《Unstable (L x Reader)》Chapter Two: Finding Home

I was lying on the ground. I was restricted in my straight jacket. Of course. They let me go nowhere except the bathroom. And even then I have to have someone accompany me to take me out of the jacket and make sure I dont escape or anything. But one faithful day, not sure when, I am not allowed a calendar, when I was being delivered food by the nicest of rude guards. That guard then told me that I was being released. That felt too good to be real. I have been in this asylum for what seems like 10 eternities, which I think is ten years or so. Again, don't have a calendar and I forget to ask. And immediately after me finishing my descent to a disgusting meal, a nurse came in. She was familiar, she did my checkups occasionally. She had a small white cup in her hands that rattled a bit as she walked. And since those drug cups scared me, I quickly jumped to my feet and started avoiding her. I learned quickly how to dodge their silly attacks but what I didn't know is that there were guards behind her probably knowing I would do this and they grabbed me and held me by my feet and tried to give me the meds like this. I squirmed more, now just only moving my torso and avoiding the hands. But then the free hands of the guards that were holding my feet grabbed my head, held it still, and then they put the pills in my mouth and then forced me to swallow. I learned how to take pills dry for a while. Then they dropped me and then two new figures entered my room. I quickly got off my back and sat up and watched carefully as they entered my room and sat down on the floor, though keeping their distance. There was a person looking my age, looks about maybe 5' 8" maybe even 5' 9". He had dark spikey raven hair and he looked like he had not seen the sun and sleep for an equal amount of a long time. But there was something about him that just made me want to know more, since I was struggling to figure him out. The guy accompanying him, he was old, quite skinny and tall. Looks to be the buttler type. Kind, loving, and dangerously skilled at pretty much anything. They started telling me I was going to be let go and I would be staying with them. My eyes grew a very large amount. I was just happy to hear I would be able to get out of there. They kept talking but my mind wandered. Then I was being freed from my jacket and being thrown all white clothes to change to. After I had my clothes on they led me through this open hole in the wall and inside there was a monitor room. I had a hunch this was a real thing and I was just happy knowing I was right. And right outside that were the halls to the building. I saw the halls that I have not stepped into since the incident. I'm not even sure how many long years ago that was. Once I was taken to their car it was black and luxurious. It felt wrong for someone like me to be sitting in this car. But before I could even properly sit down I started to feel drowsy, and I felt like I was on a cloud of some sort. Then I felt like I crashed to earth because then I passed out. (italics and in bold are quick pov changes) As (name) nearly missed the ground from passing out from the drugs the nurses gave her to sedate her she was carefully taken inside the car and she then layed down and slept the whole way back to where L and Watari were staying. As (name) was passed out L looked over her and watched her chest go up and down. She just fascinated him. He wanted to know more, and most importantly... he wanted to know why she was admitted to the mental hospital. Just those thoughts alone were haunting L right at that very moment. I woke up and nearly hit my head with the low ceiling in the car. The boy with the dark raven hair looked at me while turning his head slightly and he just watched me and everything I did. "I'm glad you're awake, you nearly passed out hitting your head on the roof of the car." "Oh... sorry about that. My nurse must have drugged me thinking I would be wild in the car." "They are allowed to do that to you?" "Yes, they have free reign over me since they basically have custody of me since no one wanted me so by ten I was left there and now I'm here." "Wow you're very open about things." "It's my strong suit." "I feel bad, I know all about you yet you know nothing about me." "Are you a detective? A hard working one at that?" "Yes, I am the top detective in the world." "And what would your name be." "My name is L, but if you don't like that name you can call me Ryuzaki." "No L is a nice name, it suits you." "Thank you." If I was not mistaken I think I saw color creep on his face. But it quickly went away and he kept looking at me, all over me, trying to figure me out. I was a pretty open person, I mean I was forced to tell people everything when I was first admitted and everything. It became a habit I guess. Then the car quickly came to a stop and the sweet old man I barely remember announced that we had arrived at the building we were staying at for a bit. I was curious what he meant by "a bit". But I think I should just stay quiet as much as I could. I walked inside and I kept my face towards the ground and then we went up an elevator up to one of the highest floors the building had. I soon realized that once we were inside the building it had hit me that we were inside a hotel and this man was truly a detective, always on the move.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
