if it were true and depending on the person you would either say it was true or false. So then, people didn't know what to believe anymore. Eventually everyone decided it was best to mind their own business and left it at that.

Your best friend and roommate, the one you share you rent for the house with, practically killed you.

"Why didn't you tell me you broke up with Akio?"

"You're dating Shino!?"

"Since when!?!?"

You explained the situation to her and immediately she calmed down. She said she understood you but you could tell she was slightly upset still.

Myu was her name. She was a beautiful woman, she had good grades, and she was an amazing friend! She gave you a lot of good advice that you'd never listen to but then immediately realize she was right.

She had encouraged you to date Akio and then retracted it saying "he's giving me bad vibes."

You didn't know what that meant so you didn't pay much mind to it. Then Akio broke up with you and you weren't in the mood to tell her it had happened. then Shino messaged you and you know the rest.

Anyway, there was a class field trip coming up. Your class decided on going up to the mountains for some relaxing and you all were going to stay in cabins. Since you were all adults the teacher said he didn't care who you roomed with, boy or girl.

Of course at first you and Myu wanted to but then something else happened...

Avyan, Akios girlfriend, said she really wanted to room with Myu. Of course Myu was confused about this. Avyan has never really liked her or hung out with her but she accepted anyways.

You decided to room with Shino instead. It was strange though... why would Avyan not room with her boyfriend?

Akio scrolled through your social media with a blank look on his face. A few pictures of you and Shino were on there, smiling brightly. If he scrolled past those he would find the few pictures of you and him together.

"Why do I care?" He mumbled, his voice low and hollow. The more he looked at the pictures of you and Shino the more pissed off he got.

He set his phone down and stared at the ceiling. He just couldn't stop thinking who said you were allowed to date anyone else?

Sure, he was aware of how wrong it was. Of how it was hypocritical. He knew he didn't have control over you anymore and that-... that pissed him off. All the other people he's dated have wanted "mutual control" and "understanding".

You never asked for that. You wanted to only do what he wanted to do. You wanted to please him. All you really wanted for for him to say "I love you".

You were different. In a sick, sad, toxic way you were different. He wanted that again.

And he had a plan to do just that.

He picked his phone back up and quickly messaged his current girlfriend.

"For the field trip room with Myu."

Avyan immediately messaged back saying "What? Why!? I wanted to room with you though !! <3"

He rolled his eyes. "I have other plans just fucking do it."

Avyan seemed to hesitate for a moment before responding with "fine! But at least let us ~you know what~ there!"

Akio wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Sure, whatever."he said. Honestly the minute he began dating her he was bored. She almost always wanted to get her way and also bargained if she couldn't. It annoyed him.

She was annoying.

But he smirked. He had the perfect plan to fix everything he had lost and break all the things he didn't want.

If anyone is going to get their way- it would be him.

You hopped off the bus and looked around. The fieldtrip had only just begun and after a long bus ride up the mountains you were finally there. You only had a big bag that could sling over your shoulder because you wouldn't stay long and you didn't want to lug a lot of stuff around.

It was a nice little area surrounded by trees and nature. Your teacher told you all it was a semi-traditional kind of inn and is offering a feast for the first and last night.

You were super excited for that as you were practically starving.

"Ok class- choose your partners and stand next to them. Once you choose you can't change so pick wisely." Mumbled the teacher.

Avyan already swooped up Myu so you looked over at Shino instead. He glanced at you and the two of you smiled at eachother. You were about to head over to him when another guy came up to him and linked arms with him, practically dragging him away.

Shino looked surprised then looked at you with a concerned look.

You mouthed to him "that's ok." And then looked around to find a new partner. You sighed..everyone else had already chosen someone.

You kept scanning around then locked eyes on Akio. Your heart skipped a beat for a moment. He didn't have a partner either.

You looked for other options but saw none. You breathed out a sigh, trying not tremble as you made your way over to him.

"A-Akio?" You said in a small voice.

He glanced at you.

"D-Do you have a partner? Uh— sorry to ask but both my first picks were stolen you know!" You said, awkwardly laughing.

He tilted his head and gave you a small smile. "I don't. I guess that makes us roommates." He said.

You gulped. Why was he so cute?! "Y-yeah..." you mumbled, glancing away from him with a small blush.

You looked over at Myu who was currently being hugged on by Avyan. Myu looked at you then at Akio. A pissed off look crossed her face.

"Teacher sir can we change our partners?" She asked.

The teacher gave her a look. "Nope. You stick with what you got. I already wrote down who's rooming with who so..." he mumbled, clicking his pen.

Myu glared.

You tilted your head. You wondered why she was so worried. Sure Akio was a boy and your ex but he was still pretty kind. Right?

Your eyes shifted to look at Akio. You didn't know why but you felt as is something was going to happen. His aura just felt off.

It was silent most of the time between the two of you. The teacher said you guys had an hour until the feast so to just go to your rooms and relax. You were currently digging through your bag looking for something to eat because you were absolutely starving and Akio was sitting on his bed looking at his phone.

You were lucky enough that the room had two beds. Thank god- that would've only added another layer of awkward!

You didn't notice Akio glancing at you from time to time. He glanced at the clock. Only a half hour to go. He looked back at his phone. He opened the chat to text Avyan.

"How about you come over now. (Y/n) left ."

He turned to look at you again. Then stood up.

"Hey, (Y/n)." He said.

You turned around and saw him standing. "What?" You asked.

He came really close to you. You tensed up and looked up at him. "What are-!?"

His hands moved to your waist and threw you on the bed. You yelped and before you could process what was going on Akio crawled on top of you and pinned your hands to the side of your head.

"A-Akio!" You exclaimed slightly trembling.

He tilted his head. "What (y/n)?"he asked, suddenly rocking his hips against yours. "Feeling shy?"

Your face turned bright red. What was he doing!? Out of nowhere?? Your heart wasn't ready for this!!! You turned your head to the side to look away from him.

"Y-y-you have a girlfriend!!" You stated

He leaned in close to your face. "Not for long~." He cooed. He let go of your wrist with one hand and tilted your face towards his.
