《The Celestial Venture》Chapter 4 - Prelude to Earth

As time passed, Twy'la felt herself losing track of it. She laid on one of the bunk beds, and since Kree seemed to care for that Gelac, and the Gelac clearly didn't like her, then why should she care about either of those. She'll get a ride to where ever their destination was, and then find another ship, or perhaps settle there. She just hoped the planet had more welcoming people then what she had seen so far.

"Twy'la! You might want to come see this!" Kree's voice came from the cockpit.

Sitting up, she glanced in the direction and pondered for a moment if she really wanted to oblige. Then again, Kree didn't have to take her into her ship at all, the least she could be is a bit courteous. So she got up and walked to the cockpit.

She was about to ask what Kree wanted to show her, but she immediately came upon the sight that was visible from the porthole. Her mouth slightly opened in awe as she saw a pair of planets, both getting stroked by sunlight, and appearing rather enchanting. The closer one, which was seemingly the one they were flying towards, was very blue with what seemed like bits of green and white.

"Not every day you get to see a sight like that, right?" Kree asked, watching with a smile as Twy'la sat down and simply nodded in silence, still taking in the view "Well, you seemed a bit dejected before so I thought I'd call you when there was something nicer to see then a bunch of space rocks, or distant planets."

Shifting her gaze to Kree, the Angel noticed the Gelac was now sleeping on her lap "That's kind of you, but I'm fine. I Just need time to still adjust to my new status," she said, and looked back at the planet they were heading to "Is that our destination?"

"Mhm. A planet called 'Earth' by it's population, which is apparently dirt. The dominant species is called homo-sapiens, or humans, and from a device I found earlier, they still haven't met any aliens. So we'd probably need to be on the quieter side, unless we want to cause a full planet panic." Kree said, looking at the planet.

Listening, Twy'la raised her right hand, and let the pink energy flow around her arm, until it concentrated on the palm, before forming a sphere. A miniature, pink Earth now rested there.

"Well, this is the best I can offer. Basically a world map. I can make it bigger, but I can't show populations or anything of that sort." Twy'la said, her gaze fixed on the pink sphere.

Leaning closer to it, Kree started to slightly squash the Gelac, which woke it up, and made it jump directly into Twy'la lap. The Angel and Gelac looked at each for a moment, before both panicked, the Gelac jumping onto Kree's head, while Twy'la fell out of the chair, causing the pink sphere to vanish in the process.

"Hey! Not on the hair!" Kree immediately objected, and grabbed the Gelac, putting it on the floor instead, before looking at Twy'la "You okay?"

Grunting, Twy'la stood up, dusting herself off a bit, before sitting back in the chair "I'm fine. Just not used to being so close to a Gelac of all things. Anyway, where was I." she concentrated on her Cosmos yet again, forming the pink miniature Earth once more, and then looked at it "We could try and find somewhere that appears secluded?"

"Maybe. I'm not sure if that will work though, as we do need fuel. And not every type of fuel will work either. But they somehow launched that device into space, so there has to be fitting fuel." Kree explained "Not to mention that in a secluded place we'd stand out more."

Twy'la lowered her head and seemed to ponder on something, when the ship's VI started to beep, and Kree immediately went to see what the VI detected. Twy'la just sat there, feeling useless as she watched the winged person become silent and concentrated. She just sat there in silence for a bit, until Kree glanced in her direction.

"Sorry, it seems like the ship managed to find a more up to date source of information about Earth. Since we've gotten into closer proximity, we connected to what is apparently called a satellite, and those transmit information across the world, through outerspace. The one I found in the asteroid field seemingly had stored some information before getting knocked away from Earth." she explained, and moved some data to the screens in front of Twy'la.

While the ship was translating the mass quantities of intel for Kree, Twy'la had already begun reading them "According to the most recent pieces of intel, it is currently the year 2035. They have a lot of news about basically every topic out there. Feels redundant." she said, glancing at Kree.

"You can read their language?" Kree asked raising her eyebrows.

"Part of my Galactic Cosmos is understanding alien languages, and seems like its both vocal and written." Twy'la said.

"Your Cosmos can make space travel a lot easier, you know? Really useful tool right there."

Twy'la blushed a bit "I suppose."

The two of them kept going through the mass quantities of information downloaded, with Kree slowly narrowing the search, until they had less articles to go over, but still enough about what they needed to know. Twy'la was reading about Earth and aliens, while Kree was reading about rocket fuel.

"So it seems like there were always rumours of aliens being on Earth, but never any concrete evidence. So maybe there are others there, and we just need to find where?" Twy'la suggested, glancing over at Kree.

Finishing reading another article, Kree closed it before shrugging "I guess it's possible. Different planets can make for brilliant hiding spots, especially ones with a still evolving species. They only got as far as being able to send steady manned rockets to the next planet over, Mars. So it could be. Here, help me out." Kree stood up, went to Twy'la, before turning her chair to a different set of smaller screens, and put a pair of headphones on Twy'la.

"W-what is this? And these are incredibly uncomfortable!" Twy'la seemed surprised and irritated by the sudden actions.

Kree kneeled next to her and started to point at the radio dials "This is an inter-galactic radio. Any messages left for others to find will be heard through this. Although more advanced radios can automatically track signals, this tin-can has a basic radio. So all you need to do is turn this dial slowly, and if you hear any messages, stop, listen, and write them down." She explained the best she could, before also pushing a notepad and pen to Twy'la.

"And what will you be doing that I need to attend to this?" Twy'la asked, while looking over the radio and the dial she was meant to turn.

"I'll be trying to see on the sensors if any hints for aliens being on the planet were perhaps left. That takes a bit more then just turning a dial, so you got the easy part." Kree explained, before going back to her own seat, and beginning her work with the sensor.

The next hour passed, and both were quiet for the most part. Kree could hear a bit of humming from Twy'la, and some scribbling down, but there was no indication of anything being spotted from either of them.

"I have something!"

Twy'la sudden call nearly caused Kree to jump in her seat, as she turned to the Angel, got up and walked to her "What is it?"

Handing the headphones to Kree, Twy'la started going over what she had written down. It didn't made much sense to her, so she waited for Kree to listen and give her input.

The message was repeated in a few different alien langauges, none of which Kree understood, so she lowered the headphones and looked at the notepad.

"Visitors to Earth, Head to 17.3158° N, 87.5347° W, under the dark of night. Dive in, and proceed through a hidden wall to the north, approximately 40 meters deep."

After reading the message, Kree turned her gaze to Twy'la "It just kept repeating. Different accents, but same message." She explained, watching as Kree grabbed the notepad and went have to her chair, starting to look up a couple of things on the computers.

"Uhm, did the message help?" Twy'la asked, looking a bit confused.

Kree nodded, before pointing at the screen, which now had a map of Earth on it "Well, I didn't hear the message like you, to me it was entirely foreign languages. But looks like there is a place, and it is underwater too according to the instructions. Just need to find the coordinates on the map."

Twy'la's gaze turned back to the radio and the put away headphones "Foreign to you. I should've guessed so. Wait," she turned back to Kree "Didn't your translator work?"

"Nope. Radio messes with that. If I try, I only hear static and vague voices," Kree briefly said, before managing to find the coordinates "There we go. Found the location on the map." she then inputed the coordinates onto the ship's systems, which seemed to manage to get a lock in as it slightly adjusted its course.

Looking out the window, Twy'la just fixed her gaze on the slowly approaching Earth "So, other aliens are there after all. I, uhm," she bit her lip as she could feel herself starting to become more anxious.

"I mean, even if they weren't, we would've probably still seen the humans native to the planet, and they're aliens to us. And you did fine meeting me." Kree said, spinning the chair to face Twy'la, before glancing at something behind her.

"I mean, I didn't like it back home, but I was in my comfort zone. This is all completely strange," Twy'la said, still sounding wary, before feeling something by her leg. Without looking, she just picked up the Gelac and put it on her lap "And even if I understand their words, I can't really understand their cultures just like that. That would be insane."

Turning to face Kree, she shrugged "So I don't know, I'm just scared." Twy'la said, before noticing the smile on Kree's expression, and feeling something start to turn in her lap. Looking down, she locked eyes with the Gelac again. The colour seemed to vanish from Twy'la face as the Gelac just took the biggest jump it could away from her, and accidentally getting stuck against the ceiling.

"Well, I'll definitely make sure you don't do things that will cause any reactions like that." Kree chuckled "And trust me, it comes with time. The Kly'ta weren't the first aliens I met, and as long as I'm on my journey, I reckon I'll meet plenty more."

Twy'la remained in shock at what she did for a few seconds longer, before managing to snap back and hear what Kree said "Your journey. You were looking for something like the Celestial Dragon, right?" she asked, looking back at her lap to make sure she wasn't wet from the Gelac.

Nodding, Kree leaned back in her seat "Yeah. From what I learned so far, my wings are unnatural to point my people claimed the stars themselves intervened and gave them to me. So, I'm trying to find out more about anything that could be connected to the stars." Hearing a beep, Kree's gaze turned back to the ship's controls, and the auto-pilot turned off as they approached Earth's atmosphere "Right, let me focus here. We only have about an hour to land in the coordinates before dawn rises on area." she stated, and she shifted her full attention to the task at hand.

After managing to pass through the atmosphere, the Tin-Can started to slow its speed, and the lights were turned off as so not to attract unwanted attention. Carefully, Kree piloted the ship, dodging several packs of flying birds along the way, before arriving at the coordinates, which appeared to be a rather large hole of water, surrounded by small islands. There weren't any naval vessels present, making it easier to just dive right into the water. Once under the water, a new stat of water depth was added, and Kree used that and the compass, until they reached the 40 meters mark, before having the ship fly forward, straight through the wall. Passing through, the water vanished, and a rather large space appeared, as they slowly descended, until they landed by a few other ships.

While Kree started to do the post-landing check ups, Twy'la stood up and looked out the window. The space they were in was very different from where they just went through. It looked like a rather big city that existed down there, and everyone above the surface were none the wiser. She spotted a person slowly approaching the ship, before vanishing underneath it. Turning to head out, she heard something leave the ceiling. Twy'la barely looked up, before the Gelac landed right on her face.

As Twy'la became frozen on the spot, Kree glanced over and started to laugh. Couple of seconds passed before she walked over and removed the Gelac from Twy'la, and put it down on the floor "Stay in the ship little guy. We don't know what the other aliens might think of you." she tried petting it again, only for her hand to go through it. The expression it gave off though suggested that it enjoyed it as much as a pet would enjoy a petting. Standing up, Kree looked at Twy'la "Ready to go?"

Twy'la remained frozen until Kree talked to her, at which point she slowly turned to look at the Gelac, giving it a death glare, which caused it to go hide in the back room. Shifting her attention to Kree, Twy'la nodded "As long as my face hasn't started to melt from the Gelac, I suppose so." she said, sounding very irritated.

The two went through the back room, where the Gelac was surprisingly nowhere to be found, before Kree retracted the ladder, and out the hatch they went. After both stepped off, they were greeted by the alien Twy'la had seen approach the ship before. He was much taller then Kree, standing at about 2.3m high, had 4 arms, blue skin and teal eyes. He offered a hand to shake to each of them, before taking a step aside.

"Welcome to Water Hole, aliens haven on Earth."
