Chapter 8: The fallout Decision

With all the commotion that happened, speculations and rumors spread. Some rumors over exaggerated the event.

Some argued that Tymol allowed his guard to get down to such a fundamental level that even Mitchiel managed to get a tie.

Some argued that Mitchiel had a hidden master that was teaching him some high level dodging skills and that’s how he managed to get a tie.

Other rumors went on the offensive completely. They argued that Tymol, after bullying Mitchiel for who knows how many months, felt pity for the guy and decided to give him a tie. Another rumor argued that Mitchiel had some secret talent and just made a breakthrough on how to use it just now.

Rumors and speculation continue to spread, and at the same moment, Mitchiel’s household came back to the household from outer town. They received the message that was sent to them via the butler’s bird.

They were shocked and in disbelief. The person they thought to be useless and a waste of money managed to do something most of their young adult disciples would not managed. They were ecstatic.

They have already forgotten that Mitchiel was their no-good useless family member. Their opinion has changed so much, they forgot they hated his guts. They have all become hypocrites when they realized they could use Mitchiel to bring their reputation back up.

Everyone became a hypocrite and thought how much they could use Mitchiel for their own benefit, all except Mitchiel’s father and sister. They were always the two people supporting Mitchiel. They always took Mitchiel’s side and when they received the news, they were the happiest.

But that happiness was also short-lived, just like everything else Mitchiel tried to do.

“What are we going to do about this?” asked the members of Mitchiel’s household, after being contacted about Gyphos’s demands.

“Our household, the Minotaur Clan, cannot afford our reputation plummeting, and even if Mitchiel managed to tie against Tymol, that only brought down Gyphos’s reputation momentarily. But those bloodthirsty guys are now forcing us to make a choice” stated a member that sat in the middle of the meeting room.

His name was Reige Slax and he is an important and prominent member of the clan.

“Then what do you suggest we do?” asked Mitchiel’s father, that was sitting across from Reige.

Reige has always been neutral about the likes and dislikes throughout the clan. He is the reason why Mitchiel was even allowed to stay in one the household’s mansions. If it wasn’t for Reige, Mitchiel would most likely have gotten excommunicated by now.

“I suggest we look at another side of things” stated Reige as everyone observed him, since he is known to be the only fair and unprejudiced person in the entire clan. “Mitchiel had somehow managed to tie with Tymol, that in by itself is extraordinary, but when we arrived we noticed that Mitchiel’s mantra was still broken, hence he is still unable to practice Martial Arts or use magic”

“Then what are you trying to say?” asked the members of the household. “Get to the point already Reige, you love holding us back”

“I say” thought Reige for a moment, gathering his thoughts together, “We asked Mitchiel what happened, if he really is capable of dodging techniques that well, I say we teach him all the basics of martial arts, if he improve, then he can go to the YAMAC, if he doesn’t, we will not send him, since he will undoubtedly embarrass us”

“So, what you are trying to say is to test him?” asked the clan leader that sat a couple of seats away from Reige.

“Yes, precisely” explain Reige. “Let’s give him a chance to show how he did it”

The clan leader always listened to what Reige said and always considered things. He knew how influential and well-known Reige was. Reige was the one that managed to get eleventh place in the YAMAC and he is only 30 years old.

By far, Reige is the one out of all the disciples that they have in Minotaur (which isn’t a lot) that have the most talent and skills. Taking what Reige say carefully has always been the right decision so far.

But sending Mitchiel to the YAMAC just like that?

Will it really be that simple? There exist multiple internal conflict going throughout the clan right now.

The household is facing issues among itself. Mitchiel’s mother is against Mitchiel completely and in fact refuses to even look at Mitchiel. Even when told about what Mitchiel just did, her response was the same as always.

“That child is no child of mine. What if he got a tie, that’s probably God’s only gift to him, since he was a mistake”

The clan leader thought some more and after waiting for some moments, he stood up to deliver his final words on the topic. All eyes in the room were on him like glue.

“My final say on the matter is that, once Mitchiel wake up, we will ask him whether or not he thinks he can get in the top fifteen place in the YAMAC, if he doesn’t think so, he doesn’t have to go, but if he does choose to go after all but does not get in the top fifteen, he will be excommunicated from both the household and the clan itself. If he chooses not to go to YAMAC because he believes he cannot get in the top fifteen place, he will have to suffer punishments for bringing the clan’s reputation down” stated the clan leader firmly.

“But why? My son did nothing wrong” explained Mitchiel’s father. “He shouldn’t get punishment or get excommunicated!!”

“My brother only has the clan’s best interest at heart” said Mitchiel’s sister, but her voice was ignored.

She wasn’t powerful enough for people to heed her words.

“That is what I have decided, and even though Mitchiel is part of the household, it pain my heart to have to do that” explained the clan leader. “I have always wished that nothing on this level would ever happen to the household, but alas”
