《State of Flow》Chapter 14

Moving on to the last corner again zero concern in our group and Auspious speaks up. “Good shit with the mist Gloom, I'm pretty sure that helped significantly. Not sure why it worked but you wont hear any complaints from me so keep that up.” “Yea thanks man, truth be told I was not sure if it would do anything. Kind of a hail Mary on my part.” “Well it worked well, lets see what we got here.” He finished as we pulled up to the final corner. This time it looks like a proper garden with tubers and what not surrounded by a tall brick wall with a small gate. “Okay should we just all head in at once and force this one if the pattern holds the brunt of our team can completely handle these low tier enemies.” Drake suggested. “Sounds good to me, I am kind of getting tired of all the tense preparing for something to jump out, lets just get it over with.” Legos said “Sounds good to me.” and other such agreements were sounded out in favor before we walked up to the gate and pushed it open. Seeing as nothing jumped out yet we all enter the garden watching our footing to ensure we don't touch any of the plants prematurely as that seems to be the combat trigger. Once we were all assembled in formation I Flicked one of the plant stems and then we waited looking around to no fanfare. After a moment I bent over to flick again before a screech tears my eyes from the plant. Looking up I see a snake latched onto Drakes ear and since I am already looking up I also notice about a dozen more snakes gliding down from the walls surrounding us. “You have got to be fucking kidding me” Drake says with a solitary tear traveling down his face before May slashes the snake in twain and stancing up to receive the rest we manage to make short work once again. “This is kind of too easy don't yall think?” Legos asked suppressing a sigh before Drake smacked him upside the head. “You some kind of idiot tempting fate like that, if we get party wiped I am gonna do that to you till you flinch on command.” While the ladies bickered me and May go around and identify all the plants as well as the snakes we killed. Flying snake (uncommon) A somewhat rare snake that uses a small amount of wind magic in its scales to keep it aloft. Enchanted Beet (uncommon) A beet that has been infused with low levels of mana rendering its juices a very capable potion base. “Nothing fancy huh.” I say as May hands me the snakes in exchange for my beets. “So it seems, I hope some better loot from the rest.” She confessed with a sigh. “Yea I agree.” Afterwards we head on over to the rest of the group to regroup to head towards the center. After explaining the underwhelming loot we start heading off to the start finishing the square and finding ourselves where we began. “So the gate is not opened yet so we are probably going to get ambushed as we walk across this path so you all know the formation.” Drake said and we formed up to deal with the next potential threat. As we walked along about halfway to the gate we started to hear a scratchy sort of sound from the ground, we all hopped into formation but facing the budding threat. As we waited for it to surface our front liners prepared themselves and positioned they shield in the way of whatever was about to come out of the ground. After what felt like an hour of tense waiting but was more likely twenty seconds, something poked it head out from the ground and sniffed the air for a second before it pushed its way out of the ground fully. “A honey badger? That's our mid boss?” As if realizing it was being mocked a jolt runs through the badger before it begins growing, its final size was about hip height to us it snarled a moment bring us back into the fight before dashing straight at us. “Fuck he packs a punch” Drake spats as he tanks the hit on his shield. After which the badger kicks backwards before dashing around trying to circumvent our shield wall. It manages to get around the shields on my side and rushes, knowing that Auspious is right behind me I need ensure my dodge doesn't put him in danger. Gritting my teeth I throw both daggers aiming for its eyes before it merely turns its head so the daggers pass harmlessly along its fur, seeing as how that failed spectacularly I pull out the enchanted throwing knives this time I ham it up telegraphing my left hands throw very loudly so the badger avoids that and while its focused on my left hand I try and sneak a hit in with my right hand while its distracted. *Screech* I actually manage to slice its eye. It stares at me with hatred in its eyes after its aborted charge, giving May and Drake enough time to reposition themselves between me and the angry beast. Not to say Legos has been doing nothing because while I was trying to blind it, he was peppering its hind area with arrows managing to get four stuck inside it already. While our defense was getting into position the claws on the badger started to glow orange. “Oh shit special move, lets go” Drake shouts settling his feet to take the blow. An instant later the badger launches forward slashing into his shield before it slashes again, again, again, again, again, and again. The last slash being much more powerful launching Drake backwards on his ass and causing the badger to pause on the end of his swing. While Drake is slacking off the rest of us are already attacking before the badger gets a chance to recover from its move. May aims a punching using the pointed edge of her shield as a gauntlet, Legos has already fire half a dozen more arrows Auspious sent some healing energy towards Drake, and I am dashing over drake into the space he left behind to assault the badgers face again. Our combined force minus Drake who took the hit manage to fell the beast during its moment of recover thanks to us attacking in concert. Afterwards we all flop onto the ground tired. “I do not know why the rest of you are practically knocked out, I was the only one who got tossed around.” “Yea but we actually managed to hit it.” Legos says with a smirk in response to Drakes question. “Well hell lets get this thing put away so we can finish this damn dungeon I am ready for a nap already.” Thankfully the badger reverted to its original size after it died or else we might have trouble storing it. Of course I identify first to see if there was anything interesting. Dire badger (uncommon) A large badger that managed to increase its size even further using earth magic. At least its another magical creature. Either way I put away my interface and get ready because the exit gate just opened.

The Calculator - Supervillainess Time Loop
What makes a terrifying villain? Is it ruthlessness? Is it how powerful they are and how many buildings they can down in one blow? Is it how hard they are to kill, contain, or get rid of in any manner? Is it their knowledge of a hero’s true identity in a world where secrets must be kept? Or is it perhaps how they seem to be perfect in all their actions, defeating the hero at every step of the way throughout to the last one, only to humiliate them one last time before declaring themselves the winner in the grand scheme of things? Isabella Blair is perfect. She knows all your moves before you even make them. All your ambushes are faced with traps and she dodges all your blows like it’s child’s play. Catching her is impossible because she’s always ten steps ahead of you. She says she calculated everything, but she messes up in every fight. She loses far more than she wins, sometimes a hundred times for just one small victory. Yet, she is perfect. How is that possible, you may ask. That’s because she has the uncanny ability to return to the past whenever she makes a mistake. All that’s left in the end can only be what’s perfect if all the realities in which you’ve lost are gone, after all. And that makes for one hell of a terrifying profile. Crossposting on ScribbleHub, SpaceBattles, and Wattpad. Don't mind the "Pre-Rewrite" Volume. It is there for reference until the story catches up to the chapter count via the Rewrite (and to justify the current reviews as there would be no context to them otherwise). The Thaumatist Incident
The towers fell over a century ago, and the Good King united the land. Under his voice the Thaumatists took the knee or took the sword. The University still stands, but for how long? This story is broken up into two parts. Chronologically, the two parts overlap. Part One Emile, a girl with a Talent not seen since the good king's war as she tries to find help to save her beloved father from a cruel accident. Julie, raised in a small farming village on her quest to become someone people will sing about. Part Two Wendel, a recent graduate of the University, an intense school that functions first as a police force to control the use of magic and secondly as an educational institution. Demetrius, a servant at the school who loses his home and his safety. Edits are ongoing. Reviews and comments will only help the editing the process, and I am grateful for any and all input. So, if you have been reading already, Jericho has been removed. It's been brought to my attention that his chapters detract from the flow of the narrative. They still exist, and are still going to be made available at some point in some way shape or form, but for the time being what happens with him and the king in Puissant city will be off camera so to speak.
