《Bastion Of Heroes》Chapter 12

Seth felt himself being forcefully dragged away from the arena. As he was still trying to recover from the sudden brightness, he was caught completely unaware. All he could do was grip the hand that held his shirt and try to free himself in midair. The hand that grabbed his shirt was covered in a leather glove and was not releasing him, no matter what he did.
Seth had even imbue chi into his punches. What had sent King Kong flying had no effect on his kidnapper. The person didn’t show any signs of being hit and just kept moving.
“Good try, but save your energy,” the culprit said over the whistling of the wind as he moved by jumping from one building to the next. After jumping pass several buildings, the tiger mask person threw Seth onto a empty roof.
Seth landed on his feet and took some distance from the tiger mask stranger. He crouched low, prepared for whatever the person responsible for their current location. Seth took in everything at once. They were quite a distance away from where the Rooftop Challenge took place, and their current roof was empty. This meant that there was no one he could ask for help.
Light from the moon illuminated the roof. While still dark, it was enough for Seth to follow the movements of his kidnapper.
“Don’t try escaping. You look like a smart boy, or at least that what it seems like from the way you fight. The only way you’re getting out of here is if I let you,” stated the Tiger masked stranger.
“Who are you? Why did you bring me here?” asked Seth.
“Who I am isn’t important, but I suppose if you must call me something, then Mr... White would do. Now for the second question. Why have I bought you here? Let just say that after observing your fight with King Kong, I am very interested in those techniques you employed and wish to personally experience them myself. Needless to say, your participation in this matter is mandatory. “

“Why didn’t you grab King Kong then? He’s the reigning champion? I’m a newcomer to the Rooftop Challenge, King Kong would have been the better choice if you wish to personally test skilled fighters? If you asked, I'm sure he wouldn’t turn you down.”
“I watched King Kong fight and I wasn’t impressed. His fights are... flashy, but I didn’t see anything impressive. He has a standard awakened strengthening ability and is quite good at using it. Otherwise, he would not have become champion, but that’s all. You on the other hand, fought him to a standstill with just skills alone. I don’t recognize that style of fighting and I have seen quite a bit. “
Seth deliberated his options. His first instinct was to run away, but as Mr. White had stated, retreating would be difficult. His instincts told him the man standing in front of him was strong, and the words he spoke were all the truth. If Seth tried to escape, Mr. White would come down on him, hard. HIs only option was to go along with the man’s word and hope that he would make it through the night.
As Seth observed Mr. White, he realized something was off. It was the mask Mr. White was wearing, or rather the one he wasn’t wearing.
“That’s not a mask, is it?” Seth asks for confirmation. “That’s your actual face, isn’t it? You’re a demi-human?”
Demi-humans were Awaken with animal features. They share the same characteristics of the animal they awaken to. Some people could transform into the animal themselves, while others could only partially transform. Mr. White was in a current state of partial transformation. What Seth thought had been a white tiger mask had been the actual face all along.
This only seem to make things worse. If Mr. White’s abilities were related to a tiger, then that would explain why Seth had such a hard time escaping his grip earlier. Tigers were one of the top animals of the food chain. They were deadly predators and powerful animals.

“Like I said, smart boy,” said Mr. White. “Sadly, there are no prizes for you here. Now do I need to force you to fight, or will you do that yourself? Or you can try to escape? We can play the game of cat and mouse, but you won’t get very far. Either way I'm curious on what you will do.”
As Seth was thinking about choices, he noticed a figure bounded their way. Compared to Mr. White, this person’s movement was slower and much more rough. Their arrival generated a large impact sound on landing with cracks appearing on the landing spot. The mysterious arrival was wearing a gorilla mask.
“I don’t know who the hell you think you are, but no one decks me and get away with it!” yelled King Kong and then moved on to punch Mr. White in the face.

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun. Fermboi was a man of one ideal: make the weak strong. When his rebellion against the king proved futile, he was given another chance at life. This time, he sought to do nothing after realizing the hopelessness of it all. Aventina wanted to do nothing more than to follow her father’s footsteps. On a retaliation raid against her tribe’s enemies, her brothers perished. Spared by a leader of her enemies, she returned home to find herself the chief of her tribe. Bolahulag, half-civilized and half-barbarian, half-lowborn and half-royal. Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
