《Bastion Of Heroes》Chapter 13

At least, King Kong attempted to punch Mr. White.
Mr. White grabbed King Kong’s fist and punch King Kong in the stomach instead. The force of the punch bought King Kong sprawling next to Seth, gasping for air. Mr. White looked at King Kong’s heaving figure and then looked at the fist that he used to punch.
“Strange. You should have been knocked out from the first blow all the way back then. To come rushing over and suffer another blow, are you a fool for punishment?” ask Mr. White.
Still unsteady on his feet, King Kong got up and yelled ”I don’t care who the hell you are, but this punk here, (pointing at Seth)didn’t finish his fight with me(points to himself). I don’t care how strong you think you are, but I'll beat you up first for cutting in line and then I'll beat his ass next.”
Seth could only stare at King Kong, amazed at his way of thinking. He was an unlikely ally, but Seth was already grateful. Afterall, he had not expected anyone enough to come to help him.
“... Fine, it won’t make much of a difference if it’s one of two people fighting me. Come!” replied Mr. White.
Immediately Seth felt his skin grow cold. Murderous intent was being released by Mr. White onto the two opposing figures. King Kong immediately tried to charge at the tiger Awaken, but Seth stopped him by grabbing his shoulder.
“What the fu*k do you think you’re doing? Just because I said I'll kick your ass later doesn’t mean you can grab me out of nowhere. I’ll beat you down now if you pull this crap again. ”
“ I’m stopping you from making another mistake. We need to work together to beat him.”

“Speak for yourself, I don’t need any help.” King Kong shrugged off the hand and was about to charge again
Was King Kong really this arrogant? Didn't he feel the killing intent being released by Mr. White?
“Do you not feel it? The air growing heavy, your skin crawling?” Seth ask.
“Pshh, that’s just your imagination making excuses for you not to fight him. That’s the feeling of excitement of a good fight. You wanna run? Go ahead. I can take care of this guy myself. Oh, actually go wait in a corner or something. We need to finish our fight and I don’t want you running away.”
King Kong was just ignorant, which Seth couldn’t tell if that was any better. Finishing their previous bout was the last thing on Seth’s mind. If he could, he would have run away a long time ago. He had to convince King Kong to help him.
“He beat you twice already and you still think you can beat him?”
“The first one was a surprise. That was cowardly, it doesn’t count. The second hit was because I was still winded from chasing you guys here. This time gonna be different.”
“Don’t lie to yourself. The first blow may have been by surprise, but the second blow was enough to leave you a mess.”
“...” The comment caused King to pause. His bravado faltering in front of the truth. “Why is this guy after you in the first place?”
“I don’t know! I wasn’t expecting to fight a monster like him tonight. I don’t think it really matters right now. He’ll kill us both, unless we give him what he wants.”
Seth watched King Kong as he could see King Kong’s inner ego conflicting with actual logic. Logic must have won because King Kong said “Fine, you got a plan?”

“Not really. You go ahead and try to make an opening. I’ll try to finish him in one strike, or at least seriously injure him.”
“Good enough! Let’s do this! Boost!” King Kong ran at full speed Mr. White with his fist raised. HIs right fist flew directly at Mr. White's face, in which Mr. White effortlessly swatted away like it was a fly. That didn’t stop King Kong from immediately punching with his left hand in return, which also failed to connect. Seth observed and waited for his chance however, no matter what King Kong did, it was easily blocked or redirected easily.
“Pointless. Unlike the boy over there, I’ve seen everything you have to offer. Doubling your strength is the most you can do,” Mr. White said fending off a blow.
King Kong backed off a few feet and mutter in a low voice to Seth.” I’m about to give you your opening. Don’t miss.” Then he yelled and dove with both arms open at the tiger man.
“Let see you take this!” The face of Mr. White was one of disappointment and boredom, or at far as one can tell on a tiger’s face. Faces of the cat family weren’t very expressive. However, that changed with one word shouted by King Kong.
“Boost!”
Mr. White eyes widen in surprise as King Kong speed doubled once again. King Kong was able to successfully grab both arms of Mr. White, restricting the both of them from moving. When Mr. White attempted to move his arms out of the death grip of King Kong, the monkey mask wearing man only had one thing to say.
“Boost!”
Seth didn’t wait a second longer as to capitalize this moment. He transfer his chi to his feet to kick off the ground and instantly move behind the tiger Awaken. He whipped out a pocket knife from his pocket that he kept in reserve for emergencies. If this didn’t count as an emergency, then what did?
Faster then an eye could blink, he infused the knife with chi to make it sharper and stronger as he slashed the knife at the eyes of the tiger awakened. If he couldn’t kill him in one blow then the least he could do was injure him in a fatalistic manner that would increase their odds of getting out of their alive.
Unfortunately, things rarely ever go as planned. Seth stared in disbelief at Mr. White. Seth’s arm was stopped at mid swing, his knife caught in between the tiger man's teeth.

The Lady's Handbook of Intrigue and Murder (High Fantasy Politics)
Summary:The daughter of a dying house is summoned to the Imperial City to meet and perhaps marry a handsome prince. It sounds like a fairy tale. Except Mydea doesn’t have the advantage of a half-forgotten childhood encounter, supreme magic to match the highest echelons of society, or even the privilege of an ally. In order to survive and make a name for herself, she must beat the Imperial Court at its own game. At least no one's tried to kill her—yet. Notes: Basically, if you liked the magic of Harry Potter and the politics of Game of Thrones, you'll probably like this. While the first book focuses on the female lead, and the interplay of competing regional and imperial interests, subsequent books will also cover warfare and how I imagine that differs wildly from historical norms with the introductions of a magical aristocracy.
