《Zarath: Age of Growth》Chapter 3: Quite Simple

Name your plane of existence.
"Oh ummm.. umm I'm Sarrra?..Zara...no Zarath yeaaaaa that sounds plane-y. From here on out, this plane shall be called Zarath so decrees Her Majesty Me."
Zarath has been set as the name of the plane.
Choose an entrance for your dungeon.
"So many responsibilities! I choose to procrastinate, it's a tried and true strategy never once failed me." So she did; instead of placing her dungeon entrance, she floated off to explore her new domain.
As she floated around, she played with her body's abilities. First off, she can float, which was very convenient for exploring. She could also roughly recreate her old body even if she looked like a ghost. She can also see that her gem floated in her body next to where her heart would be. Although she had a better representative of herself in comparison to the white cloudy she was before, she could no longer pick stuff up. When she tried to grab a tree branch, her hand passed right through it, even with this downside, she still prefers this current form considering it came with a color pallet to her dimension.
As she was exploring, she noticed that only tiny animals, nothing bigger than an Earth squirrel, appeared. She also noticed that they ran from her, she was only able to catch a glimpse of a weird lizard thing. It had the body shape of a chicken, the scales of lizard, and only as big as a squirrel without the tail. As she began to head towards the higher ground to get a better vantage point, a blue portal opened up, and out came a tiny man with wings. Vanessa immediately put her hands up as if she knew karate, even though she knew none. Her brain stalled when she saw a little man came out of the portal, and before she was able to come up with a threatening sounding comment, he spoke in a calm voice.
"Well, hello, you must be the sentient dungeon core. My name is Honcdan Sweind I have been assigned as your dungeon companion. You may call me Hon, I see you already named the plane."
It took her a while to comprehend what was happening, then she remembered that she did indeed ask for someone to offload the hard work too. But first, she must establish her regalness. So she straighten her self out and added a tone of importance to her voice. "Well hello Hon, I'm Vanessa it's a pleasure to meet you. I have indeed named the plane and placed my core, but now I must place the entrance. I was simply exploring my plane to see where it would best fit."

"Oh, you don't have an entrance yet? Interesting, there have been very few cases sentient dungeons, so this part is rather new to me, but I am a very old and experience fairy. One second, allow me to scout a good spot before you start to feel the pressure." He sat down in the air with his legs crossed and made a circular motion above his head with his hand. Soon many images of the fairy come out of the sitting one she counted 12 they flew up and split off.
Vanessa took this opportunity while his eyes were closed to take a good look at him. He had white hair that reached his shoulder and was tied in a low ponytail. His face was a rectangle shape with the jawline being well defined and with no facial hair. If she could name region he came from, it would be Europe. His body is what you would expect from someone that exercises regularly but wasn't a gorilla. He wore a classic Chinese robe that was a leafy green color, with no accessories. An odd combination, but more importantly, he casted magic, this had confirmed to Vanessa there was magic, now she needed to weaponize ice cream. She was pretty sure that killing people with diabetes was not going to be fast enough, and killing them with the cold is too basic. After a minute watching and daydreaming of ice cream, she got back to what Hon said earlier. "Pressure? What do you mean? I was not given much information about my race and was told to adhere to you about it."
"Ahh, well, yes. I can indeed help in that regard, so let's begin with what you are. So you see, the dimensions in our part of the multiverse are rather fragile and unstable. The Anchor Dungeon Core job is to stabilize it, the way it does it is rather difficult to comprehend, but we know that it takes time. For instance, the current size of this plane will grow with time as you do, there are other factors that dictate it, but that's the gist of it." He continued on with his eyes still closed.
"As for the pressure, well, you see this domain you claimed, are all considered part of your dungeon, to begin with. Imagine your domain as a box, and we are in that box, your gem" He points at her chest "That gem is the physical connection to your metaphysical gem. The metaphysical gem exists in a sub-dimension within this one; it also your true soul. Now think of the metaphysical gem as a marble to emits energy inside a box, and if we have a box with no exit, the marble will create pressure on the box."

At this point, Vanessa was confused. "So, my domain is a box, and I have an imaginary gem that floating around in my domain that creating pressure?"
"Yes, and the entrance is what allows you to grow your plane, and it alleviates the pressure."
"So what's to stop people from finding the imaginary gem and killing me?"
"The gem exists in a sub-dimension that none has been able to get to."
"Do I die if this gem is destroyed?" She points at her chest
"Right now? Probably no, usually dungeon are already settled in when a dungeon companion gets assigned. That gem you have is not very strongly connected to your actual heart."
Vanessa started thinking of how to possible to cheat the system. "So is this pressure lethal, and why isn't it already connected to the sub-dimension gem."
He put his hands down and opened his eyes. "Most likely lethal and the physical gem can't connect because the location of the marble in the box is technically nowhere and everywhere until the entrance is created. The location will become known and fixed in the box at that point. Your physical gem won't have a strong connection and you are very limited in what you can do, but it will automatically connect to it once the entrance is made." He stood up and stretched and said, "Ok, I found a couple of locations that would make a good place for an entrance. Also, the location of the entrance will be the center of the domain despite the location, the metaphysical gem will stabilize the space around it to make it the center."
Vanessa was really enjoying this whole companion thing; she didn't even have to do any work, and she got possible locations for the entrance. *Man this whole being royal things is pretty legit, not having to do work, and all have to do is act fancy. I even impress myself with my regalness. Even if I don't understand anything about this imaginary gem stuff, I just gotta fake it until I make it.*
"So what difference does it make? The locations I mean."
Hon started casting another spell, but this time he pointed it at the floor. Some dirt and stone started to fly up, and water manifest around it. The floating debris began to shape into a rough circle, and small sprouts of plants popped out of the dirt. Hon finished with his spell floated around it before marking four locations, with a magic hue.
"Normally, the location would dictate your growth path, but since you are already sentient, that won't matter. So we should choose the most defensible location."
That worried her a bit, "From what are we defending from?"
"This is rather far off, but normally as a dungeon grows or becomes sentient, like any other animal, they would want a territory that is theirs. And the adventures, nobles and the general populous don't like having monster out of the dungeons, but like I said that is far off, we are better protected by mimicking a normal dungeon."
"Ok, that is fine with me," Vanessa, looked at the map of her new home, enjoying the fancy magical map.
"I would recommend one of the mountainous regions on either side of the river. Even though the hills at the delta or the rainforest further south of it are good defense locations, some races thrive in that type of terrain, be it they are uncommon."
Given another decision to make that she had no clue on what to do about, so she decides to procrastinate, after all it has worked so far. "I'll decide when I see the location." She put her hands behind her back and smiled. She really looking forward to her new life, "Let's go! a grand adventure awaits us!" She floats off. Hon just smiles and catches up to her.
