《The Celestial Venture》Chapter 5 - Earth Exploring

As Kree took the blue skinned alien's hand and shook it, Twy'la seemed reluctant to do the same, instead moving to slightly hide behind Kree's wing. The big guy didn't seem to mind as he lowered his hands and looked over the two "I'm Jarvell. Living here for the last fifteen years. Not a lot of folks come over to this dump of a planet. And if you don't mind me saying, your ship looks like it went through a hell system or something of the sort." he said, looking over it.
"Nice to meet you!" Kree said, before looking at the Tin-Can "Yeah, it's old, wonky, and been through at least 14 different system jumps. So it's definitely been under a lot of pressure. But it still keeps going, so I try to keep it in the best shape it can be."
"Hoo, so you've travelled quite a distance. You wouldn't happen to be from an outer arm system would you?" Jarvell asked, before his gaze turned towards the ship "Did you leave something behind on your ship? I think it's leaking."
"Leaking? It shouldn't be leaking," Kree started to look all around the bottom of the ship before spotting the leak was coming from the hatch, and it was pink. She took a moment to think on what would be pink in her ship, before her eyes widened "Oh no." she quickly went back and opened the hatch, which struggled some due to the stickiness that was the squashed Gelac.
Jarvell looked with curiousity at Kree, who was trying to make sure the Gelac was fine, before glancing at Twy'la "Neither of you actually introduced yourselves yet. Don't know where either are from, but in my planet, we at least do that. Though then we'd normally start bashing each other's heads in." He said, shaking his head at the thought.
Twy'la could feel her nerves grow as the big blue guy talked directly to her "Erm, I'm a Kly'ta, from Europa. In this system. One of Jupiter's moons. My name is Twy'la."
"Sorry, I couldn't quite get any of that. You need to speak up."
Twy'la's gaze moved to her feet "I'm Twy'la, a Kly'ta from Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. From this system."
"Eh? I still couldn't really hear you. You're Fly'ra from Homura?"
"I said I'm Twy'la, a Kly'ta from Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, which is in this system! You Fre'qa!"
The sudden outburst of Twy'la only made Jarvell start to laugh. He didn't seem to mind the angry glares from Twy'la as he calmed himself, before nodding "Sorry, I actually heard you the first time. But being that quiet will get you stomped over by just about everyone in here. Need to make yourself loud and clear if you want anyone to take you seriously, alright?"
Still giving Jarvell angry glares, Twy'la didn't give any indications of accepting what he said, her arms folded "You're a Fre'qa!"
"I have no idea what that means. Ah, and our winged friend returns. Found the leak?" Jarvell turned his attention away from Twy'la with a smile.
Kree nodded as she held the small pink blob in her arms "Yeah, I did. It was this little guy. Keeps getting itself stuck where it shouldn't be in. And while I was told its acidic, it's proven to be sticky than acidic so far." She glanced down at the Gelac, who just returned an innocent look back.

Stepping closer and looking over it, Jarvell raised an eyebrow "Reminds me a bit of one of Earth's snacks. A type of gelatin that is rather sticky, usually pink, and you can chew it. But I can't remember what it was called," He scratched his head, before shrugging and looking at Kree "You still didn't introduce yourself, by the way."
"Oh! Right!" Kree pushed the Gelac into Twy'la's arms, before doing the circle with her fist "I'm Kree'aria of Re'eva. And I don't know if my system is in the outer arm. I don't know much about the actual galaxy map, I've been mostly been following rumours from one system to the next."
"Kree'aria? Bit of a mouthful," Jarvell said, gesturing for the two to start following him "I'll just call you Kree. Anyway, what made you come here?"
"Kree works, sure. Well, I came here to both get fuel for my ship, and to try and see if there are any rumours about any celestial beings, like maybe a dragon," Kree said, before pointing at Twy'la "Twy'la is now looking for a new home, but she could probably tell you better what she might be looking for."
"Erm, Kree'aria, maybe take this Gelac off me?"
Turning to Twy'la, Kree noticed how the Gelac seemed to stick to Twy'la's hands, and was trying to escape to the floor, while Twy'la was trying to get herself free from it. After a bit of effort from Kree, and some chuckles from Jarvell, Twy'la managed to get herself loose, while the Gelac managed to start relaxing in Kree's arms.
"Thank you. And yes, I'm looking for a new home, not that it was any of his business," Twy'la said, offering an annoyed look to Kree "If you could just tell me about possible planets, I could probably figure out which is a suitable one for me."
Jarvell nodded as they resumed their walk into the city "Well, I can suggest a couple I've been to, but there are a few relocation guides. And Water Hole isn't too bad either. As for any celestial beings, I'm no expert about those type of things. You could probably find more records in the local library. Though to gain access, you need to share a story or myth from your own culture."
"I see. And I guess to get the fuel is like most places, trading items for their value and get to trade here?" Kree asked.
"Yes, that's right. You've been on other planets with multiple alien cultures then?"
"Yeah! Even seen a planet run by these jellyfish type of aliens, they kept swaying in the spot, it was really enchanting."
"Ohh, Trabells! We had a few visitors of their kind over the years. Really have unique bodies. They can never stay for too long, the atmosphere pressure of being this deep down doesn't agree with them."
"Remind me to show you their pictures Twy'la, they are probably one of the more fascinating aliens to encounter. Twy'la?"
Stopping, Kree and Jarvell glanced around, only to find that Twy'la had stopped by the entrance to a human-influenced bakery. Both approached her, before Jarvell entered the bakery "Wait here you two. My treat."
Twy'la just quietly nodded as her eyes were still fixed on the variety of baked goods.
"I'm guessing you haven't eaten anything on the ship huh? I figured the compartment that has written 'food' on it would be obvious enough to spot," Kree said, as she just looked over the displays "And between the smells and looks, I reckon those are probably pretty good."

"They smell amazing. And look amazing. Better then anything back home," Twy'la said softly "We only ever had two things as choices. Watery dust, and bug meat. Neither are very appealing, but they are filling. That's all the Kly'ta really care about."
"You're really doing a horrible job selling your people, you know that?" Kree said, raising an eyebrow, as she also started to softly move a finger through the Gelac.
"I rather be truthful then decieve others into accepting us." the Angel said, watching as Jarvell came out with three small bags, each smelling good.
As Jarvell handed them a bag each, Kree opened hers and looked inside, before taking a bite. Twy'la, in the meanwhile, wasn't as gentle, just starting to enjoy it, taking a few bites together, and appearing to have just been thrown in a flavoury heaven.
"These are muffins. Figured I'd let you both try the simple variant before you try anything else, in case you didn't like the texture or something. Whaddaya think?" Jarvell asked.
Twy'la was quick to nod her head, clearly enjoying it, while Kree shrugged a bit "It's alright. Then again, I'm not exactly big on food overall."
Jarvell nodded "Not everyone is. Though this planet is pretty big on food of numerous types. But the species also requires a lot of sustance to properly maintain itself," He said with a shrug "Oh, and the shopkeep reminded me of what that human snack was called. It's called bubblegum. Pink, chewy, sticky, and you can apparently blow it into bubbles too."
Kree glanced at the Gelac "Bubblegum, huh. I don't know if you're chewy, but you are basically a bubble, pink and sticky. Maybe I should just call you Gum?"
"You're going to call a Gelac after a food? That's weird. It'd be like calling someone muffin." Twy'la said, as she took another bite.
"Some humans actually do that. Call people after certain foods in a compassionate manner. Like pudding, which is a type of dessert." Jarvell said.
"Well, I like it. You are hereby called Gum!" Kree raised the Gelac to properly face her, and it just blinked twice "I just hope you can understand it is your name." she said as Gum was lowered again, and glanced at Twy'la, who simply shrugged.
Jarvell chuckled, having finished his own muffin, and pocketed the bag "So we have three destinations. Fuel, library, and relocation. Let's start with getting you some local currency. Hope you have some trade goods."
Kree nodded, as both her and Twy'la started to follow him once more, walking deeper into the city.
The city itself felt like a rather metropolitan city. A lot of buildings, though only a few distant ones reached rather high. Most of the buildings seemed different from one another, as if built from materials from numerous different planets, and by many different cultures. There were some alleyways here and there, but it seemed like most businesses were laid out in the open, main streets. The aliens present were also a mix of numerous different races, and it seemed there were even a few humans in the mix.
"Jarvell?" Twy'la suddenly called to him as they approached the currency conversion.
"Yes?"
"What made you come to greet us in the ship? I honestly didn't expect anything like that."
"Do you not greet strangers back in your home planet?"
"I mean, it was my job to do so, not that I got to do it much."
"Well, here we exchange that role. Every month, we switch who greets the newcomers and visitors. This month is my charge, though it is scheduled to switch tomorrow." Jarvell said.
Twy'la lowered her chin and hid her mouth behind her collar "Switching the role." she muttered, seemingly becoming lost in her own mind.
"Anyway, we're here," Jarvell said "Clerk is actually a human, named Jared. He's a good lad, as long as you don't cause trouble. I'll wait out here with Twinkle until you got a bit of cash on hand."
Kree nodded, handing Gum to Twy'la, and entered the store. Jared, the clerk, was kind, but also ran a rather rough bargain about the value of what Kree had to exchange, as it changed depending on how needed the items were. Once she was done, and had some cash on hand, she went back outside to see Jarvell, amused at Gum's attempts to escape Twy'la's grasp, while the Kly'ta was still lost in thought.
"Alright Gum, let me rescue you." Kree said, amused, while taking Gum from Twy'la's arms, who only then seemed to snap back and look at Kree.
"Oi! Don't use me as a hold for the Gelac!" Twy'la snapped at Kree, before starting to check if she had any of gum's remnants on her.
Both Kree and Jarvell laughed, while Gum became more comfy in Kree's arms. The group then started to follow Jarvell's lead once more, taking about ten minutes before arriving in front of a big, spherical building.
"Right, this is the library. It's run in shifts by a trio of shapeshifting aliens, so its always hard to tell who is who. And they all run the library with strict rules," Jarvell said, before glancing at Gum "And I reckon that little guy won't be allowed inside. Pets aren't allowed overall if they cannot show they are capable of communicating an comprehending what is said to them. And remember, a story or myth in exchange for entry."
Looking at Gum, Kree offered an apologetic expression, before turning her gaze to Twy'la, who raised an eyebrow at Kree.
"Can you look after him?" Kree asked.
"Doubtful. It doesn't want to be with me as much as I don't want to be with it."
Jarvell offered his open hands "I could look after Gum. And in the meanwhile, we'll also go look for people Twilght could talk to about other planets to live at."
"It's Twy'la, not Twilight! Fre'qa!"
Kree nodded as she handed Gum to Jarvell. Gum seemed to agree moving to Jarvell's hands, though didn't become as comfy as it did with Kree.
"Let's say we meet back out here in a couple of hours?" Kree asked. Both Jarvell and Twy'la nodded, but before they started heading away, Twy'la moved closer to Kree.
"If we're not back by then, hunt Jarvell down for me."
Kree smiled and nodded, before entering the library.

The Girl Named Rino
Oh. Hello. I didn't see you come in. No, don't worry. I don't need to hear your name. I already know what it is. I also knew that you'd come up at around this time. But, at the same time, I also didn't know. It's very hard to put into words - but that's what happens when you become the Chaos God. Your psyche gets messed up, big time. That's even more so for me, who was already warped enough to confuse reality with imagination - and, even make the rest of the universe believe that it was so. But, enough about me. Let's talk about you. You seem to come from a very far away land. It's faint, but your presence is there - in a relatively primitive planet. No wonder, no one wanted to stay in, or conquer your region of the universe - there's nothing worth controlling there. Your existence, much like your entire solar system, also seems to be pretty insignificant. Tell me, is your race capable of destroying your own world? Oh, you're already well along the way? Global Warming? Pollution? Overpopulation? Nuclear weapons? Wow... it's been many millenia since I'd last heard of such ancient concepts from someone who is actually living through it. Still, good job getting that far. That means that your world is now, at least, worth considering as a possible place to install a World System. If I find the time, I'll try surveying it. You can just thank me, later. Oh wait! What kind of person am I, not even offering my guest any hospitality. I'm ashamed. Please, take a seat. What would you like? I have everything the multiverse has to offer, whatever it is you want - I can get. Ah! After we talk, would you mind, if I asked you to do me a tiny favor? There's this girl, I want to keep tabs on. She's in one of the Worlds that I preside over, it's called Aiarthe. But, for some reason, I can't see her - not directly, at least. All I need you to do, is check up on her from time to time. Whether you do it as a pure spectator or through someone else's eyes, is entirely up to you. Really!? You would!? Wow! Thanks! You really did me, a huge solid there! For agreeing so quickly, how about I get started on surveying that planet of yours, right now!? You can help yourself, to anything in the fridge! Well, see ya!
