Chapter 14.
was just another day, Cyn hadn't came out of bed and it was about 1 in the p.m, she snuck inside not really wanting to wake Rodney or deal with him. She didn't think that she could've answered the questions the way how she wanted to, further more she drowned in thoughts of her mothers appearance... at this point depression had completely taken over.
"Cyn open the damn door!" Cyn heard Rodney yell and started to bang on the door the same time, she lazily stood to her feet and opened it.
He looked angry and mad but for what reason she didn't care, Cyn wasn't even in her right mind right now...
"Where the fuck were you!"
"Get up." She heard Rodney say.
Cyn slowly opened the door seeing that he was standing over her with a mean ass mug.
"What Rodney?"
"You think I didn't see your ass comin' up in here this morning?" He asked stepping to her as she mentally cussed my self, she swore though his ass was asleep.
"Where the fuck you been Cyn?" He asked as his breath quickened.
"Out Rodney, minding my damn business..." She said.
Cyn went to Albert's bar after she was done at Travis', she knew that she was suppose to be home for a certain time and Rodney hearing about Cyn around other men didn't sit right with him. Cyn wasn't his; he wasn't Cyn's. And that's where she blew it. Rodney was taking care of her, he provided for her, so for Cyn to fix her mouth and said that she was with some boy or around other men didn't sit right with him.
"What you been back to them buildings for, dealing with some lil nigga?" He asked, the only thing that played on Cyn's mind was how did he know.
"Like I said Cyn, I got eyes every fuckin' where." She didn't reply to him, Cyn shook her head and stood to her feet.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"Right now, anywhere but here." She spoke.
"You think you bout to walk away from me when I'm talkin' to you?" He asked pulling her back.
"You ain't done yet?" She asked which only resulted in him gripping her by her arm and pulling her into him.
"Fuck you." Cyn hissed, her eyes widened with surprise as Rodney stood over her.
"Don't fuck with me Cyn, you know I'll fuck you up in a heartbeat?" He gripping her arm tightly pulling her into his chest... Her mind wondered off to Rodney.

"I'm talkin' to you." He said gripping her chin making her look him in the eyes. She hated this.
Cyn wasn't going to argue with him and she wasn't going to make no fuss either, doing as she told she went to her room and got a T-shirt and a pair of shorts, she grabbed her sandals out of the closet and slid them on her feet, when she walked back out of the room he was sitting in the chair impatiently.
"Come on." She looked up at him and backed away.
"I'm not goin' anywhere..." She said as he shook his head.
"If you in anyway think I'm 'bout to leave your ass in my house alone you a lie." Before he could get at her, she did what he said.
Cyn walked towards Rodney's car and waited until the alarm went off and she got in the back seat for some reason. Rodney got in the driver's seat and looked to the passenger side realizing that Cyn wasn't there, his head snapped to the back seat where he saw her and his looks immediately straightened.
"Why you sit in the back?"
"No reason." She shrugged him off and turned her gaze towards the window and she heard him scoffed.
Soon they pulled up to an unfamiliar house that Cyn had never seen before.
She watched as Rodney turned towards her...
"Come on..." She didn't answer him, instead she just opened her door and climbed out. Cyn and Rodney stood before the beautiful double doors, Calvin soon came into view alarming his truck and walking towards them.
"Sup?" Rodney said slapping heads with him.
"Nothin' much." He replied, Calvin looked over at Cyn giving her a light head nod as she did the same, turning away. A guy who was standing by the door came and unlocked it and from there he led the way.
"Someone live here?" She asked him lowly and he simply ignored me.
Fuck you then.
"Fuck you too." He said to her and her eyes widened not realizing that she had said that out loud. It was weird to her, she'd never been at one of his lil 'drops' before which really left her slightly amused.
They came to a back door like that had two rooms opposite one another, from what she'd seen it resembled where Rodney did his dirt at and come to think of it this was just another one of them houses.
"Stay next to me and don't forget don't talk to nobody fuckin' body." He spoke and she gave him a simple head nod, it was cold as hell as Cyn tried to console herself in here and the gray concrete wall ain't made it no better, it was worse than Rodney's and moments like these made her realize what was actually going on.

They came to a short halt and there was a desk which was surrounded by four chair and another on the opposite side, now a female and Rodney were both in the front of Cyn walking towards the seats, Cyn began to get a little skeptical and her mind wasn't even conscious of what was going on right now.
She casted her cowardly ways aside taking in a deep breath and walking over to take a seat, Rodney gave her a stern look before she sat down and she instantly pick up on what it meant, but now she wasn't trying to pay him the least of her mind.
"I don't want that smart ass mouth of yours to interfere alright?" He gave her a sly smirk, but the way he was gripping the chair she knew it had been more than what was said.
"You here..." She turned around and saw a guy dressed in red and white, he looked old...too old if you'd asked, which made Cyn wonder why Rodney would deal with this dude.
"And you brought?"
"Cyn." He said bluntly.
"Your girlfriend or somethin'?" He asked coming around the table to take a seat.
"Just Cyn." He spoke as her head snapped towards him and the guy laughed where as she heard the female stiffen a grin, he didn't look at her just straight ahead, as if she wasn't even here and she knew that he had known she was looking at him.
Just Cyn....
It replayed in her head as she shook her head lightly and bit her lip, she felt so damn stupid right now. She released the little of breath that she had in her and the conversation they were having didn't even process in her mind until she saw Rodney getting up.
"Where are you goin'?" She asked looking over at him.
"Relax I'll, I'll be right back. Just don't talk to nobody an please watch your mouth." He said eyeing her before walking down the hall along with Calvin another man and the female.
"Congratulations." She turned her head to meet the man's face who was now laughing.
"Some girls would kill to be with him, you got the spot. Thank God it ain't that annoying bitch, whats her name again?" He asked more to himself before putting the cigar.
"Anyways, you want one?" He asked handing Cyn a cigar.
"I don't smoke..." She stated simply.
She watched as he rest the cigar on the ashtray and began to make his was over to her.
"Do you know who I am?" She shook her head 'no'.
"That's just it, you don't know, therefore you didn't know that I don't take no for an answer." He said lighting the blunt what was once behind his ear.
"Here." He handed it to me and she looked at it before shaking her head, he laughed hysterically before gripping Cyn's jaw.
"Listen to me alright baby girl, you don't got no choice when it comes to me. When I tell you do something you do it, now I'm not gone tell you no more or you'll end up face down on the damn floor. Got it!" She gave him a look before taking it out of his hand.
"Go on." Cyn parted her lips and held it between her fingers and inhale her first take, she started to cough immediately hating the taste as she threw it on the desk and sat up.
"You not supposed to rush." He laughed, she gave him a look and then raised her brow.
"I didn't want to do it all, remember?" She squinted her eyes at him.
"I told you baby, I don't take no for an answer."
"Who are you really?" She asked before thinking.
"You don't want to baby girl." As if on que Rodney and girl came into view and he looked pissed as hell, so she guess tonight won't be much talking.
She stood to her feet and walked out first before everyone and didn't stop until she had reached Rodney's Jeep.
"What happened?" She heard him asked from behind her.
"Nothing." She mumbled as he hit the alarm and she got in.
"You mad or somethin'?" He asked as he got in.
"Mad?" She scoffed.
"Rodney I don't have nothin' to say to you and I honestly don't get how you could even pull something like that." She turned her head to look outside of the window when she heard him mumbled something, but she chose to leave it.
She didn't have time to argue and the more she stared at him she realized that she needed to get out of here and she needed to get out of here fast.

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
