《The Sinful Mortal》Situation

Metrus Planet, Crown System, Votmand Galaxy.
First of September, year 573.
This planet had only land with no water. It consisted of one huge city. Rows of tall buildings were seen with many pedestrians walking along the streets. Men were dressed in suits, while women were dressed in long dresses. One look and you could tell that they must live in luxury. This was the capital of the empire.
One could spot a huge palace in the heart of the city. It had many towers and around it was erected a huge wall. Inside, there were many rooms and hallways. A throne was situated at the back of the main hall. The throne was on a platform, three steps above the floor. The throne was black with silver rails. Seven jewels were placed on top of its crest rail.
A man was seated on the throne. He looked to be in his early 120s. He exuded a deep aura of authority. He was on the lean side with a height of 3.73 metres. He had short blond hair and two pairs of arms. He had three eyes which glowed red, two normal ones and a vertical one on his forehead. He donned a golden imperial mantle. This man was Jargon I, the emperor.
A man stood beside the platform on his right and in front of him were six chairs. Three on each side. On top, sat the empire's six heroes. The decennial conference was being held.
"How are the losses in the previous onslaught?" Asked Jargon.
"We lost about a million Law King Warriors, among them were 156 Law Masters. In addition, 1047 systems were destroyed in the battle," said Jason, a man who looked to be in his 160s with 2 pairs of brown wings on his back.

Everyone became quiet.
The prime minister, Henry Solomon, a slim old man with a white beard, said, "The research on the seven major laws have not had much progress. The issue regarding Reality and Illusion Laws haven't been resolved either. Apart from that, none of the teams we sent outside returned, we suspect that they are dead."
"Does any of you have any good news?" Questioned Jargon.
No one gave a reply.
"In any case, our situation has not reached the point of no return yet. We should focus on nurturing more Law Masters, especially Fate and Space Masters. If in 500 years, we have made no significant progress, we will start implementing the isolation plan," said Jargon.
The group was slightly surprised but no one raised an objection.
**********
Artix's life went on as usual. He would practice once a week while he spent most of his time revising. He would also take some time to study death. He would occasionally hang out with his friends or play tricks on people using the Hide spell.
Finally, it was time for the exams. The exam had two parts, a theory part and a combat part. The theory part consisted of four papers. One paper was based on maths and science, this paper had 70 marks in total. One paper was based on understanding the laws, this paper also had 70 marks. One paper was on general knowledge including history, this paper had 50 marks. The final paper was a test of personality with 'What do you do?' and 'What is your understanding of?' questions, it had a total of 10 marks given to those who tried their best in answering the questions. Students who did not take the paper seriously would be deducted 50 marks on top of the paper's 10 marks. Artix had always been confused about the purpose of this paper. But, now that he learnt about the Law Masters, he could guess that they wanted find people suitable for becoming Law Masters through it. Artix guessed that each law needed a specific mentality in order to accept it.

The practical exams were divided into two parts. The size of the domain and the actual combat. The first exam was relatively simple. The students would put their hands on a special detector, which would measure the size of their domain and send the data directly to the school system, they would get marks depending on the size of their domain. If a student's domain was 100km, they would get 10 marks, if their domain was 500m, they would get 0.05 marks and so on.
The actual combat was the most exciting part of the exams. The million students were divided into 1000 groups, each group containing about 1000 students. Each group would be placed inside a city. Students would start with one point each. They would fight each other and the winner would gain the points of the loser. The battle would end after a week and the top 10 in each city would be qualified for the next round. The next round was similar, but with 100 groups this time. They would fight inside a town with the same rules, but with a duration of 4 days. The top 10 would be then qualified for the next round. The final round was the tournament. The 1000 students would battle each other until a champion was selected. Students were then granted marks based on their rankings. The top 100 would get 1000 marks, top 10000 would get 100, top 20000 would get 90,..., top 100000 would get 10, top 200000 would get 9, ...etc.
The students were then placed in different classes according to the number of marks they had.
Although Artix held no hope for the tournament, he was at least confident that he could qualify for it. It was because he had Hide. He could now keep it on perpetually at 65 times the minimum rate! Even if he were to be discovered, he would make sure to turn their clothes into dust! 'Hmph, serves you right,' Artix thought with a naughty smile.
