《The Sinful Mortal》Ranking

Artix came out of the bathroom while drying his hair. He sat on the edge of the now dirty bed and went into deep thought.
'The progress is almost ten times the average person. It takes about 220 years of continuous practice to become a Law Phase Warrior, but for me, it would only be about 22 years!'
Artix couldn't hide his joy, only to be struck by the sound of his stomach rumbling. His joy vanished as he discovered a serious problem. He didn't have resources to aid his practice. Unless one reached the Law King Realm, their body would still need to consume food.
'It seems like I need to top the coming exams,' thought Artix before changing his bed sheets and going out to find something to eat.
In Mayall Academy, or in this branch at least, each year group was divided into 10000 classes, with each class containing about one hundred students. The top 100 classes were the elite class and they would receive more support from the academy. The academy held an exam every three years to reshuffle the students based on performance. The exams were divided into combat exams and theoretical exams. Artix, being in the ninth year, meant that he would have to sit his exams this December. Only this way would he have hope of joining the top 100 classes.
Although Artix has the inheritance his parents left him, the bank would not pass it to him before reaching adulthood- that is before he reached 60 years old-. He could only withdraw 30 pounds each month- 1 pound was enough to buy 10 loaves of bread-. This amount wasn't enough to buy high level demon nutrients to supplement his body.
Artix went to a nearby restaurant and grabbed something to eat. He went back to his dorm, sat on the chair and grabbed a book on the desk. He started to revise seriously. He was behind by a whole year after all.

For the next seven days, Artix led a monotonous life. He would wake up early and then either go to class or start revising if it was the weekend. Today, he found that his body had healed enough to endure another round of practice.
'It seems like I can only practice once every week for now,' Artix calculated carefully, 'the exams are on the 20th, today is the 15th so I have 145 days left. That's about 20 weeks so I get to practice 20 times including today and discounting one to be in perfect condition for the exam.' Artix continued to perform the most complex calculation his brain had ever handled, 'If it's like this my domain would grow to contain a range of about 24km, the only problem is that I don't know the standards of the elite class, I should probably ask Ma'am Helary or Edward, that guy loves gossip.'
'Well, I should probably start practicing', thought Artix while he went to sit on his bed, he muttered, as if to console himself, "hopefully it won't hurt as much this time...".
Maybe it was because of his experience last time, or maybe due to some other factor he could not understand, Artix found, to his joy, that it really wasn't as painful as last time. After half an hour, he found himself in the same situation as before. He went to clean himself, changed the bed sheets and then went out to grab something to eat.
Out of dorm, down the dormitory, along the street, Artix reached his favourite restaurant. The restaurant was named, 'Blue Dine'. This was a small one floor restaurant with few tables located both inside and outside. Artix saw few students having their meal outside. This was quite a popular private restaurant in the area.

As for why Artix didn't go to the cafeteria, it was because the cafeteria in the academy would provide you with meals based on your ranking. Being in class 5001 and above would mean having two meals a day. 1001 to 5000 would mean three meals. 101 to 1000 would mean five meals a day. As for the elite class, they could have as much as they wanted to.
Each student would carry with them an ID card which would include their information and their daily allowance. The cards were connected to a central data base via the Information Law. Hence, cheating or using someone else's ID was impossible, unless you had high attainment in the laws.
Artix went inside the restaurant and went straight to a random free table. He then called for the boss. Boss Manny, a tall stout man with a friendly smile on his hairy face, came to his table.
"Hey Art, what would you like today?" Said Manny. As a frequent visitor, Artix was quite close to the boss, hence the nickname. He was also one of the few students who did not get repulsed by the boss's appearance and smell.
"The usual," replied Artix, feeling his stomach, he immediately added, "No, twice the usual."
"Tsk-tsk, looks like you reached your growth period," said Manny.
"Everyone grows eventually," said Artix matter-of-factly.
"Why does it feel like your the adult here," said Manny strangely.
"It's not a feeling," replied Artix.
Manny became speechless. He opened his mouth to say something, but he ended up leaving to report back the order. Contrary to his appearance, Boss Manny was actually a simple man. He ran the restaurant with his wife, daughter and son-in-law. The couple also had two sons who lived in Votmand. Manny always complained to Artix about how unfilial his two sons were. To this old man's rambling, Artix always turned a deaf ear.
Manny came back from the kitchen and took a seat in front of Artix. Artix looked at Manny, Manny looked at Artix.
Manny: "How's school?"
Artix: "Good."
Manny: "How's study?"
Artix: "Good."
Manny: "How's life?"
Artix: "Good."
Manny: "How's practice?"
Artix, irritably: "Are you going to continue until my order is ready?"
Manny: "Good."
Artix became speechless.
