《Mages and Wizards》16. Yule ball

Natsu and gray both sweat dropped. They knew that their meals weren't that good - actually, they knew it sucked. They were too scared to meet Miras devious glare, that all they could do was stare at the ground.
Mira sighed a bit and returned to her usual form. Natsu and gray looked up when they saw that she turned back to normal and had a little bit of hope that she would let them off the hook. She had her usual cheerful look on her face and gave the two a closed eye smile. The two sighed, hoping that they would be able to get back to their usual outfits and out of the dresses.
Mira stopped her smile and opened her eyes to glare at them. "I'm letting you off the hook this time," the both of them had their spirits risen a little bit at that statement. "But you have to keep the dresses on for the rest of the day." The two frowned a little bit, but the smiled slightly again.
"Guys, Dumbledore wants to see all of us again." Levy said barging in out of no where. The entire school - including Beauxbatons and Durmstrang - were present to see what the announcement was. "To celebrate completing the first task, we will be having a ball; the Yule ball, to be exact."
Mumbles were heard all around. Most of them were just wondering what a 'yule ball' was.
"I believe I should elaborate," everyone immediately shut up. "The Yule Ball is a tradition of the Triwizard Tournament. It is a formal dance held on the evening of Yule (the pagan Winter solestice/Christmas celebration) of a tournament year, and is opened by the tournament champions and their partners."
Everyone understood it better (except for the dim witted dragon slayer) and Mira was deciding ships.

A couple days later, about a week before the Yule ball, Mira was setting up supposedly 'perfect' meetings fro all of her ships that she was determined to make into actual relationships.
"Done," mira stood in front of her brilliance. There was one single working street lamp that shone directly onto the ground, making it look like a spotlight. She set up some romantic (ish) music in the background, subtly making the mood a bit more romantic.
She also added some background; a screen, sort of, that showed a park in the dead of night that spread around at least a couple hundred meters. She amplified the effects of everything with magic.
To top it all off, Mira thought that one scenario wasn't enough, she just had to create not one, but two.
The second one she made was a secluded brown, wooden table, made for two. Covered in a crimson red cloth that aligned perfectly on the sides with chairs and the other two sides of the rectangular table came halfway down. They were shaped in a 'v' shape, all of the cloth embroidered with a sparkly, gold ribbon, that at the same time of being sparkly, it was also dulled.
On the table laid a set of pure white plates, cutlery and napkins. The plates had a streak, swirled on the edges, barley noticeable. The forks and spoons had the top half of a heart on the edge of the pure white, metallic cutlery. The half heart was doubled into two, one half on the inside, smaller, while the same half but bigger on the top. The knives were normal, except for the fact that the handle felt like silk, it was smooth and soft (somehow) even though everything was metal.
There were candles of all sizes surrounding the table, scented, to make the aroma more alluring. There was one large candle and one medium (ish) size candle in the center of the table. Surrounding them were different types of flowers - mostly red roses - placed to make everything look angled. There were some different fake fruits that blended in with the mood. Of course, it just had to be enhanced with magic.

Really, all she did was watch a couple of cheesy movies from this world and take some scenes from them.
Mira was determined to make her ships sail. No matter what stands in her way, she would make sure they became cannon.

[Author: This is the first story I have ever written so have mercy on me. Bear with me please if I make any mistakes. I welcome all sorts of criticism as it will help me improve. Hope you guys like it.] PS: This story will contain explicit sexual content and profanities. The Mc is not a good guy in this story so don’t expect a nice Mc who will help others regardless of his well-being. P.P.S: The cover image is not owned by me. I used Adobe Spark to combine and edit some free images. P.P.P.S: Also posting on Webnovel, Moonquill, Wattpad, and Scribblehub. Edit: I thought I should add this in here because it seems to be a problem for many people--My inspirations came from mainly chinese webnovels, so my writing style resembled that a lot at start. I just wanted to leave a note here for people who don't like such stuff. I've already improved a lot and changed my style in recent chs, so hope you guys give it a try before dropping prematurely if that's your reason. Furthermore, I will also be editing all the early chs in the near future to make the quality similar to the recent chs. Current Schedule: 1 ch / week [On Saturdays]. [Will be increasing the release rate once I'm comfortable with this speed].

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter. This story isn't a full length novel--its a novella length work (25K words), and is part of my Yancy Lazarus series. Its already free on Amazon, so I thought I'd post chapters here for the good folks of Royal Road. If you don't want to wait for updates or would prefer to read it on Kindle, you can pick it up for free here: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B01066TLC0
