"Up."

"Hotel Transylvania!"

"Up!"

"Hotel—"

"Enough!" Simon shouted across the room.

The two looked over at the man who sat on the sofa while reading a book. "I'm the youngest here! I want Hotel Transylvania!" Maxi yelled, hands rested on her hips with her bottom lip stick out.

"Little kids should watch cute and adorable movies like Up!" Aaron protested.

Alexa had dropped Maxi off at Aaron's place. She and her husband were going have a talk about the whole divorce stuff and she asked if Maxi can stay over at Simons place.

It was a Saturday, Simon didn't have work so he was pretty much babysitting them. After lunch, they decided to watch a movie and that's when an argument about which one to watch came up.

"Ari, why not let Max watch a movie she likes. She is our guest." Simon said to him and Maxi nodded in agreement.

Aaron looked down at her and hesitantly handed the remote over to her. "Here you go." He said forcefully.

At that moment, the doorbell rang more than a thousand times at once. "Who in the world...?" Simon questioned and placed his book on the coffee table, walking over to the door.

"I'm here to play!" Alan's voice boomed the moment Simon opened the door.

Alan skipped over into the house and Nathan just shook his head. "Hey." He looked up at Simon and said.

"You could've told me you were coming over." Simon gave him an irritated glare.

"Sorry. I have to head out. I have a lot of grading to do and very little time." Nathan apologised.

He worked as a first grade teacher. That's how he met Alan. Alan's nephew attended the school he taught at and one afternoon during parent teacher day, Alan showed up.

"It's cool man. At this point I might as well start a daycare." Simon said in a very passive aggressive tone and glanced into the living room.

"Max?" Nathan raised an eyebrow.

The girl heard her name being called and looked over at the door. "Mr Teacher!" She exclaimed cheekily and ran over to Simon and Nathan.

"You know her?" Simon questioned.

"Yeah, she's one of my best students." Nathan said, crouching down to Maxi's height. "Hey kiddo, why are you here?" He asked.

"I came to play with Aaron." She replied.

"Wow, how's your dad?"

"He's okay. He and mommy are on a date so I have to stay here." She said with a smile.

"That's great. I still haven't met your mom. Will she be at the student of the year celebration?"

"I don't know. I'll ask." She replied and smiled up at him.

"Well, I hope you have a nice day. I'll be heading out now." Nathan said to her and ruffled her hair before standing up straight. "Bye then." He waved to Simon and exited the house.

Maxi slipped back to the living room where the boy's were and sat on the carpet next to them. "We're still watching Hotel Transylvania." She said and grabbed the remote.

"Yay! I love that movie!" Alan exclaimed, clapping his hands cheerfully.

Aaron glared at him but stayed quiet, cursing him in his mind. "See, two against one!" Maxi smiled widely.

The entire time they watched the movie, Aaron got more and more irritated, he was being a bit petty and didn't enjoy the movie at all.

He got up from the floor and went over to Simon. "What's wrong? Are you hungry?" Simon looked up from his book and asked.

"Bored." He replied.

"Wanna sit on daddy's lap?" Simon smiled and Aaron nodded slightly.

Simon placed his book aside and let Aaron climb up on his lap. He picked his book up again and read in his mind as Aaron just sat there watching.

Soon enough he felt his eyes begin to get heavy and before he knew it, he was out cold.

When he opened his eyes, he noticed he was in the living room but Simon and the other two were no where in sight.

He lifted his body up and the blanket that had been covering him fell to the floor.

As he was about to step off the sofa, Simon walked in from the direction of the bedrooms, hair wet and in nothing but some black sports shorts.

"Oh, you're awake." He said once he noticed Aaron.

"Maxi and Alan where?" Aaron questioned as he rubbed his eyes a bit.

"They already left, you were asleep for quite a while." Simon replied and made his way to him. "Why don't you go shower and wear your cutest pjs, daddy has a surprise for you." He said after kissing Aaron's lips.

"Surprise?" Aaron tilted his head and spoke while yawning.

"Mhm. Hurry now." He nodded.

Aaron did as so and made his way to his room. He got into the bathroom and showered, stepping out and searching through his little clothes.

He stopped on a pink bunny onesie and pulled it on after wearing a pair of soft boxers and a tank top. He made his way downstairs and found the lights in the living room off.

"Daddy?" He blinked in confusion and his eyes landed on what seemed to be a blanket fort. He walked over and nearly jumped when he saw the pillows and blankets move a bit.

"Wow!" Simon exclaimed once he stepped out. "I guess you're daddy's little bunny for tonight aren't you?" He cooed and pinched Aaron's nose a bit. "You like it?" He pointed at the fort behind him.

"It's so pretty!" Aaron giggled and hugged him. "What it for?" He tilted his head a bit.

"For movie night of course! You wanted to watch Up right? Now we can see it together." Simon pulled from the hug and said, placing his hands on both sides of Aaron's shoulders. "Why don't you go in and daddy will bring us some snacks." He said to him and Aaron nodded cheerly, stepping in and getting comfortable on the pillows.

Simon returned with a tray that had his famous lemon squares, popcorn, strawberries and a sippy cup of apple juice. He got in and sat down next to Aaron pulling him close and covering themselves in a small fluffy blanket.

He turned the tv on and played the movie. Just fifteen minutes in and Aaron was already bawling his eyes out at how sad it was. "Daddy." He turned to Simon and said.

"Yes, baby." Simon replied.

"Why do good people always have sad endings?" Simon thought for a second.

"I honestly don't know. All I can say is that the world we live in isn't fair at all. There's going to be someone who makes the best decisions, has the kindest heart and knows how to take care of themselves as well as others but, bad things will still hit them harder than the thief next door. We can try to change that possibility but, it just doesn't end in our favour sometimes." He added.

"Do you think bad things will happen to us then?"

Simon looked at him for a second. "Probably." He replied. "But we'll get through them together won't we?" He smiled.

"Mhm! Together forever!" He smiled widely and cuddle closer to Aaron.

The movie went on and soon they ended up just sleeping in the fort overnight.

Aaron woke up in the middle of the night. He wasn't feeling little anymore so he decided to just slip out and go use the restroom.

When he entered his room again he grabbed his cellphone from the nightstand near his bed. Opening it, a number of notifications popped up and one text message from an unknown number.

He pressed on the message and read it.

Wow. It's been a while who knew you'd end up living such a luxurious life. We should meet up and have a little reunion, everyone misses you a lot."

He read the message over and over again, thinking hard on who it could be from. He certainly did not have friends growing up so who the world could miss him? His family wanted nothing to do with him and teachers didn't even know his name up until the last day of the year.

He sat on the edge of his bed and contemplated on whether to reply to the message or not. He was startled a bit when he heard the door break open.

"Jeez, I thought I lost you for a minute." Simon walked in with a smile of relief. "What's up, did you have a bad dream again?" He asked as he made his way and sat next to Aaron.

Aaron shut his phone off and put on a grin. "No, I just needed to use the bathroom." He said to him.

"That's good then." Simon smiled wholeheartedly.

He looked at Aaron in silence. Just mentally admiring his features. Aaron brought his hand up to his face, clearly lost. "Something on my face?" He asked.

"No. I just can't help it, have I ever told you how drop dead gorgeous you are?" He said and wrapped an arm around his shoulder.

"A couple of times." He leaned his head on his shoulder.

"Well, I'll say it again. Aaron..." he paused and pulled Aaron's head from his shoulder. "Sweetie."

"Yes."

"We've known one another for quite a while now, right?"

"Mhm."

"There's one thing that never crossed my mind until now."

"That is?"

Simon bit down on his lip in thought and looked at Aaron with a serious gaze. "What's your last name?"

"I don't have one." He replied quickly. Simon was surprised on how he answered that with such an unfazed expression.

"What do you mean you don't have one? What about your birth certificates and all that?"

"It's always just been 'Aaron'. I had my mother's first name on my documents, so I guess maybe that counts." He said to him.

A smile curled onto Simon's lips but Aaron didn't think much of it. "Well..." Simon said, trailing off the conversation. "We might as well go to sleep now. It's really late." Aaron nodded, setting his cellphone on the nightstand. "Why don't we just sleep here while we're at it."
