Charlie did indeed flip out over Zenaida's motorbike. She knew there was a chance of it happening. She ended up spending the weekend trying to talk Charlie around on it. It didn't matter either way, she was still going to ride it, but she thought it better he at least accepted that this was what she wanted. She only managed to calm him down a little. He isn't happy about it, but accepts it, which is what she wanted. He doesn't want to argue with her so soon to her being back. Her bike rumbles into the high school parking lot, pulling into the space next to the bike rack that is meant for motorbikes but likely hasn't ever been used before. There aren't many bikes in town, not like hers. Dirt and off-road bikes are a little more common but still. She cuts the engine and climbs off her bike. Not ready to look around at the packed parking lot. She isn't ready to face the people she grew up with. She knows what being back is going to do. It's going to start rumors. And whispers. And people are going to be thinking about her none stop. She pulls off her helmet and shakes her hair out. And it's almost instant that the whispers start, just as she knew it would. She knows what it looks like. For someone to leave and then come back a few years later. And she knows they are all thinking it, and whispering about it. They all think she left because she got pregnant. She lets out an annoyed breath as she sets her helmet on the back of her bike. Those rumors and whispers are going to get tedious fast.

.....

Edward Cullen and his siblings are all standing together, going through the motions of arriving at school and conversing before class. Though they don't talk about much usually. They just make it look like they are deep in conversation with one another, mostly to stop anyone from approaching them. But since the arrival of Bella Swan things have been different for them. His siblings watch him with caution and concern. As if they are waiting for him to snap and attack the girl. He knows that that is exactly what some of them are waiting for. Just as he thinks about her, her red truck sputters and spits as she pulls into a parking spot. And he takes a breath to wait for the usual morning look over. Bella leaves the truck's cab and it's like something changed. For once, she's not paying him any attention. She has instantly looked across the parking lot to him and his family. And whilst that is what he wanted, for her to forget about him and to turn her attention elsewhere, that doesn't mean he is not curious as to what it is that has distracted her. Bella makes her way to a blonde girl that has just climbed off of a motorbike. Curls bouncing slightly around her face. Edward can tell the exact moment that his brother Emmett lays eyes on her. Because his entire mind gets loud. It's part of his charms. When Emmett finds joy or excitement or sees something he likes, his mind screams with his emotions. It's likely why Jasper likes to be around Emmett when he's having fun, it's just easy to feed off his happiness. Zenaida Swan. He gets that from the minds around her. She's a returning face and many, if not all, of the students that were born and bred in Forks remember her and they remember her leaving years back. Swan. It's safe to assume that he's looking at sisters, despite their wildly different appearances. But that's not what intrigues him. That makes him curious about her. About that family. No. He can hear echoes through her. That's not how his mind reading usually works. He can hear a single voice from each person around him, sounds like themselves, but with her. It's a mass of everyone else all rattling around her head. He is quick to realise what that means. She's a telepath. Like him. But human. And more powerful than he was when he was human himself. It's intense inside of her head. So much so that he is finding it difficult to locate her thoughts. But she doesn't seem to find it overwhelming. She barely seems to register that it's a barrage inside of her skull. He would struggle with that amount of intensity and he's been dealing with his abilities for a very long time now. Alice tilts her head at his side. Just like the rest of the school, they've fallen into the teenaged curiosity bubble. Zenaida is new and shiny and they are just as invested as the others. Emmett is musing her bike and her beauty. Rosalie her fashion sense. Alice's mind flashes with visions but Edward pays them no mind, she is going to fast for him to focus on them anyway, though he knows what she's looking for. Christian is pondering whether Zenaida is going to prove to be as much trouble as Bella has been already for their family. And Jasper is considering the implications just as Christian, though his revolve around him accidentally attacking and hurting or worse. Edward keeps his head down as he walks with his siblings towards the school, whilst filtering through Zenaida's mind, wading through everyone else to try and find her when he suddenly gets a feeling in his mind, that someone is in there with him, reading him. He looks up to find that Zenaida is looking right at him. She narrows her eyes at him, and three things happen. One, her mind is instantly shut to him. He can no longer read her mind. Two; he gets a sharp stabbing pain in his head. Short but effective. A warning. That makes him realise that she's not a typical telepath. They are not able to do that to others of their ability. Three; Alice's visions abruptly stop in her head. As if she is having difficulty formulating them. And that confuses her too.

"What is that?" Alice asks out loud, alerting their siblings to the fact that something is happening.

"What did we miss?" Christian voices.

"I was running the usual simulations on the new girl" Alice admits. "Just checking..." She subtly glances at Jasper who clenches his jaw, they all know what she means. She was checking to see if Zenaida was going to be an issue for Jasper. For any of them. "And then they just stopped and I couldn't find her any more...."

"She shut her mind off from me as soon as she realised I was reading her mind" Edward voices, they all turn to him and give him a look.

"But you can't read that Bella girl's mind either" Emmett points out.

"It's different" Edward argues turning a look on Emmett who shrugs.

"So who is she?" Rosalie muses as she shifts closer to Edward, wanting to know if this girl is going to put them all at risk, like Bella appears to be doing. They have enough trouble dealing with one human girl, let alone adding in a second.

"Zenaida Swan" Edward answers. "Bella's sister" Rosalie rolls her eyes, because of course they are related. None of them want to voice their concern over what this could mean. What another different human will do. But there is always a risk with them around humans anyway.

"Am I going to hurt her?" Jasper asks, they all turn to him and Alice shakes her head. She hasn't seen that happening. He's fine. Safe. But that doesn't mean he is going to stop worrying about the possibilities.
