《The Sinful Mortal》First Round

The written exams finished on the 20th. 'Let's hope I will get at least 100 marks,' Artix hoped.
Artix took out his card and infused mana into it. Students could use their cards to access some information. A hologram appeared and Artix browsed through it. He wanted to find which group he was in for tomorrow's battle.
'Let's see. I am in group 590. Let's see how many elites are inside the group.'
'Damn! There are are actually 21 elites in my group.'
'Well, I better go grab my bracelet first before thinking about it.'
Artix went to receive his bracelet. The bracelet was powered by a small mana stone. It acted as a protective cover for students. Those who received damage above a certain threshold would be automatically teleported out. It also kept count on the number of points each student had. The number of points a disqualified person would have was the maximum number of points they had before being disqualified. It carried within it an amount of food that would last a person for a week.
Artix then went to finish his domain measurement. He received 2.4 marks as a result.
The day passed and it was time for the first round. Each group of students gathered together. When the time came, their bracelets lit up and they were teleported to the exam location. The teleportation was random.
Artix looked at his surroundings. He was teleported inside a room. The surroundings were dark. Artix used his consciousness to survey the room. He discovered a window which was covered with curtains. He walked to the window and removed the curtain.
Apparently, he was teleported inside a tall building. Artix could see rows of buildings down there. It was night. The only illumination came from the stars. No moon was hanging in the sky. As always, the battle was located on a rogue planet. He saw several students making their way to this building. A smile gradually appeared on his lips. 'Shall we begin?'

A boy walked towards the tallest building in his sight. He wanted to check the layout of the surroundings through it. He walked cautiously, hiding behind walls. He spotted someone watching him from the window. He did not care. He continued to walk, while keeping his consciousness active in the 10 metre radius around him. Finally, he reached his destination.
Five students were gathered at the bottom of the building. Three boys and two girls. They looked at each other cautiously. None made a move.
Creaking of a door was heard. The students became tense. All of them knew of a sixth existence. All eyes were directed at that door. They used their consciousness to check the first floor. They could find nothing. 'Where did he go?' A question appeared in their minds.
BANG! One of the boys fell to the ground. His bracelet lit up. He disappeared. The four were astonished. They involuntarily took a step back and hurriedly checked their surroundings. A chill rose from their heart, they couldn't find anything. They checked the surrounding buildings to see if there was a sniper. They knew that wasn't the case, though. After all, there was no sound.
BANG! One of the girls fell. She disappeared. The remaining three were scared deeply. The remaining girl's legs started to tremble. She screamed and hurriedly escaped.
BANG! Another boy fell.
One boy remained. He was drenched in sweat. "Coward, show yourself," he screamed to no avail.
He frantically cast spells in all directions. Fireballs to the left, Windblades to the right. He punched left and right. Dust covered the surroundings. The boy raised his head and laughed, "I got you now!"
BANG! Another boy fell.
'Although they seem to ignore me, they still notice the changes I cause,' Artix looked at the footprints he left, 'Looks like I need to choose the fighting environment carefully, it would have been troublesome if he managed to find me in the end.'

Artix cleaned his shoes and went after the girl.
Tremors could be felt. Explosions could be heard.
The city was in chaos.
**********
A girl was running on the streets. Her blue skirt fluttered in the wind. She poured incredible amounts of mana into her legs. She was panting heavily. She was scared.
The girl passed several students. Some of them were fighting, while others were having a discussion. She paid them no mind. She continued running until she could no more. Quickly, She looked around and hid in a building. She adjusted her breathing. She calmed down and thought how she met several students on the way. "He would most likely hunt them down, he wouldn't chase me all the way here."
"That's where you're wrong," a sound came from the corner.
The girl trembled. She couldn't believe it, she didn't want to believe it. This ghost had followed her all the way! "Why?" She couldn't help but ask.
BANG! She disappeared.
'They will ignore the sound of my breathing and footsteps but they will hear me talking. Aren't I a real ghost then?' Artix thought.
'Good, now no one knows about the ghost, that is me. I will be more careful from now on.'
**********
Two boys were fighting on a roof. They condensed mana on their fists like gauntlets. They boosted their speed with mana. They would clash with fists and spells. They wanted to end the battle quickly.
One boy used a Fireball. The other countered with a Windblade only to see the opponent approaching him at an incredible speed. The boy raised his hands and condensed a shield in front of him. The opponent smiled, he extended his hand and made a pulling gesture. Before the shield boy could react, a big rock hit the back of his head. He disappeared.
"Good strategy," a praise came from behind the winner.
"Than..." BANG!
**********
On this battlefield, Artix felt that his understanding of death had become much deeper.
He managed to conclude one of his principles of death:
In front of death, everyone is equal.
